Windermere Manor Hotel is such a beautiful building to look at, and the surrounding gardens are very nice to sit in and read a book. I forst noticed how peaceful the place is, just listening to the sounds of nature. The hotel restaurant is split into 4 sections, a bar area, lounge, conservatory, and chapel, food was very nice, and reasonably priced, and staff very friendly. Hotel is located close to Bowness and Windermere Village, if you like going for walks there's local hiking trails, and Orrest Head view point is 30 mins away by walking. Swimming pool was a bonus, was expecting it to be busy however had the pool all to myself on my first morning. Would definitely stay again.

Shower pressure wasn't at its best, and hot water sometimes took awhile to heat up.

Very dog friendly and young lad at the bar was excellent and couldn't do enough for but run off his feet as at times he was the only staff around. Room clean and spacious and lovely grounds for excercising your dog. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was very good apart from one particular grumpy waiter he was constantly grumpy. Pool was nice and clean even though one day we had to share with a swimming for young children.

The first time we ate in the restaurant we waited 45min for our starters and then when partners steak no taste and medium rare on one half and almost mooing on the other half. Serious lack of staff at dinner time which made dinner experience not very enjoyable (ate out in the town for remainder of our stay).

The hotel grounds were very well kept and the location is around 20 minutes walk from the centre of Bowness on Windermere - few gradients to tackle but a nice walk. The swimming pool was warm and very clean - the hotel provided towels. Breakfast was good - hot - and plentiful - although if you want fried or poached eggs you need to ask (but not after 09:35 as “too late for eggs “ apparently). We did not eat dinner or lunch in the hotel so we can’t comment on the restaurant food quality. We enjoyed our stay and we would return.

The main hotel car park is quite small, we were in the annex which was OK.

We followed the Sat Nav & it took us right to the car park for Windermere Manor Hotel. We then parked up with plenty of parking to find a secure gated place for dogs, this was really good as after a long drive with our sprocker spaniel he couldn't wait to get out for a run off lead. We were very impressed with the views outside the Hotel looking over the Windermere Bowness Lake, very picturesque. We then checked in & was provided a dog bed for our doggy along with treats. The staff were very friendly & couldn't help enough, the room was very clean, which had an ironing board/iron, teas & coffees. We both slept really well as the bed was really comfortable, there is alot of lovely walks in the surrounding areas & lots of bus stops which also accommodated our dog on board too, which was great for the less accessible places. The Breakfast in the morning was lovely & had no issues at all, we were very pleased with our stay & are already looking at coming back. Thank you Windermere Manor Hotel.

Fantastic sized room for us and our 1 year old daughter, the bed was incredibly comfy and the hotel is in a great location and really family friendly while also being suitable for couples, senior travellers and dog owners too. Breakfast was delicious (self-serve buffet of hot and cold food and drinks) and by gosh we were full both days. The staff we encountered were always friendly and helpful and interacted with our daughter too, not just us, which was a nice touch.

Service in the evening was slower than you would get if you ate out in a restaurant but that was only because there was only one member of staff serving on the bar, taking orders, running food out and helping to do desserts too. He did a good job and handled how busy it was well, but it did mean we waited a bit longer and didn't get our last drinks or kids ice cream and the dessert you could tell had been made in a rush but this is no fault of his as he was incredibly busy and we still enjoyed our evening. The bathroom in our room also had a bit of a funny drain smell and when we arrived the bin hadn't been emptied in the room from previous guests but none of these things spoilt or affected our trip and we would return again in a second!

What an absolutely lovely place; stunning location with views over the lake, and outside tables and seating to take advantage of this. Wonderful old-world decor (wood panelling etc) gives a fabulous and cosy ambience. We played giant chess in the garden, swam in the pool, explored the grounds and had a lovely supper outside on a warm evening. We had a family room and a standard double for our family of 5 and all were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed only one night en route to Scotland and will definitely be back.

Not a dislike for us at all, but as a dog-friendly hotel (we were the only guests we saw without one and yet had managed to miss this major selling point when booking!) it wouldn’t suit everyone. Very fussy patrons trying to find fault may point to occasional scuffs and worn paintwork etc.

Location - great location, we walked down to Bowness and had a short 5 min drive down to the water activities on Ambleside. Having a drink outside while the sun was setting over the lake was just beautiful. Staff - everyone was so friendly! We had a late snack in the lounge which was kindly provided even though kitchen was closing. Room was cleaned when requested after housekeeping had missed us. Breakfast staff really lovely and warm. Swimming pool - kids loved having access to the pool although it was a bit cold for me (admittedly I get cold everywhere even Dubai!) so would have liked a warm pool. Room - large room which was comfortable for a family of 4. Clean bathrooms with plenty of toiletries. Breakfast - great selection! Coffee and drinks selection was good too.

The property is great value for money but if I had to be really fussy and pick one thing I didn’t like it was the lack of fridge. Would be nice to have a fridge in the family rooms as when travelling with children it’s always good to store snacks for long days.

Im a very light sleeper and needed a room without any disturbance, Pauline helped me out and booked me in at the Annexe at the back of the hotel, and I had peasant quiet all night,I slept like a log, can't thank you enough Pauline, ill be staying in thay room again. Breakfast was really good as well, poached eggs on request and lots of everything else, it's a buffet style breakfast so you can just go back and get more, it really sets you up for the day. The room was warm, bed was comfy, broadband was fast, lovely bath if you want to relax after a long day's work or walk, can't fault this place at all, I will definitely stay again.

Nothing that I didn't like at all, can't fault the place

We only stayed here for the one night but wish we stayed longer! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel was great (if you can drive or you’re wanting to walk), the breakfast in the morning was great with lots of options, and our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable.

The only thing that wasn’t amazing about this hotel was the limited food options in the evening, the menu itself had lots of options but some of the menu wasn’t available, however we still ordered and the food that came was still very nice!

The hotel was lovely, set in a lovely grounds not far from the Lake. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was a good size for a family. The food in the restaurant was really nice and good value for money. The pool was also a nice bonus and a nice clean area.

The cleanliness in the room was not great, particularly the bathroom, there were a lot of stray hairs knocking around which was a bit off putting. WiFi in the room was also not great. Also we had audio subtitles in our tv which we could not turn off, staff were also unable to help, so this was a bit annoying as we couldn’t watch tv.
