Overwater hall is in a very quiet location surrounded by countryside, but within easy reach of local attractions. The hall is very traditional and comfortable. The gardens are lovely, enjoyed watching the red squirrels and birds with a drink on the lawn. The food was excellent, the menu varied and all dishes beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and offered a traditional service. They made our dog very welcome and were happy for us to eat with our dog in the bar.

There is poor WiFi access, this wasn’t so important to us as we were glad of the peace but may be important to others.

What an absolutely exceptional property. Consider this more than just a hotel, or restaurant. Consider it an old-world, country lodge experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel unique and special, and this continued until we left. The food is exceptional, genuinely the best meal we’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. All in all, you need to give this hidden gem a visit. The beautiful building, helpful staff, old world traditional charm and incredible food all add up to an amazing stay.

Welcoming staff, beautiful building/rooms, lovely gardens/surroundings, easy to get to some nice walks nearby (Binsey/Sale Fell), delicious breakfast. Overhearing nearly every other guest say that they've stayed many times before gives confidence that it's a good hotel.

Phone signal was non-existent, and the WiFi didn't work from the room (needed to stand near the downstairs reception to get a small amount of WiFi). It didn't impact our stay (if anything, it improved it), but worth noting in case it's a necessity.

Charming from the first moment, everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout our stay. The food was outstanding (both dinner and breakfast), great selection of drinks in a cosy bar, spacious rooms & beautiful grounds. There’s a range of thoughtful little touches, like home-baked shortbread with the tea & coffee supplies in the room or starched linen napkins at dinner. And the same warm hospitality was extended to our small children. We were very impressed and look forward to returning.

Lovely room, spotless , comfortable and very tasteful decor, with garden view, bathroom was huge with both bath and separate shower. They provided in our room a nice selection of teas, cafeteria coffee, home made shortbread, a bowl of fresh fruit and a home made liqueur nightcap for two which was delicious! Stephen and his staff were friendly and welcoming. We didn't get chance to explore the 18 acres of grounds, but what we could see from our room looked lovely. Food was excellent too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Overwater Hall Hotel, the ambience, the professionalism of all the staff to a very high standard. Breakfast was served, and very nice with a lot of choice from the Breakfast Menu. The Evening meal was outstanding, from the A La Carte Menu, beautifully served, I haven’t had food cooked and presented to that standard for many a year, excellent. The Lake District does not have a great reception for Wi-Fi and mobile phones, the Hotel has wi-fi but be aware you don’t always get a signal, that’s good if you want to relax from todays technology. We took our dog, and they were very accommodating, he loved the walks in the grounds.

I cannot fault anything about the Hotel.

Lovely old world charm. The pictures don't do the rooms justice. The food and the service were both excellent.

It was a but quiet for us. Everybody had gone to back to their rooms by 9,30 leaving us alone in the bar. No the hotels fault obviously. I thought it would be an amazing place to have a murder mystery weekend with your friends

We had a fantastic stay... great service , food, and location. Staff were very attentive. The room was large and very comfortable. All the small touches were much appreciated. The location was very serenere and peaceful . A hidden gem for sure.

The welcoming and friendly staff, their attention to detail and our every comfort was impeccable, and they were really nice people, too. The furnishings and decor were first class. It was a quiet and peaceful location and extensive walks were there, right from the door.

Just the mattress on the bed was not the greatest. A new pocket spring would have made for a better night's sleep.
