The hotel was so wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Like to say thank you to Charlotte and all the reception and Manuel in the dinning room and all the staff 😀. Perfect location. Parking available. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was fab, really spacious, clean and comfortable. Leisure facilities were really nice and a great treat for an hour following a day of walking. Breakfast was amazing! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Only complaint was the temperature in our room. It was SO hot. They provided a fan straight away but unfortunately, the fan was rubbish and did nothing. We found out on checkout that some of their rooms do have aircon. We’d request this if we stayed again.

The hotel was in a good location for local restaurants and had plenty of parking. Hotel appeared well maintained and was well staffed, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Spa facilities with large indoor swimming pool was a very relaxed area. Lift to 1st and 2nd floors perfect for transporting suitcases. Breakfast was very good with a vast range of options from full cooked breakfast, cereals, fruits, breads, continental meats/cheeses.

Limited shelf space in bathroom area to put any toiletries. TV in room had limited channels, couldn't pick up freeview and channel guide not available.

The hotel was in a perfect location overlooking the ambleside town. Staff were so helpful, polite and generous. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the spa and had a massage each, it was so relaxing and clean. The food was amazing, best breakfast ive had when staying at a hotel. I will definitely be returning.

The only thing was that the sitting area out the front of the hotel closes at 8.30, in the summer I would love to sit out for a little longer with a drink watching the world go by.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, easy check in. Situated in the town center everything on the doorstep, shops, pubs etc. 30min walk to lake/boat rides to Windermere etc. Check times and you can get a 'all day pass' if booked before 11am, you can book online. A beautiful part of the world, relax and recharge. It is the lakes so expect hils, narrow roads and tight corners. Room was comfortable, bed a little too hard for me, but fine, tea/coffee, small fridge, towels, robe and slippers, shampoo etc all provided. It was hot when we stayed and the room was a little on the warm side. In the lakes this is not usually an issue.  Breakfast was lovely with a wide range of choice including hot, cold options, vegetarian and vegan options. Staff were very helpful and you were able to add/delete anything from full breakfasts available. Nice to have free parking available right next to hotel. Would stay here again.

The hotel is in the centre of Ambleside and is a good location for local walks. The breakfast is a highlight of the week , excellent choice and quality and the service is second to none , wonderful , kind staff who bring a smile to your face. Nothing is too much trouble . This is our third year staying with the Salutation and have never been disappointed. There is nothing quite like being able to sit and relax in the excellent Spa after a challenging day out on the mountains . We will be back next year to do it all again !

The steamroom in the spa was out of action but did not spoil our stay

Excellent location, top of the main street and very accessible to the town - only a few minutes walk away from the main bus stops for touring the lakes. Staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. The lounge and bar areas are very comfortable for chilling (especially on rainy days). Room was a good size, and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was excellent, and the dining room staff friendly and helpful. Great that we could leave our bags there safely after checking out. Overall, a lovely stay in a quality hotel.

A little disappointed that we were in an annex, but in all honesty it seems that most of the rooms were in an annex. It just smelled a little damp as you entered, and we were in an upstairs room which is no good if you're less mobile. Our fridge was switched on, but it wasn't effective at keeping things cold. We had an issue with people smoking outside the front door to the annex (where there is a cigarette bin) late into the night, and as our room was directly above the main entrance, we had their smoke coming in through our open window.

Had a lovely relaxing stay,staff absolutely excellent all very welcoming and greated with a smile..very helpful too.restaraunt perfect. Food amazing and breakfast one of the best we've had..definitely will return

Hotel looks slightly tired from the outside but thankfully made up for it on the inside..our only niggle if any would be that maybe could put a time slot on children in the swimming pool..wasn't a big issue but have stayed in numerous other hotels which do have times for children. Not a big issue just if you want a serious swim..

The hotel & spa is absolutely lovely, so clean and tidy the beds are very comfortable the Wi-Fi is excellent. There is so much choice at breakfast OMG you have multiple choices from the buffet style for starters with loads of fruit options and pastries. Also porridge is available and if you like there's also a little pot of whiskey to go with it if you want more!! on top of all the above you can still have the impressive cook breakfasts with multiple choices on offer.. The staff were so friendly, courteous, helpful, and always go the extra mile to make sure your stay as enjoyable as possible. Nothing was too small and it was such a really lovely stay an amazing place to be at. This was our second visit at the hotel and spa for our wedding anniversary and we will definitely be going back again. Ambleside is a really lovely place with lots of things to do even if you're staying three or four days. I want to thank the staff at the hotel for such an amazing stay we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we had such a wonderful time.

There was nothing that I didn't like or couldn't fault it was absolute amazing place to stay.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They remembered our names and room from day 1. The room was really comfortable and warm despite the cold weather. The hot tub experience on the balcony overlooking the river was great. Everywhere was so clean and organised. We watched how quickly the lounge was cleared of furniture, new carpet layed, and everything put back without convenience. The staff in the restaurant really looked after us. We asked for a table in a darker part of the restaurant as my partner had light sensitivity. They remembered every day and dimmed the light. The food was lovely although we only ate in the evening once but had breakfast every day. We've joined the club so will be back later in the year.
