This is my second stay at Castle Green and it was a lovely stay. We had a evening meal in the Castle Green restaurant, the food was amazing and service from Shelly was fantastic! She was a lovely lady and made our stay even more enjoyable. We had breakfast both mornings which was very good. We had sandwiches at lunch which were so big and very tasty. Myself and my daughter also used the pool. Room was lovely and clean. We will definitely return in the future.

Just got home from a 2 night stay for our 10th wedding anniversary, stayed in a executive suite (bed and breakfast) the suite was amazing,, set basically in its own wing in the old part of the hotel, just what we wanted, huge 4 poster bed, bathroom with bath and shower cubicle with overhead shower. Flat screen TV, sofa, fridge, air conditioning and heaters. And then there is the staff they can't do enough for you, all very pleasant and friendly, I had flowers delivered to the hotel to be put in our room for my wife, the reception staff are so helpful, emailing and messaging me back when needed. The restaurant staff were lovely, breakfast was very good, we ate in the restaurant in the evening as well, I'm a very fussy eater, if anything they might think about a few different choices for the more fussy eaters. 5 minutes drive to Kendal town centre, lovely views from the restaurant and gardens. All the ladies on reception were lovely, but a special mention for the blonde lady who was amazing as we were leaving my wife's flowers leaked all over the floor and she told us just to leave it and she would get it sorted, thank you so much for providing us with such a memorable stay.

Spotlessly clean hotel surrounded by lovely gardens.Easy online check in Beds and pillows were very comfortable ...room was dark and warm at night.Good bathroom facilities...lovely big bath and shower with good quality toiletries.Breakfast was fabulous - we were spoilt for choice.Very professional,friendly staff at breakfast time

We knew we didn't have a garden view but what we got was a view of an grass bank that was very close to the windows which blocked out most of the natural light.Also we went for dinner at the night time.Decided to chose from the light bites as we weren't too hungry.Was unhappy to be told that chosing from this menu meant we were restricted to where we sat and was put up the corner with a table facing a hedge.The food ,however, was very tasty and cooked to perfection.

this is our 3rd visit here .the first time was amazing the staff was fantastic and the location and hotel grounds are lovely. the 2nd visit wasn't as good due to a horrible restaurant manager bullying the young waitresses which we complained about to the reception staff .the way she spoke to them was disgusting and shocked us both .the reception lady genuinely seemed upset about it and offered a free room upgrade if we came back. well this is our 3rd visit and got our free room upgrade to an executive room which is stunning with views over the lovely well kept garden (room 139 ) .Sarah and Heather was great when I asked to use my free room upgrade on the phone there was even a nice welcome card with my name on when I got to my room which was a very thoughtful thing to do .we will definitely be back for our 4th visit soon as only 20 mins to bowness we're we love to go ..thanks again for another fantastic stay at this great hotel .thanks to the staff and especially Sarah and Heather.

we loved everything

The pool was brilliant. Lovely to use. Although rules re swimming lanes a bit tricky when not sure what time you will be back at hotel. Staff were fabulous, could not do enough to help. Gym and reception staff really lovely. Breakfast delicious.

Dinner quite expensive and vegetarian options limited. Understand entirely why restaurants combine vegetarian and vegan options, But as a long term vegetarian, I really don't want fake vegan cheese, not a fan! Would love something with real cheese or without processed ingredients. But dinner staff great and chips absolutely delicious. Quite a long walk to Kendal for alternative dinner options but, to be fair, thats clear when you book.

I booked here last minute for a birthday night and babymoon. A special mention to Heather who was patient to answer all my questions. Upon arrival she had upgraded us to a suite which was beautiful and spacious with lovely views of garden. A really nice touch was the birthday card and chocolate bar left on the bed and at dinner time the chef sent out a beautiful plate saying Happy Birthday with some chocolate brownies. Bar manager also offered a free drink. We felt really looked after! It was a great feel to the day. Pool was lovely and not too busy. Buffet Breakfast was great with good quality items used all round.

Some large spider webs in restaurant and room. Ceilings are high so can be overlooked. Bed sheet and spread had stains unfortunately. We had lunch and dinner there by choice as we didn't want to leave hotel. The food was nice but a little overpriced. The white chocolate pistachio tiramisu however was absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny!

A really solid 4 star hotel. The room was a decent size, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed. Nice to have 2 comfortable chairs. Bathroom had a decent shower. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was £35 for 2 courses, but somewhat more refined than regular hotel food so worth it. Breakfast was also very good, the hot items were actually fresh and fairly hot, which makes a nice change from the usual hotel buffet breakfast. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There are many steps to some rooms, help is available, but check with hotel if mobility is an issue.

Nothing

I have stayed there before and was very happy with it on both occasions. The bed was comfortable and well provided for. The view was nice, everything was clean, the staff were a mix of moderately friendly and amazingly friendly. The location is perfect.

I was pretty sure that in the original booking a breakfast was included but when I got there, it was £15 extra or something. I also didn't go with anyone but they said they were expecting me to be with one of my children for some reason. I'm not sure if this is the hotel or Booking or maybe even error on my behalf.

Warm and welcoming team on reception and then on to our room a beautiful executive room with views over the grounds and beyond of kendal. Beautiful bay window with the corner L shaped sofa positioned perfectly for the view. Large swivel tv and a super king bed. Coffee machine and kettle with a fridge ( complementary mineral water inside) and a good selection of hot drinks supplied. A bathroom with a large walk-in shower and a free-standing bath, great to soak away some of our aches and pains. And controllable heating with air con and radiators, which kept the room just right.

My only negative was the restaurant well it's menu which was a little scant on choice, what they had was presented well and good and hot. But the starter choice was limited and a little uninspiring. The staff were great and attentive without being overbearing. Breakfast was buffet style, good selection, and again, nice and hot , not always achieved by buffets. Although things were a little low quantity wise (bread at toaster only 2 slices left of white bread) but to be fair we where at the tail end d of service and there were still plenty of other breads. It's not a disaster, just an observation.

Junior suite was really spacious for us and 2 kids, beds were comfortable including the sofa bed. Bathroom was luxurious. Breakfast had a full English vegan and they also had oat milk, vegan butter, and staff very accommodating with this. (Vegan breakfast isn't advertised and they could make more of the fact that this is offered, it's appealing to vegetarians too!) Dinner options were limited for vegan but they did have vegan ice cream which the kids loved. Pool was lovely and had kid friendly swim times. Staff were ALL super friendly and lovely to the kids too. We would definitely stay here again.

Only one changing cubicle for the swimming pool which wasn't ideal when a big group were getting ready for a class we had to wait for ages. A couple more vegetarian/vegan dinner options would have been great
