This is a great place to stay, right in the middle of Ambleside but on a quieter road so not noisy. Niall and the team were all great and there was nothing too much for me! The room is above the cafe and was super clean and comfortable. There were a range of coffees/teas/milk options etc and some complimentary water and wine. Breakfast is served in the cafe all day which was great for me as I don't really do breakfast so I had mine at around 2pm instead. Vegetarian, pescetarian, vegan, GF or anything else, they can cater for and it was delicious. The cook actually gave me extra servings because I was a guest. Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people and of course a gorgeous location for hiking.

Loved it all

We stayed in the Shiraz room. The room was cosy and comfortable. It really did feel like our home from home. It was nice to be so close to breakfast when we wanted it, and the late service time is super handy if one wants a lie in. The choice on the menu was decent. The property is in the perfect location. It's so close to everything (in terms of restaurants and shops etc). The Shiraz room is to the back of the property, and we didn't hear any traffic or noise. I get the feeling the town is generally quiet and calm anyway. We had a nice view of the hills and church from our window. The sky box was a nice touch. We didn't really need to use all the channels, but maybe if we were staying longer, it would come in handy. There was plenty of shower gel, etc, available if needed. And all of the extras like the water, wine, and biscuits were a wonderful touch. Especially as the tea making facilities included little sachets of oat milk, not something we've ever seen before. The hosts were really great. One of our hosts offered to help find us reservations for dinner as he mentioned how busy the local restaurants would be. We would happily stay again.

The Wi-Fi was not great from our room. We connected to our 4G as a result where needed. The room had blinds and curtains. The curtains weren't a great fit for the windows. Some light does come into the room. It wasn't as bad as first thought. Also, we had eye masks to block the light out further. These points would not stop us from staying again. We'd definitely stay here again.

If we could give this stay an 11: we would! The location was central, right in the heart of Ambleside. The room was warm and inviting with fluffy towels and the bed comfortable. The spa was lovely and was used every night after our daily hikes. We enjoyed the wine and other complimentary items every night while using the free wifi to plan or watching Netflix and Sky TV. The abundant breakfast options every morning were delicious and Niall with his local knowledge provided us with many helpful suggestions which we followed and enjoyed. Thanks for having us! We will definitely rebook when we return to Ambleside from Australia!

Nothing- everything was perfect! Niall even kindly offered the use of the washing machine as we had stayed 3 nights.

Absolutely loved this place. Right in the centre, less than five minutes walk from bus station and pubs/restaurants. The cafe itself is really friendly with a wide ranging menu (meat veggie and vegan) . The rooms are upstairs, we stayed in "Merlot" which is nice and spacious with a lovely bathroom - the jacuzzi spa bath was especially welcome after a long day of walking up hills in damp weather! Bed large and comfortable. Heated towel rail and radiator provided plenty of drying space for soggy clothes. Would definitely book again.

Extremely comfortable bed. Shower/jacuzzi was brilliant. Everything was spotless and presented immaculately. Breakfast was incredible, and the staff were so helpful and caring.

Awkward entrance through back alley. No air con and windows potentially challenging to open if you are less physically able. Parking was also a 5 minute walk away, although having a permit to use throughout Ambleside is a pro.

Close to middle of town, lovely and quiet, loads of choice on the breakfast menu and everything was delicious, could come and go as we pleased, room was comfy and cosy, spotlessly clean and had everything you could need.

If I’m being picky, no parking on site - but a parking pass is given for any council car park so it’s not even a problem!

Everything. Will recommend to everyone. Could not be better. Clean, bed was so comfy, breakfast was exceptional, good quality ingredients, great coffee and tasty, nutricious fruit smoothies. Sky TV with all the channels, located in the centre of Ambleside - Excellent location, good choice of teas, coffees and biscuits in the room, complimentary wine and bottled waters, parking badge provided for duration of the stay for car park nearby, but additionally to this we could use this to park for free in numerous car parks around South Lakes (saved us so much money). Scorching hot weekend but the room was equipped with a fan to cool us down. Good quality complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Hot powerful shower. Attention to detail is amazing. Staff were all lovely including the girls and chef in the cafe, and Niall who after spotting us out, bought us a drink in a nearby pub. Can't wait to return.

Had to leave our dog at home as the rooms are not dog friendly. Can understand why, but this would be the only point I can mention here.

Stiles is perfectly located to explore the lakes. The rooms beautifully presented and cosy. Lovely and warm, plus the spa bath was very welcome after our wet walk in the mountains. Breakfast was delicious and as the other reviews said the coffee was spot on! The staff were very friendly and helpful

Walking past the kitchens was a bit strange but you can always use the side entrance to avoid that

Location is perfect in Ambleside - easy access to all the nearby hikes and amenities. Rooms are superb, very spacious, and with comfortable beds - great place to unwind after a day out. The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. All the little touches are so great.

The only slight comment is if there were inbetween-sized pillows that'd be ideal. There was either a quite tall/thick one, or a very flat one.
