lovely staff. My Standard Room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfasts were enormous. Breakfast room was lovely. They did laundry quickly, which was a great help. I booked a Superior Room for my friend, and he said that was not necessary in this case because my room was perfectly acceptable to his higher standards.

I didnt argue about it because the staff was so nice, but my Standard Room did not seem any less expensive than the Superior Room I had booked ahead through Expedia. It might have been due to a devaluation of the dollar between fist paying dollars through Expedia then paying on arrival for the Standard Room i had booked directly with the hotel. Breakfast gave choices, but always the same. Toast not hot, no choice of croissants, muffins, or scones. Could not get coffee before 8.

-Breakfast was great -the meat seemed like it was from a butcher and it was all expertly cooked -very polite staff who were eager to help -the bed was soo comfy -loved the location: tucked away but only a 2 min walk from the shops and buses -our room was upgraded free of charge, though still was a little on the small side (it was a standard double)

-the water pressure in the shower was very poor, and I had to keep turning the temperature up or the hot water ran out -this is just a suggestion: adding a non-fried hot item to breakfast like pancakes or waffles would be lovely (though no pressure because I'm not sure many b&bs in the area do that)

There was a miscommunication between booking.com and the b&b and it didn't get picked up that I'd booked a dog friendly room until a few days before arrival. By this point they were fully booked but were happy for me to bring my dog despite not having a dog friendly room booked. On arrival I was upgraded free of charge to a dog front room as there was a last minute cancellation. The room was amazing with it's own door out onto the garden for easy access for the dog. Everything was clean and comfortable and I would highly recommend. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and breakfast was amazing.

Nothing to fault.

We were last there in September and it was starting to look a little tired. The new decoration has made such a difference. We loved room 10 which we have never stayed in before. Breakfast was good as usual but with a new presentation for the cooked breakfast. Excellent.

Nothing. But if being really picky, the blinds did let light in. Maybe not helped by the fact we kept the bedroom window open.

Lovely clean property walking distance from city center but quiet enough at night for those looking to get some good rest! The staff were very accommodating, and were happy to take on some advance requests such as providing a portable fan for our room and one for my parents' room. Very conveniently located. Good breakfast (included in my booking) - although portion sizes were rather small, especially for the avocado toast and scrambled eggs.

No fridge available in the room. Apart from this, no real worries or concerns.

When we arrived, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by Joanne. Our room was very clean and spacious, the bed was comfy with perfect pillows. Bathroom had the usual toiletries and plenty of hot water. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast, cold buffet or cooked items. Rothay Garth is like a home from home hotel nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel special. The centre of Ambleside is just a very short walk away where there are plenty of shops and eateries.

3rd stay here. Comfortable and great location.Good shower that doesn't flood the bathroom when used. Bathroom in good decorative order. Excellent breakfast with friendly, efficient staff. Parking in Ambleside is a big bonus and it's great to arrive and be able to leave the car until departure. Great to be able to pick up extra tea and coffee from reception desk if required.

We stayed in room 2, which we have not been in before. The room was lovely with a side view of the garden. However, walls were badly in need of a repaint, lots of peeling paint. We also had a broken chair in the room, which we fortunately discovered was broken when we placed a coat on it rather than sitting on it, which would have caused injury. The cleaner should have picked up on this.

Great stay and location. Victor was amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We had the dog friendly room on the ground floor, which was perfect for our little cockapoo Louis to get out into the garden whenever he wanted from a door in our room.Breakfast was lovely .Would definitely stay here again.Great location for Ambleside!

Only negative was that we had to have breakfast separately as our dog wasn't allowed in the breakfast lounge, which is understandable. Maybe we could have had breakfast in our room for a bit extra money

Staff are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast options are simple but effective. Parking is at a premium in Ambleside, so being able to park at such a centrally located property for free is a benefit.

A recently refurbished superior room (17) suffers from poor shower pressure. You'll turn it on, and have great cold water pressure until the hot water kicks in, then it's a trickle. We were unable to find the advertised 'Tea/Coffee maker' - it ended up being just me using the kettle!

The host Joanna was welcoming and friendly, taking the time to show us the breakfast room location, explain the hours of breakfast, check-out and then our room. Joanna also had a great local knowledge of restaurants and the area, with good communication pre-arrival, a warm welcome and check-in time confirmation. Our room had been very kindly upgraded from a standard double room to a deluxe double room upon arrival, as we were very late past out estimated time, having taken the advantage of the great weather to tour around the area all day from our drive down from Ayr. The room was very spacious, comfortable and well equipped, a very handy ground floor location with direct access to the car park for luggage retrieval. Car parking was easy access, located right at the B&B. We had no trouble finding a space, even at our arrival time of 6pm. The B&B is very well situated, right in the town, within a short walking distance to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was great, lovely and fresh, hearty, served in a lovely sun room facing the small pretty garden.
