All the other reports said about the delicious breakfast and it certainly was!! The coffee is blended specially for them and can't be bought anywhere else and it was excellent. I don't usually like coffee but my sister does and we both really enjoyed this - we went onto a large hotel in Scotland but my sister said Oh, the coffee is nowhere near as nice as at the Old School!!

Nothing! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay including seeing the gorgeous young children on the morning. Really happy with everything. Thank you Old School!!

I stayed at The Old School House B&B recently and was pleasantly surprised. While the accommodation is fairly basic, it was spotlessly clean and the bed was genuinely comfortable – I had a great night’s sleep. Breakfast is well catered for, and they were very accommodating with both my dog and breakfast preferences, which I really appreciated. It’s a budget-friendly option but offers excellent value for money. Would happily stay again.

For the price I really don't have any complaints.

The site was very easy to find & access, being very close to the M6. The room was comfortable & met with my requirements. Breakfast was good, with staff being more than happy to make any adjustments to the menu. Parking was good & although not private, there was a lot of space on the relatively quiet road outside.

Nothing really. The building & rooms could benefit with some attention from a maintenance & decoration viewpoint, but this is really nit-picking.

The room was an excellent size and perfect for our overnight stop. The family who run it were lovely and also helpful when we were later checking in than we had expected. Breakfast was delicious. The location was quiet but literally only a couple of minutes off the M6 so incredibly easy to access. The location also made it easy when travelling with a dog because once out of the front door there was a track that took you up onto the fells.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Relaxed atmosphere amongst guests and staff. My gluten intolerance was no problem at all and breakfast was tasty, fresh ingredients and nicely cooked. The village and location is very quiet and friendly but very close to an M6 junction which makes it perfect for long distance travellers but also very convenient for people like me coming up to explore the Westmorland Dales for a weekend. Evening meals no problem- there is an excellent pub just down the road that does good evening meals (again, very welcoming to a solo traveller).

A warm welcome from the host, great breakfast, easy to find & park, local pub for food within 2 min walk, local petrol & shop (Junction 38 Truckshop - run by the same people as the Westmoreland M6 Tebay services so much better than the name might suggest!). Room was clean, comfortable & the shower was good.

No TV in the room but there was a large TV downstairs in t guest lounge & a cosy log burner (I did have the simple £45 single bed room, as was arriving late & leaving early for work, so not sure what facilities the double rooms have)

Lovely room with wide opening window (a rarity in England). Cosy sitting room and dining area. Excellent if you’re driving on M6; it’s about 1/2 mile from the turn off for Tebay. Village pub is about 500m down the road. A bit out of the way for coast to coast walkers, but the owners are happy to transport to/from Orton if you ask them. Given the pub food and beer at the local pub are excellent; it’s a viable alternative to staying in Orton.

Friendly welcome to a rustic family home of happy children, dogs & a relaxed ambience presented by a super casual couple. Beautiful rural location. Chef/host Steve's breakfast was cooked to perfection! Free on-street parking. Convenient to M6, but very quiet. Short walk to village pub or 30 min drive to Kendal.

Although visually there was little that celebrates the building's school heritage, and the ensuite facilities are a little basic, it has its own informal cosy charm. Taking that into consideration, it's spot on value for convenience and I would stay again with these lovely hosts.

A beautiful and convenient location. Just off the motorway but fields to walk in and a very pretty village with a pub. Owners were very friendly as were the other guests staying. As a young woman traveling alone, I felt very safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend and it will be my first choice when travelling up north again. Breakfast was delicious and they were very accommodating.

The property itself is charming. Fun history and lots of character. Beautiful morning spread and appreciated the teapots. The innkeepers are a nice couple. Bathroom is definitely renovated with nice upscale elements. They do get busy so sometimes had to call a couple times or message and wait

The beds could have been slightly better quality. I could feel the springs. Also polyester sheets were hot and no fan. For the price though I wasn’t expecting the ritz. Don’t know why a bunch of people left negative reviews.
