The Location of Ferndale Lodge is excellent, within a couple of minutes' walk of the bus interchange and a couple of minutes further to the town centre ofAmbleside. Rob who owns Ferndale is very helpful, knowledgeable about the area and, sorry for the pun, accommodating! The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the shower was easy to operate.

I have stayed at Ferndale twice now, and, having stayed in a double for single occupancy the first time, and a single room on this last occasion, I would definitely pay the extra for the double , if available the next time. The single was very small (still good value for money) and the toilet a bit noisy.

We had a very large ground floor bedroom with a beautiful ensuite. Everything was immaculately clean. No shortage of hot water and the water pressure in the shower was very good. Car park was full but we had a permit which allowed us to park up adjacent to the property which was perfect. Easy walk into the very pretty Ambleside with great buses to the surrounding areas. Our host Rob and Rose were very helpful and there were lots of leaflets to help us make the most of our stay. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar were readily available and although no meal options we were shown a cupboard with dishes and crockery if we opted for takeaways. This was definitely a positive booking.

There is nothing we didn't like except we weren't able to stay longer. The Lake District is such a beautiful place and this house is in an ideal location to explore more.

The pet friendly rooms are perfect - separate from the main house you have your own front door so coming in and out with our furry friend was not an issue. This also means you aren't disturbing or being disturbed by others. These little suites are lovely - lots of space, comfy beds, fridge and unlimited access to tea and coffee. Ferndale has free parking which is a result and it is quite spacious The location is great - a five minute walk to the main town and maybe a fifteen minute walk to Waterhead, Rob, the host, is super helpful and communication was excellent. We have stayed here before and we will likely stay again

There is nothing wrong with the rooms at all We couldn't easily spot find the wifi code but Rob text it over as soon as we asked for it so not really a sad face just a pointer

The room was perfect for two people and two dogs on a budget. The little entrance way into the bathroom was useful to get two muddy dogs into the shower without having to go into the bedroom. Just enough room down the bed to fit the dogs crate. Comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot water for the shower. Host was very friendly and welcoming. Lovely view from the window when lay in bed

Car doors slamming on the car park made the dogs bark - something to be aware of if you have barking dogs. The parking situation means you could get blocked by another guest. We didn't need the car so not a problem for us but something to keep in mind.

The accommodation was very clean, the bed was comfy and the shower great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast wasn't included which was reflected in the cost. But there were a number of cafes close by that did delicious breakfasts. Our favourite was the altitude cafe which was above the climbing wall just next door to Ferndale Lodge. The private car park was small, but we were given a car park pass to use in the public car park right next to Ferndale Lodge. We also were able to use this pass in other surrounding villages.

The location was perfect, everything within walking distance. The hotel has its own car parking and for extra cars the host advised us on how to get the best price for the car park right next door to us (£1.10 for 24 hours). The room was perfect, lovely calming and clean deco with everything you could need. Given the quality of the room/ en suite/ location/ parking and welcoming host… the price is fantastic. I would definitely go back here.

It’s a shame it didn’t have breakfast facilities, but I can understand why it doesn’t.

The location is absolutely perfect; a stones throw from the shops, pubs and restaurants. We stayed in a pet friendly room with a private bathroom and it was very clean and comfortable. The heating system is very good so we were lovely and cosy - the weather was mostly fine during our stay but after a rainy walk or as the nights become more chilly, this will be a god send! Rob, the owner was brilliant with great communication.

There wasn’t much to dislike, to be honest! Parking is a little tight depending on how many people are staying but even when we had difficulty, Rob helped us out and resolved the issue very quickly!

The location was great, easy walking distance from everything in Ambleside. The house was very clean and quiet. We hardly saw other guests. Rosa, who checked us in, was helpful and informative. We arrived later than planned because of heavy traffic/accident on the M6, and she was very understanding. We knew that the room was small, it's why it was under £100 a night in peak season, but it was well-designed with a surprising amount of storage space. The bathroom was tiny but spotlessly clean.

The car park is small and it's impossible to park without blocking in other vehicles or being blocked in yourself. So you need to be able to coordinate with other guests to ensure you don't get stuck.

Loved the cleanliness and the room itself. It is very centrally located walking distance to Ambleside Town centre. Bus stop is also about 2 minutes of walk away. The room was very spacious, very clean and well lit. The host was very friendly and accommodating and even gave us mini fridge when we asked for it. We stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed our stay a lot!

I wish the property had a kitchen and offered breakfast. Would've been awesome.

Rob was exstreamly friendly and very helpful. We were able to park at the back of the venue and get our room key early so we cold enjoy a full day at Ambleside even though check in was not until 2 Rob made it so we were not waisting time waiting to check in so that was a bonus. very relaxed atmosphere the room was a nice spacious size and lovely and clean we had our own access to extra tea coffee and milk etc and even access to cutlery if we bought food back to the room. All information regarding the area and the venue were available on a well placed notice board and Rob and other staff were on call if needed. Rob also gave us ideas of what to do in Ambleside as it was our first time visiting. Very relaxing break
