This is a lovely B&B in the stunning village of Ambleside. It's within walking distance to the village where there are lots of shops, pubs & restaurants. The room & bathroom are clean & the bed is comfortable. Breakfast is excellent! The staff are very friendly & the facilities are very good. There's onsite parking - can be a little tricky but not as tricky as some places we stayed at. We were on the top floor - if you struggle with mobility it's worth booking a ground floor room as there are quite a lot of stairs. Another good tip is to book any of the local restaurants early in the day as they book out fast. There are a lot of decent pubs to eat at that are easy to get into. There's also a laundromat a short walk towards the village. We would definitely stay here again.

I was delighted with the accommodation which was extremely comfortable,smart and very clean . The bed was very comfortable.Having free on line parking was a bonus .The breakfast was very good , excellent service ,nothing too much trouble ,I particularly liked the non cooked breakfast options.Home mixed Granola with nuts and mixed fruits in personal jars full of variety and so tasty .A nice choice of creamy yoghurt ,raisin au pain and excellent choice of cooked breakfast .The accomodation was very central and full filled all our needs .Andrea and Giles the hosts were lovely friendly and helpful. We loved the decor and 2 lovely lounges available and bar if needed.Thank you for a wonderful 2 days, our first time staying in Ambleside.Its been memorable and we look forward to returning.The very best of good wishes with this new business.I honestly felt you were professional s been doing this years .Well done and congratulations and Good luck

Nothing to dislike .

Delicious, relaxing breakfast with hot and cold options using local ingredients. Quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate selection in the room and at breakfast. Perfect location, only a 5 minute walk to the town or a 10 minute walk to Lake Windermere. The parking on site although small, was a huge bonus. Extremely clean everywhere, great service and friendly hosts, Andrea and Giles. We will certainly book here again for any future trips to the area.

We loved everything but perhaps remind guests on arrival that they will need to request to service the room / restock tea and coffee area - it is stated on a leaflet in the room but unfortunately we didn't read it thoroughly until it was time to leave!

The room was lovely clean, nice view, bathroom had a shower and bath, both worked perfectly. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room with a welcome of biscuits. There were hot chocolate sachets, as well as fruit teas. Breakfast was great, the poached eggs were done to perfection. The porridge was filling and delicious. All produce was sourced locally too. We had a top floor room, but on the next floor down was a stock of supplies of milk and sachets to take to the room for if you ran out. There were books to read and maps of walks if you wanted to use them. The location was great for the local restaurants, pubs and shops. We completed 2 walks from Ambleside, Wansfell Pike and Loughrigg Fell, we didn't use the car for the whole 2 days.

The pillows were a little hard for me, but it didn't affect my sleep. It was a great 2 day stay. We will definitely stay here again.

Just completed our short stay at the Elder Grove in Ambleside. To be honest, it was the first time we have stayed in a guesthouse for many years. We generally stay in hotels but find the prices are bordering on ridiculous and the quality consistently poor. The Elder Grove was the complete opposite. It was very friendly, professional, accommodating and squeaky clean. The breakfast was excellent and believe me an excellent review is not given lightly. It was very tasty, great produce and beautifully cooked. Well done sir. The whole experience was relaxing and unforced. A big, well deserved thank you from the two of us.

There wasn’t anything I would say I found so upsetting it spoiled our stay but as I am 6”5’ I found the bed could have been a little bigger but believe me I get that a lot. I would also have liked to find a way of removing the subtitles from the TV. I’m a bit of a technophobe and this puzzle was way outside my poor skills.

The location is very central, and having the facility to park at the property was a plus. Both hosts: Giles and Andrea were very friendly and attentive but not over the top. Our room (11) was very clean and had everything we required. There was no noise from other rooms and minimal road noise on the back of the house, so our stay was peaceful and quiet. Bed was soo comfy. The fan in the room was a 'god send' due to the beautiful warm weather on our stay. Breakfast was really tasty, with plenty of options to chose from.

Elder Grove is one of those places that you visit, which just feels right. As soon as you arrive, the welcome you receive is so warm and friendly. It felt like being at home, our stay was so comfortable and relaxing. The decor is beautiful and in excellent order. The bed was comfy, and the tea tray was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The breakfast they serve is exceptional, offering a wide variety of choices that are freshly made using top quality local produce. Our room was on the top floor overlooking the main road through Ambleside on the way to Bowness and Windermere, and the sound proofng is very good. We couldn't hear the busy road below. Elder Grove's location is perfect for visiting every part of the lake district with parking on-site and bus stops nearby. We will definitely recommend Elder Grove to our friends and family

Room was cosy and single bed was comfy, perfect for solo travellers like me. Breakfasts were delicious as there was plenty of selection, compliments to the chef. I must return in the future. Matthew was an excellent host during my stay, very friendly and gave excellent information and advise on walks in the area, also if you need any extra towels room cleaning etc you can ask him in the morning. Location was excellent, a 5 minute walk and your into the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants or alternatively you can walk 10 mins in the opposite direction and you'll ve at the pier.

Due to the room location and the sloping roof, It was tricky to shower without banging your head on the ceiling. Car park is tight but you can still maneuver your car into a space.

Great location and welcomed warmly by the owners. The off street parking was a bonus. Room was spotlessly clean and the addition of a great choice of tea's and coffee as well as a large bottle of water was very welcome. Breakfast was excellent with a wide and varied choice. Would recomend and we are already looking forward to returnimng at a later date.

There was nothing at all to dislike.

This is a lovely hotel - decent sized, comfortable rooms with quality bedding and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. There are lots of nice touches - there were Herdy mugs for tea and coffee (rather than the inevitable IKEA) and hot chocolate sachets/herbal tea provided too. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious, and the individual fruit salads were also high quality. Free parking is the icing on the cake! Location is perfect and we slept like logs. Will definitely stay here again.
