Jean was very accommodating and was available upon arrival to make sure I was settled. Very kind lady as despite I was needing to leave early, still offered Continental breakfast for me in the morning. The decor is not modernised however this shouldn't put you off, as this place felt like a welcoming family home. The location is fantastic, especially for hiking helvellyn or other local walks and close to the lakes. I would absolutely stay here again.

The fridge being next to the bed is a little noisy (standard fridge noise), however I sleep through anything so didn't bother me at all, just recommend if you are a light sleeper maybe pack some ear plugs. I also was happy that I got a fridge as was able to keep my lunch in it for the next day - bonus feature in my opinion.

We loved the history of the property told by Jean. She spent her valuable time chatting with us. It was a pleasant change to have all guests eat at the same time around a single large table. The location is lovely and quiet and in walking distance of a great pub for an evening meal. We will definitely stay again. Thanks Jean for making us welcome.

The barn is located in a picturesque place with a great mountain view. The house has its own and unique history which is easy to notice through the exterior and interior design. A friendly host who cooks full English breakfast will leave noone indifferent.

It took me some time to understand how the shower worked

Jean is a wonderful host, the breakfast was absolutely superb and the room was lovely.

The only complaint was of a slightly loud fridge in the room, being a light sleeper and that the location late at night is extremely quiet, the fridge did wake me up a couple of times. But to be fair, I'm nitpicking because I struggled to find anything really wrong with my stay.

Great loacation,Jean was very welcoming and interested in my visit, she is very knowledgible about the area. The room was big enough for me and the facilities were great, very warm room and the bed was very comfortable.A great base for both Keswick and Ambleside, being near the main road but not to close to enjoy peace and quiet,a great location I will be back.On arrival a lovely easter cake was waiting for me in my room a nice touch and a lovely thought,Jean is a very thoughtful and professional host,on my return to my room on the second day I find a lovely slice of cake waiting for me totally spoilt.

Nothing.

The whole property was homey, just what we wanted for a relaxing stay away from the city. We loved the full English breakfast served by the house owner herself. We felt very welcomed by Jean. The home has a very traditional British and homey feel to it. The location is a perfect retreat as it is located at a scenic, accessible and quiet location. It’s in between Keswick and Ambleside. Plus the thirlmere infinity pool and waterfall is just a hike away which can actually be seen from our bedroom window.

None.

Jean welcomed us in her beautiful house and made us at home. We could enjoy the lounge and visit. There was everything we needed. We were even treated to a welcome piece of home baked chocolate cake with our tea and fresh milk. Warm and spacious rooms beautifully decorated and clean. Super shower and soft towels. Lovely and quiet. Superb breakfast. Jean is a wonderful host. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Nothing.

A lovely overnight stay in this cozy farmhouse close to Thirlmere at the foot of the Dodds. The landlady was friendly and welcoming and my room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the fresh milk in the fridge and the Thelwell loo seat 😆 The tasty full English breakfast in a traditional dining room setting was perfect for setting me up for the day. Just a 10 minute walk to the nearby pub and then on a little further to Thirlmere itself.

The host was very pleasant and cooked a good breakfast in the morning. The single ensuite room was more than adequate for my needs.

Everything was fine. I knew before arriving that i would have to jump in the car to grab an evening meal - Keswick is not far away.
