The hosts, Adie & Mandy are fantastic - so happy to share recommendations of places to visit, where to eat etc. Our room was very comfortable & had everything you could possibly need. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the breakfast is truly amazing- such a great choice & everything is cooked to order, so perfectly fresh. The location is ideal as you’re just off the main road, so easy to walk to the shops & restaurants but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep Would have no hesitation in recommending Brantfell House if you’re looking to stay in Ambleside

Mandy and Adie were brilliant. Really looked after us. I don't think I've stayed somewhere with such attention to detail before. Highlights: - Secure place to park up and leave the car - Excellent breakfast that catered for all dietary requirements - Super comfy bed in a lovely room - Really hot weekend but the room had been kept as cool as possible and a quiet fan was available for the evening Perfect location to the start line for the Lakeland runs.

No issues with the stay

From the minute we arrived, fabulous greeting - explained breakfast, how to contact them if we needed anything, met my other half outside to sort the parking, showed us to the room - even carried my bags up. Breakfast was excellent with more choices than some big hotels. Catered for our dietary requirement too. Location = you're literally on the high street. Lovely and chatty, recommended walks and gave us directions.

Nothing - the room was compact but we booked 'small double', so cant be fairer than that.

Very friendly welcome from the owners , couldnt have been mere accommodating. Allowed us to check in early and upgraded our room which was lovely . Attention to detail amazing, quality bedlinen, fluffy towels, little unique bathroom accessories and free toiletries all added to make our stay very comfortable . Breakfast was cooked to order and was so tasty and filling . Very local to everything and being able to obtain a parking pass from the hotel meant the parking was free. This place is outstanding and if we are visiting ambleside again would we would definitely return.

We absolutely loved our stay at Brantfell House. While the accommodation is lovely, well designed and stocked up with everything you could need, and the location was absolutely perfect, it is Mandy and Adie that make this stay so special. You will feel like you are arriving at a friend’s house, the way these two wonderful humans take care of you. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The town is certainly our pick of the district. It’s an easy walk to the ferry to get a boat to Windermere - or the buses are affordable and frequent. Do yourself a favor and stay and Branfell House.

The location is excellent right in the centre of the village. Easy to walk to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. Adie and Mandy were the most welcoming hosts, so friendly and attentive and knowledgeable about the local area. There is no parking at the property, but Adie gave us a permit so that we could park nearby. The room was spotless, and the breakfasts were fabulous. It was our first stay at Brantfell House, and we'll definitely be back.

Adie and Mandy are exceptional hosts - engaging, friendly and full of helpful advice. The rooms are very clean with good attention to detail and breakfast was excellent. The location is perfect - only a few steps into the heart of Ambleside and yet quiet in the rooms. Brantfell would definitely be our first choice on future visits to the area and we will be returning. Highly recommended.

Nothing - we thoroughly enjoyed every part of our stay.

After two overnight stays elsewhere, one very poor and the other very cramped indeed, this was absolute bliss. And when I arrived, the proprietor insisted on carrying all my (unnecessarily heavy) luggage up to my 2nd floor room.

The windows were a bit fiddly to open as they were behind venetian blinds - but that's a very minor grouse indeed.

The hostesses did their best to make us feel at home. Very warm and friendly. Good recommendations too. Breakfast was very tasty, good options, very good coffee. Very clean and homey. Quiet rooms, with nice view, very close to the main bus stops, and to the center of the town. Very good lighting. Good shower. Location great to paths and other towns.

Should be a bit more flexibility with the breakfast. The porridge was good, but a small serving in a big bowl. Perhaps I was spoiled by the London buffets. More annoying is the absence of a basic map of the area. The owner did his best to explain, but are a long tiresome ride and an elderly memory, nothing beats an old fashioned map. (I think that this may be typical of the town. Even their "Tourist Information" is stingy - as opposed to more tourist friendly towns, like Windermere and Keswick). The mattress was comfortable, but the bed could be on the small side for really big people. Or maybe they have more sizeable beds in other rooms.

The breakfast was 1st class, cooked perfectly, hot and tasty. The hotel was immaculately clean. The accommodation was perfect. But the best of all were our hosts Adey and Mandy they were so welcoming and friendly with great knowledge of the area.We will definitely return.

TV reception in our room hit and miss, but this did not spoil our visit in any way.
