Nice hotel, staff were super, breakfast was excellent. Good bar, and they gave us some bar vouchers, which was nice. Location very good provided you have transport. WiFi was good, which was just as well as there was no phone signal.

The price on Booking.com was good, right up until they mentioned a parking charge that came to an extra 14% on the bill. If this was visible at the time of booking, I certainly didn't find it. They emailed about it just after the free cancellation period ended and just before the stay. This hotel is 2 miles from the nearest public transport, so I guess that the vast majority of guests come by car. On the subject of emails, they seem to be emailing pretty much every day about some special offer or other, which is getting annoying. My vacation is over, I've left the hotel and am not coming back any time soon.

Breakfast was incredibly good. Possibly best meal ever at any time of day. Dog friendliness was beyond all expectations. Staff were really nice and helpful. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Only thing was the unexpected car parking charge of £12. Perhaps I didn't read all the small print on booking, but this is a lot!! No choice not to park there.

Just wanted to say , thank you so much for the most amazing stay over the weekend , I can now see why our friends recommended a visit and why they return . From the minute we arrived to leaving everything was first class , thank you for our room upgrade , it was just perfect room 3 will be our go to room when we return , the food was sublime ..and breakfast was in abundance didn’t know where to start .. And then to wake up with the most picturesque snow ❄️ .. just added to a much needed trip away.. I can’t leave a review without adding how amazing the lovely lady and gentleman working tirelessly to ensure everyone got safely off the car park with the snow ⛄️, The only issue is we only booked one night !! Thank you all again so much what a fabulous retreat and an amazing team Hopefully see you all again soon

It’s very cosy and quaint, and the food was delicious, maybe a bit over priced though. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive, especially George. Was lovely sitting next to the roaring fire after dinner. Very chilled.

We were in room 31, it could have done with a fresh carpet and divan base, and the furniture was a bit knocked and battered. The bedding was fresh and clean and comfortable. We didn’t sleep well as there are pictures hanging on all room doors in a long corridor and two of them fell off in the night making a big clatter which woke a baby who cried for 30 minutes. They need affixed properly.

As disappointed we had to pay so much for the car park on top of what we paid for our stay , but also wasn’t told on arrival

Room was lovely & bed super comfortable, most staff couldn't do enough to help (Oliver was especially great), food phenomenal, nice location, old-world touches are really special.

Parking charge seemed excessive as there is nothing nearby to warrant it - everything requires a car journey away from the hotel (interestingly, there is no charge if you book direct), room walls thin - kept awake by a snoring neighbour, receptionist was nonchalant & seemed like she didn't want to be there which dampens your high spirits when having some time away, room really hot - a fan was provided but had little impact.

Nice quiet location, although not easy to walk in to bowness as it’s a busy road with no footpath. Nice traditional pub and very cosy although most tables are in the dining area with limited seating in the bar so we couldn’t be seated for pre-dinner drinks. Lovely bath house toiletries although no shampoo/conditioner.

On receiving the bill at the end of the stay a charge for car parking was added along with a service charge. We weren’t advised of this prior to booking and as the location of the property is in the middle of nowhere with no option to park anywhere other than the car park that belongs to the hotel, I don’t think parking charges should apply!

Nice woods behind the property for a short walk. Food was good at their restaurant and friendly staff.

The £12 parking charge. We got punished by booking through third party i.e. booking.com. Apparently, you wouldn't get charged if you book direct with the hotel, and patrons of the restaurant/bar don't get charged for using the car park so it's a mystery why we were charged (and we had dinner there too). It's not in town so it's not likely you would go there without a car. So my advice is - DON'T BOOK ON HERE!

Cosy, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. Food and drink was fabulous and the staff were helpful and attentive. Really enjoyed the Wild Boar woods too.

Some of the building is a little tired, with the odd leak and repair needing attention. Also the windows from our bedroom (and bathroom) looked directly on to the carpark which meant it didn't feel very private unless the blinds and curtains were fully drawn.

We have stayed at the Wild Boar three times now. I booked it for our 30th wedding anniversary. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us, they really made our stay. We ate in the restaurant both nights and thought the food was excellent. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. We had our dog with us and he was made welcome also, lots of treats, and even a little welcome pack waiting on arrival.

As I said we had our dog with us, and paid an extra £20/night for him which I thought was a little excessive and I believe it should have been £30. At that price I wouldn’t bring him again. Also the car parking charge of £12/night! These charges actually give the wrong impression of what the Wild Boar is!
