This gem of a hotel right in the centre of Keswick has recently been refurbished retaining much of its charm. I was givem a warm welcome. Staff members were all very friendly and helpful. I arrived during a heatwave so was relieved to find air conditioning in the room. Not only that but it ran quietly. I appreciated the sensitive wording of the welcome booklet warning to expect creaky floors because of the age of the building. Ear plugs and a mask were provided and a scented spray for my pillow in order to aid a good night' s sleep. That certainly did the trick together with the comfy bed. I stayed in Room 4 which had a window seat. I enjoyed watching all the passers by. The breakfast menu served at a table looking up a twisty street offered many choices. I actually preferred this to a buffet style menu. The late checkout at 11am made the mist of my one night stay. I was able to enjoy the thriving Saturday market.

Fabulous spacious room. Bed was huge and very comfortable, had air con in the room which was very welcoming. pet friendly, very central location, lots of extras in room like dressing gowns, slippers, sleep mask, tissues, complimentary bottle of water as well as the usual tea, coffee etc. Fridge in room with chargeable items, if required. Able to watch netflix on TV. Bathroom was clean, lots of lovely Toiletries. Breakfast was very nice. Separate side entrance if required so didn't have to go through the main hotel.

Could be quite noisy from other rooms.

The location was perfect, very good breakfast and caring staff.

Lack of storage in the bedroom. Disappointed to hear from staff that all bedrooms are dog friendly which means that we will not be staying at the Royal Oak again. Some rooms should not be made available for dogs. Having had an incredible make over inclusive of new carpets, this surely is not a good choice for dogs which have been in the hills, lakes, rolling around in mud? I was bitten by fleas and the room is already starting to smell of wet dogs.

The room was so cute and cozy, we both slept great and had a lovely time. The breakfast was amazing! There was loads of options including traditional and more healthy options and great veggie options too. Location was top notch and loved the separate entrance at night.

The bathroom was just was we needed, but could do with some updates I think it's just a little tired but all still functional and fine. The toilet was pretty noisy but I think that's probably because it's an older building and honestly wasn't a big deal the location of the place and how cozy it was and the great breakfast made up for it.

The room was lovely and comfortable with a double bed, excellent tea/coffee facilities with quality coffee and tea aim the room. Milk was available from the bar free of charge. The room curtains were thick ensuring the room was dark at night . The en-suite was a shower room and again was well equipped with shower/ wash gel, shampoo etc all quality products . Soft fluffy towels were provided . Dogs were welcome and Fergus loved it too. Breakfast was included in the booking cost and the breakfast was quality and plentiful plus sausage/bacon was given to our dog for breakfast as well

Just a small thing was that the drains smelt a bit in the bathroom but not really a problem

Great location right in the centre of Keswick, a couple of minutes walk from the Central Car Park. Staff were super friendly & couldn’t do more for us, including our dog! We had expected to lose our first nights stay due to bad weather across the north, but the team were super accommodating and we can’t thank them enough! We were celebrating our anniversary and had exchanged cards - we came back to our room dressed and a lovely bottle of Prosecco which was just soo sweet! The room was characterful and warm, White Company products in the bathroom were lovely, plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits in room. Knowing we’d be staying a couple of nights we wanted a room with a little more space and booked the Character Double Room with Sofa Bed - it was more than big enough for the three of us! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, again service was excellent, there was even sausage for the pooch! We ate in the pub our first night after a long drive and afternoon exploring, the food was spot on!

Nothing at all, it’ll be our first choice of stay on our next trip to Keswick!

Staff are sooo kind and accommodating. This was a last minute trip for us as my parents fell Ill the day before they were meant to go to Keswick . We took our 1 year old baby and dog, the staff provided unlimited heated milk for my baby and let us keep the pram in the bar as there was no lift . Nothing was too much and the staff at breakfast were amazing with our dog and little boy . Makes all the difference when staff are dog and family friendly. Food at breakfast was sooo good , the best scrambled egg I’ve ever had!

Nothing - it doesn’t have a lift but it does state that when you book so this is something you are aware of Before booking. Like I said this was a last minute trip for us and was supposed to be a Xmas present for My parents .

The property was very central which made everything convenient. Parking was a little tricky however, plenty of parking nearby paid £12.20 for 1 day at the Otley Road car park not far walk from hotel. The breakfast was great and fresh & the staff in the hotel were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in a cosy double bedroom which was perfect for our 3 night staycation. Only thing was lack of storage to hang stuff up but wasn’t much of a problem. Overall the hotel was very clean, cosy & great.

The room we stayed in was quite hot, although a fan was provided after a while circulated warm air. The window didn’t do much but again understandable you can’t move a window lol. Maybe air conditioner unit or another fan would work.

Excellent location. Friendly pleasant staff . Very clean room. Fresh milk and water provided for the room which was well appreciated. Breakfast was very tasty one of the best we have had in the Lakes. The staff were very polite and cheerful throughout our stay.

Although the room was stated a cosy double room we felt at £160 inc breakfast it was overpriced as it was the tiniest room we have ever stayed in. However the bed was very comfortable.The room had no wardrobe to hang clothes in just an open wooden clothing rack. The room was very hot and was difficult to cool down even with the windows open however they provided a fan in the room.

Location is right at the town center. Walk down is the square. Also the room amidst small but it’s super cosy. Staffs no fuss, makes it easy for us. Breakfast starts later but they allow me to work in the area and even offer coffee ahead of breakfast time. Even though the room is small, the layout makes it so cosy and the room is what we like also. There are plenty charging power points around and adequate places to put your stuffs that somehow makes it tick. Everything superb!
