Absolutely gorgeous property in an idyllic location. The view from our room looked out over the gardens and lake through huge, period Georgian windows which let in plenty of light. The hall is crammed with period features and history, and surrounded with stunning views. We stayed in the Junior suite with 4 poster, and can highly recommend.

This place is lovely, welcoming, and homely, run by family members as a team. The only downside (and it's not really a downside at all, more a point to bear in mind) is the more limited choice of evening meal compared to a "foodie" stay.

The welcome was very pleasant and the view of the lake was spectacular from the apartment door. The layout was good with a decent kitchen, well equipped with a full sized oven, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The bathroom had a bath and walk in shower. There was a dining table for two, plenty of storage and perfect for self catering. Outside was a small, covered patio with rattan seating and a table - perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun.It was a peaceful, beautiful spot. Near to Helvellyn , Grasmere and Keswick with a decent pub down the road.

There were a few oddities - a newish bathroom which has a full large tile missing from the wall, the towels were ragged and need replacing and we had to clean out the shower drain to prevent the shower tray from overflowing. The curtains would benefit from cleaning.

Absolutely amazing. Booked a room at the last minute for an impromptu trip and so glad that I chose this hotel. Due to a massive drive and some road related challenges, was delayed getting up there and managed to secure myself some last minute dinner made by the host, very kind of him to do that for me 20 minutes after the bar technically closed. The host was great to chat to for a bit and although I've seen other reviews saying that hotel is dark and spooky, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Woke up to an absolutely amazing lake view. Would have spent the whole day in my room staring at it! Breakfast was great and the staff were amazing. The room was very spacious, and I had a bath and a shower. Although the water pressure in a shower was a little weak, I made it work. The room smelt a little damp but wasn't an issue. Family run, full of history and an absolute gem by a lake. Will definitely return! Loved it and kept joking about squatting there :)

Dale Head Hall is a lovely hotel fit with everything you'll need to enjoy a few nights away in the Lake District. It's positioning means it's easy to drive to all of the hikes you could possibly want to do in no time and the actual hotel is lovely to wake up in every morning and look out on thirlmere reservoir. The staff were amazing and attentive, the breakfast was delicious and set us up well for the day but once again I cannot undersell how amazing THE VIEW is in the morning. Whether it's the moment you first open your blinds or sitting having coffee out the front of the house, it does not get less remarkable. All in all a lovely trip away for my partners birthday.

Great location, comfortable beds and rooms. breakfast was brilliant. very clean. Great grounds and views evening meal was home cooked and tasty. will at some point return to this hotel. Staff brilliant and very welcoming was definitely worth the price we paid

It's not really an issue, but WiFi is very slow, but it's getting updated over the next few weeks. evening meal menu was limited as they have only just re started serving food, but it was very nice . hotel shows signs of needing a bit of a fleshing up.

Breathtaking view of lake from bedroom & amazing scenery of hotel grounds.Spacious room, was so peaceful & excellent breakfast not to mention quick service. Like the idea of staggering breakfast times for guests. One of the best hotel breakfasts ive had! John is a lovely host & very accomodating!! Old features of building & rooms retained which gave it a lovely cosy victorian feel

As it is an old historic building understand floors maybe slightly at a slope which meant bed also sloping when laying down. Toilet door lock was off centre so couldnt lock or close fully was always ajar (Rm5) Salt & pepper would be nice on breakfast table. Drive upto car park alittle tight not enough room for 2 cars- oncoming would need to reverse or vice versa. Not bad things just improvments. Despite this shall defo recommend & stay again!!

Dale Head Hall is magical. Stayed there a couple of years back and I can only say nothing has changed. Its as fantastic as it was the first time. The staff were brilliant and very attentive. The breakfast was excellent and thank you for adding the vegan option which wasn't available on our first trip. Amazingly awesome if you love your countryside experiences. No cell reception made our day. Thank you Dale and all your staff for another fantastic stay. We hope to stay again soon.

Our view at breakfast and the items on offer were excellent, the service matched the quality of the cooked breakfast and despite being the only guests, no level of service was omitted.

As we were the only guests and we’d reserved a room twenty minutes before our arrival (19:00) the room was cold. However the bar was manned and we were content to while away some time with gin and wine until we were ready for bed. After which we found the room and facilities very comfortable.

Dale was a fantastic host and couldn’t have done enough for us. He kindly informed us we’d been upgraded to a nicer room which had an amazing view of Thirlmere with a patio and asked us for any dietary requirements for breakfast. We told him we’re both vegan but didn’t expect much, they actually took the time to nip out and get some vegan sausages and oat milk. We had an oat meal porridge with toast for breakfast which was really nice however there were other options available. Breakfast doesn’t usually start til 08:15 which would have meant we wouldn’t have had time to eat on our last day due to an activity we had booked early morning. I spoke to Dale the evening before and he was able to see to us at 8 so we could make it. Great experience, we will definitely come back

Nit-picking here but the breakfast room could do with a little music or something as it’s quite a small room and can be a bit awkward dining with other guests very close in an echoing room. Everything else was perfect.

All the staff were very attentive and friendly. The property is by a lake and has a well-maintained garden with incredible views across the lake to the hills on the other side. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food available. They also provided me with a vegan breakfast as requested. Our room was in a part of the property from the 1570s and you could feel the history.

It was a great hotel for visiting the Lakes so I have no complaints. But, in an ideal world, faster WiFi would be good. And a smart TV with access to catchup TV, YouTube, etc.
