The hotel was so wonderful. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Like to say thank you to Charlotte and all the reception and Manuel in the dinning room and all the staff 😀. The hotel was in a good location for local restaurants and had plenty of parking. Hotel appeared well maintained and was well staffed, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Spa facilities with large indoor swimming pool was a very relaxed area. Lift to 1st and 2nd floors perfect for transporting suitcases. Breakfast was very good with a vast range of options from full cooked breakfast, cereals, fruits, breads, continental meats/cheeses.

Limited shelf space in bathroom area to put any toiletries. TV in room had limited channels, couldn't pick up freeview and channel guide not available.

The hotel is in the centre of Ambleside and is a good location for local walks. The breakfast is a highlight of the week , excellent choice and quality and the service is second to none , wonderful , kind staff who bring a smile to your face. Nothing is too much trouble . This is our third year staying with the Salutation and have never been disappointed. There is nothing quite like being able to sit and relax in the excellent Spa after a challenging day out on the mountains . We will be back next year to do it all again !

The steamroom in the spa was out of action but did not spoil our stay

Excellent location, top of the main street and very accessible to the town - only a few minutes walk away from the main bus stops for touring the lakes. Staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. The lounge and bar areas are very comfortable for chilling (especially on rainy days). Room was a good size, and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was excellent, and the dining room staff friendly and helpful. Great that we could leave our bags there safely after checking out. Overall, a lovely stay in a quality hotel.

A little disappointed that we were in an annex, but in all honesty it seems that most of the rooms were in an annex. It just smelled a little damp as you entered, and we were in an upstairs room which is no good if you're less mobile. Our fridge was switched on, but it wasn't effective at keeping things cold. We had an issue with people smoking outside the front door to the annex (where there is a cigarette bin) late into the night, and as our room was directly above the main entrance, we had their smoke coming in through our open window.

The hotel & spa is absolutely lovely, so clean and tidy the beds are very comfortable the Wi-Fi is excellent. There is so much choice at breakfast OMG you have multiple choices from the buffet style for starters with loads of fruit options and pastries. Also porridge is available and if you like there's also a little pot of whiskey to go with it if you want more!! on top of all the above you can still have the impressive cook breakfasts with multiple choices on offer.. The staff were so friendly, courteous, helpful, and always go the extra mile to make sure your stay as enjoyable as possible. Nothing was too small and it was such a really lovely stay an amazing place to be at. This was our second visit at the hotel and spa for our wedding anniversary and we will definitely be going back again. Ambleside is a really lovely place with lots of things to do even if you're staying three or four days. I want to thank the staff at the hotel for such an amazing stay we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we had such a wonderful time.

There was nothing that I didn't like or couldn't fault it was absolute amazing place to stay.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They remembered our names and room from day 1. The room was really comfortable and warm despite the cold weather. The hot tub experience on the balcony overlooking the river was great. Everywhere was so clean and organised. We watched how quickly the lounge was cleared of furniture, new carpet layed, and everything put back without convenience. The staff in the restaurant really looked after us. We asked for a table in a darker part of the restaurant as my partner had light sensitivity. They remembered every day and dimmed the light. The food was lovely although we only ate in the evening once but had breakfast every day. We've joined the club so will be back later in the year.

There wasn't anything.

the room was fantastic and even included a jacuzzi bath which I hadn't expected. the breakfast was really very good, from the food choices to the service provided by the staff. the room lights wouldn't not work one morning as it had tripped, the maintenance team sorted it very quickly. took advantage of an add on treatment at the spa which was lovely as well.

the evening meal we had was not the best for us. there were a couple of plant based options and we chose the nut roast. it was nice enough but was more of a risotto really. the service was fine for the restaurant, just not our type of food.

Staff are excellent. All employees are super friendly and very helpful, especially during breakfast service. Location is spot on. Lift is useful if you have a few heavy bags with you or have some mobility issues. Lovely facilities. Enjoyed sauna and the gym was small but pretty well equipped to be honest. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of parking. Good WiFi. We loved it and would go back for sure.

Just a few small things but not something that would stop us from coming back. Mattress and pillows were too soft. Our 2nd floor bedroom had quite a low ceiling - my husband hit his head against the door spring several times and showering in the bath tub was a bit of a challenge (he’s 185). Something to keep in mind if you are very tall. No idea of other rooms are like that as the hotel has various rooms in different buildings.

Great location right in Ambleside but not too noisy, with free & mostly secure parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. Well cooked breakfast. Good leisure facilities.

The style of the bedroom furniture meant it didn’t really fit the room which was away from the main building. This resulted in the bed being too close to the bathroom making access more difficult than it needed to be. We tried the evening meal one day and although cooked well it wasn’t fine dining.

There is a lot to like about this hotel situated in the center of Ambelside. First of all the location - everything Ambelside has to offer is a stone's throw away. Staff are friendly and the rooms are comfortable and of a reasonable size. There is an excellent spa and pool. Breakfast is comprehensive and delicious. Evening meals are available and although we didn't dine there for dinner the menu is appealing with plenty of British favourites.

The car park is a bit of nightmare - to find a space and maneuver in. I would recommend parking elsewhere. The room was nice, but only offered a view of the dreaded car park.
