The B and B is in a central location, 5 minutes walk from most amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful. Food was normal B and B fare served with a smile. The parking disc was a good bonus. ( free parking locally.) I managed to spill orange juice all over my breakfast...they sorted me out another meal without any fuss.

The owners are doing a gradual refurb, so our room was a bit dated. ( though I was aware beforehand ). Due to its location, there is a lot of traffic outside which seems relentless during peak periods.

Meg and John (and Mia!) were very welcoming. Loved having the fire doors so can't hear any noises from other guests if they are on thw corridors late/early. Breakfast was really lovely - pancakes super fluffy. We would absolutely recommend and will stay again whenever we return to the lakes. Great location, central to most and very friendly. Mia the dog was so well behaved and a great little addition to the b&b. Meg and John both went out of their way to help and assist us with our weekend plans and can't thank you enough for that! Thank you for a delightful anniversary weekend. It really was the best

This is my first time staying anywhere where I genuinely think if I were to come back here I would stay here again intentionally. The owners are absolutely lovely. I ended up arriving early due to train strikes and even though they were still cleaning the room they gave me the key so that I could come back and enter my room whenever I was ready, and put my bag in my room for me.The breakfast is really generous which is amazing because from what I've seen you would probably be paying at least £15 for the same thing at a cafe or bistro here and they wouldn't be nearly as generous.When leaving the owners stopped to ask what I'd done with my time and about my plans and wish me well, even though they must have still been busy handling breakfast for the other patrons.Just genuinely lovely people, and a great place to stay. Honestly right next to the bus stop coming in and out of ambleside, and you have keys to come and go whenever you want. The front door is always locked so I felt very safe here.

The hosts Megan and John were lovely, nothing was to much trouble and they made us feel so much at home. The decor is very modern and clean through out," you even have a blue tooth speaker in the shower". Breakfast was first class and plenty of it . It is central to all the shops, pubs and restaurants plus its an added bonus to have a free parking pass!!!!!. If you are travelling out and about you can use your pass in certain car parks. The bus stop is a 2 mins walk and only £2.00 if you have to pay. Thankyou both for a lovely stay, we cant leave baby josh out 🤗, we will certainly be back again next year.

The guest house is in a great location, the hosts are amazing and the house is spotless. Our room was really nice with a very comfortable bed, kettle, coffee machine, tv and a radio alarm clock. The en-suite was lovely with ample shower gel, shampoo and towels. We have dietary requirements and the hosts could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing with a huge choice on the menu, there is something for everyone. Mia the dog is lovely too, she is so friendly!

The owners were really friendly and helpful. I was made to feel welcome and really enjoyed my stay at Compton House. Breakfast was excellent! The service was very good. I would highly recommend staying at this wonderful b&b. It is ideal if you are travelling by bus, as the main bus interchange at Ambleside is only a short walk away in the next street.

Had 2 nights great stay here early December 2023. Really friendly welcome. Breakfast was excellent, great choice including homemade pancakes as well as more traditional options. Really tasty and beautifully presented. Hosts were very helpful and parking is very close by. Car park permit can also be used in some other car parks in nearby towns during your stay. Single room was a good size very clean, well appointed and great shower. There is also a guest lounge. Thanks for a great stay.

The owners were so accomodating and friendly, they helped us out with the parking permit and they have an adorable well trained dog (but asked if we are okay with dogs first!) We are vegan and they whipped us up a breakfast easily. A walk away through the town of Ambleside is Stock Ghyll, an easy to reach small waterfall!

As I'm elderly I found getting in & out of the shower daunting because it was quite a deep step down to get into it & a high step to get out of it. There was a tiny plastic carry step to aid with this suitable for a toddler. I would have preferred a larger, more stable step.

It was a single person's room that was a little dated, but it was a very clean, very warm room, comfortable bed, a great shower, although a little on the small side for me. I like the owners very much, as they do a fabulous job.

The TV is situated on top of the small wardrobe. Once the owners modernise the room, it'll be really nice.
