The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated, with a view from one of the widows to a side garden (appreciating that some other rooms may have had better views). The staff were attentive (without being overly so), and very accommodating. The setting of the Guest House was wonderful, and location wise it was perfect for access to the nearest town/s and villages, and scenic spots, and then walks in the vicinity. The size of the Guest House was also perfect, - not too big or too small. While we did not avail of the Dinner, it came with very high credentials.

The view from one of the room windows wasn't particularly inspiring, as it looked onto the side of the building.

We stayed for 4 days May 2023. The best hotel I have ever stayed in. To start with, the room was very spacious and clean. The hotel itself is stunning. We sat outside in their garden most evenings for a drink and the view is absolutely breath taking. We had an excellent breakfast every morning and we had the Michelin star 6 course taster menu for one of our dinners and it exceeded our expectations. The value for money for that meal is outstanding. But to top everything off, the staff were 10/10. They were all very polite and all held amazing knowledge about the area, food and drink. We will definitely be coming to stay again next year. A big thank you to all the staff :)

Fantastic hotel in the beautiful surroundings of the Borrowdale Valley. The hotel is set back from the road in quiet grounds with peaceful backdrop. Easily drivable from Keswick in about 10 minutes, and there is a regular and reliable bus service that can drop you at the Borrowdale Hotel or Grange village (both 5-10 minute walk from the property). Lots of walks and strolls easily accessible from the hotel. The hotel manager went out of her way to make us feel comfortable, and even though we did not try the evening menu, the breakfast was very tasty.

The walls of the property are a bit thin as it is an old property, so perhaps some better soundproofing during future regenerations. Apart from that, nothing to dislike.

Rooms were fabulously warm. On the day I stayed in the room and left the do not disturb sign they were great. Only knocked in the middle of the afternoon to say they were done with house keeping except our room and asked if we needed anything. We got lovely fresh towels. Was so impressed!

Thought it was a shame that the only option for dinner at the hotel was a very expensive four course taster menu. We were really disappointed that it was out of our budget. Would have loved to eat at the hotel if there’d been a regular evening menu. But I could just be being biased as we couldn’t afford the taster menu.

Location is in the beautiful Borrowdale valley; gardens, full of spring flowers and outdoor seating areas were super, with walks straight from the door; all staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and courteous; our room was large, lovely views and had ensuite bath/shower; the dinners were extraordinarily amazing - beautifully presented with six delicious courses! What a chef!! Wonderful dining experience with red squirrels right outside the dining room window! Great wine list. Can't wait to return, which we definitely will.

Everything was good but the hospitality shown by the team was out of this world. Fabulous hosting. The food was, of course, of tremendous quality. My only regret is not staying for three nights to sample the full menu.

Perhaps the window in the bathroom could be more opaque? I was mindful that from a couple of seats outside someone could potentially see into the bathroom but there's a perfectly fine blind in there that works. That's it. That's the only "criticism". And only so as not to leave the section blank and i'm aware that this is ridiculously picky.

Stunning location, easy to get a taxi from the hotel to the centre of Keswick! The grounds were beautiful, plenty of wildlife, ducks, robins and even pheasants. The staff were exceptional, very chatty and friendly.

No negatives at all, apart from the pillows in the bedroom were a little too plump on top and the bottom pillows were too flat - but this is just personal preference and I’m sure the staff would have sorted this if we would have mentioned but we were only staying one night so it didn’t impact our trip at all.

The room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the view was spectacular. We really lucked out with the weather in June too! Looking out on the golf course was really gorgeous. We loved the property. It was quiet and beautiful and surrounded by acres of nature. Also, if you're a golfer, you'll adore the course.

The only thing I would fault them for is the restaurant. They were short staffed and the food was hit and miss. Could be better. The wine list was terrible. Room for improvement there. If they sorted out a great chef and a better wine list, they would be 10/10.

Friendly mid day/evening staff, helped us with booking a taxi and my food intolerances.

My friend struggled with booking breakfast on the app so only one breakfast went through, morning staff made us feel as though we were being a nuisance. Would book an upstairs room next time as it was quite noisy being on the bottom floor with people bumping and banging around above us.

Very good breakfast, friendly efficient service, very good choice of food. The dinners were very good and the variation from the menu for the week was helpful. They also Catered for gluten intolerant or vegetarian or for those who did not have fish. The staff is were very friendly and helpful.

The recharging pint was a disappointment. We were unable to charge unless we committed ourselves to spending £70+. Also the music was intrusive but they turned it down or off when we asked. It could have been classical in the evening to suit the dinner. There could have been more board games but having scrabble there was good. There could have been a little more white meat but otherwise the food was very varied.
