Just loved this hotel and location. We used it as a base to explore all of the Lake District over our 3 day stay. Breakfast was so good and kept us going most of the day, lovely and so much to eat. The staff were lovely, we didn’t get to know them too well as we were away most of the time and are both very private people. We ate two of the three evenings we stayed there and the food was delicious and such a friendly situation. We can’t praise this hotel enough.

Absolutely nothing, we had everything we wanted. There are always the usual moaners who feel they have to knock the places they have stayed but we felt this hotel provided us with all we needed.

Food was especially good - very good bar meals, and outstanding breakfasts, with lots of options and generous portions. Staff were excellent, especially the breakfast staff. Room was very comfortable, with an outstanding double shower, very comfortable bed, very good heating (needed in the Lakes in February!).

The wifi is a disaster and will prevent me from returning, I'm afraid. Partly because it just refused to work on two of my three devices, but mainly because it is set up so you have to register, giving not only your email address but also your phone number, date of birth (!) and gender (!!). You can't opt out. Requiring sensitive personal information in these days of identity theft is unforgivable. It's not the Queen's Head's fault, but the owning group (Robinsons), and they need to change this wifi system. (And I couldn't get 4G anywhere.) The only other small thing which would have been better would be to have a small shelf or flat surface of some kind in the bathroom.

The hotel from the outside does not reflect the welcome, staff and food inside. Our room was quirky but comfortable and has obviously been renovated recently. The food is the star of this hotel along with the staff. A hot breakfast was a real surprise, i mean the food was both hot and tasty, with multiple choices to support your hunger status. The evening meal was just as good. The location is great being close to Pooley Bridge and Penrith.

The window in the bedroom did not close properly but this was a really minor inconvenience.

Lovely, stylish rooms, nice comfy bed and easy check in. Loved that it's dog friendly. Perfect stop gap for a night or two. Great breakfast!

As others have mentioned the incinerator toilet noise takes some getting used to! Definitely bring your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper... I also booked this hotel knowing they had WiFi as I had a work call in the morning, but sadly after dozens of attempts to connect it didn't work for me.

The room was lovely, the bed and facilities were just what was required. It was clean, tidy with no concerns. The staff were awesome. We had a meal which was delicious and great value for money

Through no fault of the owners, its a very old building and the plumbing was somewhat noisy. There was also an issue with the wi-fi which the staff explained on arrival, somethings can't be helped and didn't affect our stay.

Evening and meal was amazing! Good selection of drinks and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Quite enjoyed the outside facilities as it was a warm evening so we had a few drinks outside.

I personally wasn't a fan of the pillows in the rooms, usually I take my own but forgot. Toilet makes a really loud noise when flushed so was hesitant to flush it during the night in case I woke other guests.

There are places you go to in life with little expectation that blow you away with what they deliver. This is such a place. The layout is odd, due to the 300 year old property, but finished to a very high standard. Very friendly staff, pet friendly, fantastic open fire, wonderful real ale and the food was great. It was THAT good I'm planning the return trip with the wife as the facilities were so good. Our room was a twin, it was found to be immaculately clean with a sparkling bathroom. The room was warm without being overbearing and the hot water was hot...not just lukewarm. Stunningly fantastic place.

Nothing. This is as perfect as it gets......with extra character thrown in. I didn't like the fact that it wasn't located in my village. As we were on motorbikes we even met a MAG committee man and talked about adventures. If you were to design a village inn, I would model it on the Queens head.

Lovely and simple breakfast procedure overseen by staff member of Mandy . My partner opted for the "walkers breakfast" and myself for the vegan option . Both days our breakfast was nicely prepared and served hot and tasty along with fresh juices and fresh coffee . The staff Mandy on Breakfast & also Housekeeping . Helen on front of house /Bar service were polite helpful and accommodating. A really lovely stay and we will re visit before the end of this summer .

All in all a lovely stay . There are no negative comments to add

A very pleasant if too short stay in an inn dating back to 1719. The accommodation upstairs is modern but the rooms downstairs, particularly the bar areas are those of a proper traditional pub. A great place for an evening meal and a pint before retiring. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly.

It went down to minus five so it took a while to defrost the car!

The whole place is fantastic. Breakfast was amazing - great start to the day. The food was really good - especially the steak pie. The room was spacious with great coffee making facilities & Fresh Milk in bottles was much better than cartons.

Room 7. The macerator in the bathroom was very noisy. The beds are not fixed to the headboard & easily slide on the floor, meaning that if you leant up against the head board, the bed would move.
