Food, Staff and Location very good
Dogs. We love dogs but there were too many dogs in the hotel. In the restaurant we counted 10 dogs. Some were well behaved, some not i.e. Barking, Growling and doing what dogs do. If hotels allow dogs, there should be a allocated area for them only.

Hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. First built in the 18th century and views that go on for miles. The room we stayed in was lovely, clean and tidy but we did have to ask for some teabags as all they had in the room was coffee . The view from our window was of the roof to the adjacent building, so I was disappointed as we'd spent a fair bit. We had an evening meal our first night, which was outstanding and price wise, about the right for a 4-star hotel. . Service was great, the staff were lovely and very freindly
Breakfast was a slightly different story. The menu was as expected, cooked full English, etc. But I was extremely disappointed in the choice for the people who didn't want a hot breakfast. You had a choice of cereal or a small fruit bowl!! No pastries and we had to ask for butter for the toast. We actually had a better choice at the Best Western we stayed at.

Lovely smaller hotel with character, although on a main road, very peaceful. The staff were lovely and friendly, very helpful. Very dog friendly hotel, towels in the entrance if your pooch is a bit soggy when you get back, they are allowed in all areas of the hotel. The food was delicious, breakfast and evening meals. Award winning pie, well worth the award, quite a lot of areas to eat, not limited to the dining room and never felt over crowded or rushed. Best hotel I've stayed at in the lakes despite the bathroom and parking but will definitely go back, fabulous!!
There was not a lot of space in the bathroom between toilet and sink. Parking spaces are limited and difficult if you arrived back late. But the sister hotel over the road allowed us to park despite their car park only being small. Minor issues really we stayed 3 nights and only struggled to park once.

Myself and my partner have just spent three nights in the cottage for my 50th birthday and it was magical. Expectations were high from reading previous reviews and we were not disappointed. The cottage itself is idyllic, the perfect size and the terrace is a wonderful place to spend an evening with a bottle. The breakfasts were delicious and the evening meals were outstanding. What made the stay for us was the staff, a special shout out to Sam who looked after us very well and made us feel like we were in a home from home. We are already looking forward to returning, hopefully in the near future, but definitely for my 51st!!! Thank you for a memorable birthday, we had a wonderful time. x

Absolutely beautifully restored Manor. Every reception room was an experience. The dinners and breakfasts were exceptional. Amazing Chefs. Rooms are very cozy, even though we had one of the smallest rooms it was really lovely with a fantastic view, I can’t imagine there would be a “bad” room in this hotel. The staff are polite professional and helpful, and some of them are very friendly and cheerful. I love that the place is so dog friendly, even the outside guests who come regularly just for dinner, expect there to be dogs around at dinner. Don’t come to this hotel if you don’t like dogs because the dogs are definitely special guests here. Our dog loved it.
There’s no fridge in the room, so nowhere to keep things you might buy out in town, like ham, cheese, fruit, chocolate, creme… We planned on walking/hiking and wanted to make our own sandwiches and bits to take with us, but ended up just buying outside instead, which gets pricey and inconvenient in the Lakes. There’s also not an iron or hairdryer provided in every room. They will give you one if you ask, but it’s something (in my opinion) that should just be provided as standard in a hotel of this calibre. There are kettle and tea/coffee/biscuits refreshed everyday which is lovely. I would still recommend the hotel and would love to stay again.

Where to start there are so many positives top of the tree has to be the wonderful friendly staff who made our stay all the more special and the food in the restaurant I was convinced Gordon Ramsey had cooked our meal it was exceptional the building itself has a magnificent character all of its own it has such a warm welcoming atmosphere the perfect location to just escape to for a peaceful weekend away also there’s something homely about the other guests having their beloved dogs with them the bar and lounge are just perfect for a chilled evening drink before bed
If I had to find a fault I’d have trouble and need to be very fussy

The staff are really lovely, they are all really friendly and go our of their way to help. The food was excellent, the breakfasts were lovely and the dinners we had there were really lovely. The view from the room was amazing. The outdoor seating was lovely and it's really handy for Keswick. It's also less than an hour from the south lakes (e.g. ambleside). There were a couple of really small issues with the room when we checked in (radiator stuck on and loose handle) but we mentioned these at reception and they were fixed right away. We had such a a lovely time we ended up booking an extra night and would definitely love to go back.

The food was absolutely delicious the service excellent with very friendly staff and it was wonderful as a dog friendly hotel. Our dog was allowed to join us anywhere in the hotel including the restaurant at breakfast and during our evening meal. The views from the bedroom window and outside terrace were beautiful and the location super. We could even go for a beautiful walk on the doorstep of the hotel Dodds Wood circular with a very rewarding view at the top!
The only thing we can mention is in future we will book a King Size bed as the double was too small for us being used to a King Size at home otherwise nothing to complain about at all so thank you!

Ravenstone manor was a really great stay for me and my dog to explore the local area for a long weekend. Staff were super friendly and attentive, food was good and other public places were comfy and welcoming. It’s super dog friendly meaning my pup could join me for breakfast, dinner and in the bar. It’s really close to Dodd wood and Mirehouse gardens which we really enjoyed and as well as Keswick!
Some more outside space would be nice, but understand the space is limited due to the location on the hill. A little bit on the expensive side for a small single room, but I did stay on a bank holiday weekend and it was a treat to myself!
