Comfortable room with lots of space and storage. Clean and tidy and well maintained. Wonderful location for exploring the Borrowdale valley. Staff very attentive, professional and friendly.

Charging £30 a night for our dog seemed excessive.

The breakfast was superb and the lady who was working Sunday 14th Jan called us in when we were booked to eat at 7:30am, she was friendly, polite, and very helpful. She was a credit to the hotel!

The lady on Sunday 14th, we were ‘waiting’ to check out as you could only check out at 7:30a. I saw her arrive and went over to ask to check out and she was still in her coat and almost sighed and said “I’ve not even log into my computer yet” which I think was unnecessary to say. She checked me out, didn’t ask how our stay was or a even goodbye was just a shame to end our hotel experience like that.

Room was clean and comfortable with lovely view, breakfast was very good.

I found the staff in the restaurant a little rude, and it was not always easy to talk to someone on reception.

Reception staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. It's a small and quaint hotel, but it far outweighs anything else in the area for that price. WiFi was strong given the area. Dog-friendly (with separate outdoor eating are so the furbabies can stay with the guests as they eat). Roast dinner served on weekdays. English breakfast was good.

The restaurant staff could do with a refresher course in service. Save Peter, who carried the service SINGLE HANDEDLY. The breakfast staff were down right rude and lazy!! Slow and ANNOYED whenever called over for anything. Impatient and irritable when taking the order and even seemed disgusted when we asked for a coffee topup. Hello!! It's your JOB!! Appreciate it or find other employment in a DIFFERENT FIELD!! Couldn't recommend visiting friends or family to eat there, had to make other arrangements.

The hotel was in an amazing location for walking and visiting the larger area. The food was amazing, every meal was just top of it's game, well worth just popping in for something too eat. The hotel itself was a beautiful building, the rooms were very clean and the beds were comfy (spent half a day just in the bed relaxing). We took our two labradors and the hotel could not have been any more accommodating towards them, treats and cuddles galore. Yes you do eat in a separate location with your pets, so none pet owners can enjoy the restaurant, while those with pets have the amazing conservatory location. The best part of our stay was definitely the staff, so friendly, accommodating and you could have a good talk with them too. We will definitely be making another visit.

A minor negative would have been how warm some locations were. The conservatory location is a wonderful place too eat with great views, but it did get warm, to the point we had too nip outside between courses. However this really cannot be blamed too much on the hotel, part of it has to be, just the strange British weather!

Location was brilliant, couldn’t fault it. Was well presented and the staff were very tentative.

We booked a room in which pets were allowed, however we felt that the charge of £25.00 per night for our dog was excessive. There wasn’t really much of a benefit of paying the £25.00 nothing was provided for our dog (bowls/ blanket/ etc) and we were not allowed in the main restaurant. Furthermore the communal corridor area were the rooms allowed pets wasn’t very clean and the smell of dogs was quite prominent. Despite us paying £25.00 we would have thought some of that money would be used to clean that area more thoroughly.

It's a really peaceful place . The staff were very helpful and kindly. I'd just escaped a month in hospital and was very worn out. Unfortunately, I wish I could have stayed longer but was in transit very happily to collect my dogs from kennels. It was warm, quiet and really cosy. Unfortunately, I am still not well and decided to try some fruit , I was unable to swallow it. I couldn't find anyone to tell so I just returned to my room. I then received a call asking me if everything was ok and would I like them to bring my breakfast up to the room for me. Now that's exceptional service. It's dog friendly too. So me and my 2 Goldens will be on a family holiday here very soon. Thank you all .

I have mobility issues and need to open my car door fully . I was lucky to find a place outside the front and the end of a bay. I would have really struggled to enter my car , the way some people had parked. No reflection on this lovely hotel at all.

We liked the communal spaces, especially the number of lounges/bar. The location/setting is beautiful. Enjoyed how dog friendly the hotel is, particularly how the staff carry dog biscuits (although I feel they should ask the owners before giving them to each dog).

The rooms and hallways upstairs definitely need some attention. They are quite dated and require some maintenance here and there. Could do with refurbishing the accommodation areas. Most of the staff were fantastic, however the staff at breakfast could be a bit more attentive. On our final morning two waitresses were quite brusk in their manner, ordering felt a bit rushed and a couple of times they assumed one of us was ordering for both of us, and didn't give the other an opportunity to answer.

I was not expecting the hotel to be as lovely as it was - plus Breakfast was included!! The hotel itself is really nice, clean and well looked after, and the location makes it so easy to get around if you have a car (just 15 mins out of Keswick). Easy walk to the Lodore Falls and jetty and some brilliant walks around the lake too. Staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Most meals, room and staff were excellent. Maria who was on reception when we arrived managed to change one of our rooms (despite putting our rooms together as requested) which were on the second floor as one of our party has health problems and could not manage the two flights of stairs. The location is tremendous.

Very dissappointed with the venison pie we had the first night when we had been looking forward to it from noticing it on the menu when we first arrived.
