Good facilities, view and staff were nice

The staffs are friendly and will be there to help you most of the time. The bed is clean and comfortable (better than most of the hostels I have ever stayed at). Even though the location is far from the nearest bus station (20-25 mins walk), the scenery is beautiful and breathtaking (good spot to see sunset as well). There are many shower rooms and toilets, with that we don’t need to wait. The kitchen has kitchen utensils which we can use to cook for free. Most importantly, the price is super low if compared to other accommodations in the UK. Everything is good, will stay again if I go to Windermere again!

The heater will not function properly sometimes, but still not a big problem for us.

The location was top notch, staff friendly, sitting outside in the sun was the best.

After being excited there gluten free options for dinner and breakfast, dinner was grim. Overcooked pasta and loaded nachos meant tortilla chips with jar salsa and jar guacamole. Maybe if we’d ordered a pizza it would’ve been better. For breakfast, £10 for undercooked fried eggs (when the white is still transparent), and only given one slice of gf bread each to toast when everyone has open access to the continental breakfast with their cooked, just felt… stingy. So not the hostel as such, but the food options there.

This is a charming hostel! The staff are incredibly friendly, and the building itself is beautiful, with many lovely murals gracing the walls of the common room. The hot English breakfast was delicious.

The wifi signal was practically too weak to be functional. However, staff members warned about this ahead of time. The location is slightly confusing if you're walking to the Hostel. Be sure to walk down the road to the parking lot when you see the YHA sign; the building that is right along the main road and seemingly associated with the sign is a private residence.

Kitchen had lots of cutlery crockery cooking utilities and utensils. The toilet and showers were individual not a whole lot in one room and they were just across the hall from the sleeping room. The staff were friendly and helpful and there were lots of families. There were games and books and a lovely lounge and eating area. The food that was served should you choose not to be self catering looked good and reasonably priced. The view was lovely.

We couldn't seem to get the showers to produce hot water but that may have been us. We mentioned it to the staff and they were going to check it but we didn't need it again so we don't know what the outcome was.

Everything! We stayed in the bigger bell tents that were exceptionally clean, ample bedding provided for 5 people. Free wood was given for the 1st night with instructions how to light it. Shared kitchen and facilities were above expectations, whole property is being maintained brilliantly. The view from the tent was amazing, gorgeous sun set plus sighting the RAF fighter jets was cherry on the top. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. I am going to sign up with YHA for my future travels in the UK.

Kitchen could use with 1 more fridge :)

I absolutely LOVE staying with YHA. The people the atmosphere the locations. You just don't get that when staying in a hotel especially travelling solo. Thankyouuuuuu 😁

I did mention that the doors needed planing down (to the ensuites in the dorm rooms) as the guests were needing to slam them a couple of times in order to close them. Which you could hear throughout the top floor. Not great in the late and early hours.

Traveled by bike then train . Easy to reach 10 min and all down hill , bit harder on return journey due to hill and having luggage. Nice basic room view over Windermere lake excellent. Secure bike shed. Staff friendly and helpful. Good kitchen facilities and decent size dining area again with lake view. All areas clean and tidy. Suitable for couples small families and friends. Not noisy and too busy like some hostel can be. 10 min walk to main road reliable bus service . Must point out that the walk from the main road back to he hostel can take 15 mins or more fairly steep in parts. Would definitely return

WiFi poor in all areas. No TV in lounge which would be useful as the Wi-Fi poor. Could do with a couple of air fryers in kitchen ( well used kitchen appliance nowadays).

WiFi kept disconnecting and not strong enough. We couldn’t have breakfast as too packed and set up a bit disorganised. However excellent location, lovely room and good for self catering. I feel that many younger staff (in all places I’ve been to) lack social skills. Not all but some need more training on being or seeming friendly. Maybe they’re just shy or nervous but it costs nothing and makes a big difference.

It exceeded my expectations. We had a very warm welcome from the staff who very patiently explained everything. The room was spacious and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. There were enough showers and toilets all around which were very clean too. The kitchen was very well resourced and enough sitting area. We were very impressed by this hostel.
