This is a traditional Inn /bed and breakfast . Steeped in history in peaceful location of you want to get away from it all . It is a family run business and the staff can’t do enough for you . Private parking great views from the room I was in . Selection of real ales at the bar and menu slightly pricey on face value but when food is served up you see the value for money . Good hearty meals. The breakfast is a buffet style continental and more than enough . What a refreshing change from the chains that seem to be taking over these traditional stop overs. And nothing but admiration for the owners . They are very passionate about there Inn.

There’s nothing not to like .

The room we stayed in was beautiful (room 12). Very grand with an antique feel, bed was huge and really comfortable and bathroom was clean. The hotel was surrounded by rolling hills with great views and lovely scenery, very secluded and quiet. The staff were more than helpful and ensured we had a pleasant stay, food at the restaurant was also lovely and fresh, cooked with care and attention. Free continental breakfast in the morning was a bonus that I hadn’t expected. ALSO - definitely try the Spanish Style Scotch Egg if you go to the restaurant, it was incredible!

Road to the hotel could be a bit narrow and daunting at times, but didn’t have any problems whilst we were there. Restaurant food was a little on the pricey side but it was a very nice meal with fresh and good quality ingredients. not much choice for food as the hotel is secluded, unless you drive to Windermere or Ambleside which is around 15-20 mins up the road by car.

My partner and I stayed for 1 night with our little 10 month old puppy but ended up going back for one more night and upgraded the room for only £10 more!! I can not say enough about this gorgeous place! Beautiful location, glorious sun or rain. The Staff could not do enough for us, special shout out to Megan, Tommy, Donna and Sam. These guys made our stay so worth the visit and we loved the acoustic Tuesdays with Simon and John. Food was exceptional 5*

The only thing I would say is the radiator not working in one of the bedrooms but that’s literally it.

The staff make this Inn . Tommy the manager took such good care of us and if we were to go back and stay it would be because of the staff . The bar is cozy and has amazing views in the summer or winter . The restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten in . They have an amazing chef and a very affordable menu . The continental breakfast was ample and set us up for the day . It was served in the restaurant again with a amazing views . Book in advance for dinner as it’s always busy regardless if it’s midweek or weekend . It’s a great base for walking and a short distance from the lovely Bowness-On-Windermere and Ambleside .

There isn’t much to dislike but what I would say is that the rooms are very comfortable but tired and slightly dated . Our room could have done with a good overhaul but this is a suggestion directed at the owners and not the staff .

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel had a lovely cosy atmosphere. We ate in the pub which was delicious. Staff very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and well appointed and our dog was welcomed and allowed in all parts of the hotel. Dog toys and blankets are a lovely touch! Continental breakfast was varied and tasty. We will definitely return. Very small suggestions: the pillow was a bit hard and a full length mirror in the room would be nice. But neither of these detracted from a wonderful peaceful stay.

Lovely welcome both from staff and the cat in reception. Room very nice, clean and well equipped. Nice to have tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely atmosphere in the bar at night with great staff and a folk band playing. Obviously very pet friendly. Another time I visit I will definitely bring my dog!

Breakfast was just continental unless you paid for brunch which started after 11am. Although it was nice and there was a good choice of cold food, it would be nice to be able to buy a hot breakfast earlier than 11am so you can set out and explore the amazing area early with a good breakfast to start the day.

Comfortable rooms with comfortable beds, plenty of parking, good heating system. Staff was generally very friendly. The main building is very cozy specially during cold rainy days. It was good place to relax.

Dishes were not clean and we had to wash ourselves before use. On the second night there was a water running noise during the entire night , the next day I noticed they shut off a valve on the studio wall that brings water somewhere. I don't know what it does but it would be better to keep it shut at night if possible.

A quirky, interesting hotel in a fabulous location - great views over lovely countryside from many areas inside and out. Food was high quality and very well presented. Wide range of drinks. Staff were all very good! Helpful, polite, attentive. Continental breakfast was self service and had a very reasonable choice.

Meal prices perhaps a touch high? Although I realise that this is the case across the country just now - eating out is, basically, more expensive than it was.

Staff went out of their way to be helpful. They provided a packed breakfast when we had to leave extra early. Extremely dog friendly. Dogs are treated as VIPs. Great atmosphere in bar area. Very stylish and relaxed

Studio described as self catering but only a microwave for cooking purposes. This wasn't clarified when booking so we assumed there would at least be a hob. Shame they don't do cocktails. Only a continental breakfast. No cooked option.
