The food at the Black Bull Inn was exceptional, we loved the dining experience for each of the three nights we ate there. The location of the property is in a lovely village that is ideally placed for those who want to hike in the area, although some walks have a steep climb, but worth it the higher you go. Beautiful scenery.

There wasn't much we didn't like. The service on the first night could have been better at the start, but improved towards the end of the meal, and the serving staff never really seemed to be too happy, two members of the serving staff did however lighten up the evenings.

What a fabulous place! We had one of the best dinners in a long time! Great artistry in the cooking. Exceptionally tasty food and a very long and interesting selection of wines to choose from. The restaurant was beautifully filled by a local florist with branches of blossom and an amazing display of Spring flowers in the big window. Very friendly staff everywhere – made to feel welcome. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast which we – unfortunately – couldn’t linger over as we had to rush off. They took our order and rustled us up porridge and perfect scrambled eggs in no time. A strong recommend.

We love coming to Sedbergh, this is our second time staying at the Black Bull and I can see it becoming a regular. The staff are very friendly, we are in the restaurant twice - different menu each day, but didn't stay for breakfast. The pub is a great place to relax in the evenings, playing board games (provided) over excellent beer (also provided). Room was comfortable with a good shower.

the kettle didn't work in the room - I'm not taking points off for that, it's very easily fixed, I just forgot to mention it to them

No option to curry for evening meal, a curry night for the locals. Breakfast was disappointing, felt slapdash, hard egg.Only sourdough, no other bread at breakfast. Bins clattered across cobbles early in the morning outside the lovely room. Car park has no markings and lgive themselves loads of room, the entrance is not for the fainthearted.

This was our second visit and the Black Bull Inn never disappoints. The staff are friendly and very helpful, rooms are stylish with very comfortable beds. The restaurant remains one of our favourites and this time the trout was to die for. The choice of wine is excellent and the bar has great beer and the possibility of playing Scrabble.

Fabulous staff, got a really good feeling as soon as we walked through the door. Nice old (in a nice way) building, with great character. Nice room overlooking the narrow main street, lovely bed, great shower. The food was fab, although I wee bit expensive, although we did go all out with 5 course, including steaks, and desert wines!! :-) Lovely evening dinner, and good breakfast. Make sure you book a table in advance for your evening meal, as we had so we were OK, but lot of people got turned away as they were fully booked.

Unfortunately the bathroom radiator was on full blast and we could not switch it off so it was pretty hot in the night, as was a warm night anyway, but we reported it on our check out so hopefully this will have been fixed for the next customer.

all v nicely set up, small room but totally functional. Good tea and coffee facilities in the room (ground coffee and cafetiere). Convenient parking right behind the hotel. We also had dinner in the restaurant - excellent! Great pigs in the yard!!! (no joke - they're in an eenclosure right behind the beer garden area. don't worry, no smells at all, just friendly huge pigs).

The quirky maze of rooms on many different levels and its decor and general ambience made the Black Bull far more attractive than a modern hotel. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our two dogs and made us feel very welcome with them. The food and drinks in the restaurant were excellent.

There was only one vegetarian dish on the restaurant menu, although that was excellent!!

The room was really lovely as were all of the staff. Clean, comfy, tastefully decorated and in a STUNNING town. The breakfast was utterly phenomenal.

We did struggle to reach the property prior to our stay and wound up not getting answers to some critical questions for whether or not to book, but luckily the things we needed were available.

Staff were lovely, food was really good. We had an issue with one evening meal and it was addressed straight away without fuss. Our room had a little balcony which was a lovely surprise. Also the real flower installation in the restaurant was amazing.
