The room was quiet but for the afternoon/evening hours, since our window was just above an outdoor cafe/bar. We needed the circulation so we had to keep it open. By bedtime it was quiet again. The room was small, but that is usually the case in European accommodations. The beds were pushed together but they had set it with separate linens to accommodate 2 singles sharing the bed. The room had a sitting area between the bed and ensuite facility, furnished with a small divan, chair and coffee table. The furniture was not really needed and made the space seem even smaller. We only stayed one night so I suppose anyone staying longer would have found the sitting area accommodating. The room was very clean. The staff was extremely accommodating - twice retrieving 'lost' items, and even holding onto one we did not discover missing until several days after we had left town. We happened to be in Skiddaw later in the week, and on a chance we stopped by to inquire if they had perhaps found and saved it. They still had the item! This is an item that could easily have been tossed into the trash, not knowing it contained a dental retainer. That item would have been quite expensive to replace! The desk attendant tried to help us locate a taxi for our departing day's journey, but in the end none were available on short notice. Fortunately we discovered a public bus that took us right to the doorstep of our country guesthouse for a fraction of the cost!
No elevator to our room level, which was only problematic when we needed to move luggage.

The skiddaw is an excellent hotel. Spotlessly clean, friendly, helpful staff and amazing food! Both dinner and breakfast were great. The room was small and can get hot, but it was cosy and immaculately clean with a modern bathroom. To be fair it’s an old building that’s been there for a very long time so the size of the rooms is standard for that type of building. It’s decorated to high standard though and we had an amazing stay. Location is perfect being in the town centre of beautiful Keswick. This has become our go to hotel when staying in Keswick. Perfect.

Skiddaw was as we expected. Fortunate enough to park in hotel car park. Met by a very friendly concierge/check in clerk. Room was even better than expected due to what seemed recent bathroom renovation. We had a wander around the "locals" in Moot square so unfortunately didn't use your excellent conservatory bar. Sadly woken up by the council wagon in what seemed to be the middle of the night, dropping off market equipment. BUT this is NOT the hotels fault. Superb breakfast put us in a very happy mood. Evening meal was perfect, food, wine & lovely, hard working staff & to be fair, not over priced. Check out was simple. Thank you

We have stayed at the Skiddaw hotel a few times over the past 20+ years, so it was interesting to still see many of the same staff from all those years ago. Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, we enjoyed the breakfasts and found the bar very comfortable for evening drinks. we didn't eat at the hotel as there is an abundance of decent eating houses in Keswick.
One of my usual hang ups with hotels is paying for parking which applies here, and although no-one's fault, the fire alarm went off just after midnight and -5 degrees, so we all stood outside while the sole night person struggled to turn the alarm off (it was a false alarm) and had to knock up another member of staff at a sister hotel across the road to help.

Excellent location, helpful staff, spacious comfortable room, lovely breakfast. We particularly loved the conservatory and could have sat there all day watching the world go by.
Our room overlooked the front street and on market day the council were setting up stalls at 5.45am which was pretty noisy. Wasnt the end of the world for us but if you like a lie in you would have been disappointed. Having said that,, we did think it might have been noisier on a night time but we didn't hear a thing .

Great location right in the centre of Keswick so everything was so handy to walk to. Really friendly staff. Rooms were small but clean and fresh. Breakfast was very tasty. The whole hotel was decorated to a lovely standard so it felt super luxurious, enabling us to relax straight away and enjoy a really wonderful break in Keswick. Car park straight outside the back and they even gave me a permit at a cheaper rate for our stay which was nice.
On there breakfast menu it said farmhouse toast and lots of other nice things. In fact I sore them just using bags of normal hovis which was dissapointing for such an expensive breakfast, makes you wonder where the rest comes from. Room is pretty expensive for what it was but hey it's the lakes. The air con fan outside our room kept kicking on and off and was pretty noisy in the night which was a shame. I would of expected for £190 a night for them to replennish bottles of water in the room after we drank them but this didn't happen.

The location of the hotel is great for being able to walk around Keswick. We had a large twin room and it was a comfortable space. It was a long walk from the lift and had 2 sets of stairs to reach it. The dinner was of good quality but it was priced on the higher side so more for a special meal. Had we stayed for 2 nights we wouldn't have eaten in the hotel both evenings. The restaurant was busy but the service was still good. The breakfast was good but some of the buffet items were missing and were slow to be restocked.
The long corridor and accessibility to the room with cases wasn't easy.

Great location, great breakfast, easy parking, clean, comfortable, lovely bar and conservatory, lovely room
Only negative is the room opposite had their dog with them and at 7.30am they went out, leaving their dog in the room which cried and yelped for nearly an hour, after half an hour I tried to ring reception to inform them but the phone in the room wasn’t working. This wasn’t fair on the surrounding rooms at this time in the morning, personally I think in dog friendly hotels, dogs should bout be left in the room on their own for this reason

Very impressed with the beautiful interior of the hotel. Reception very good and efficient. Room was on the small side but beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Lovely choice at breakfast time and very well presented. Staff were all really nice and friendly.
A little noisy at night as we had a room facing the high street with several very busy bars so only to be expected. However it did quieten down later in the evening. Room was very hot with no way to cool it down.

Very nearly everything Staff were great and breakfast was excellent. Hotel was nice and had a good atmosphere Location is excellent
Hotel was really hot. It was a warm weekend but would dread to think what it would be like in July. Shower was great but climbing over a toilet to get into the bath wasn’t the best. Bathroom layout and facilities need a rethink. Was on the pricey side for a single room. But know it was a busy weekend in Keswick
