Food, Staff and Location very good

Dogs. We love dogs but there were too many dogs in the hotel. In the restaurant we counted 10 dogs. Some were well behaved, some not i.e. Barking, Growling and doing what dogs do. If hotels allow dogs, there should be a allocated area for them only.

Ravenstone manor was a really great stay for me and my dog to explore the local area for a long weekend. Staff were super friendly and attentive, food was good and other public places were comfy and welcoming. It’s super dog friendly meaning my pup could join me for breakfast, dinner and in the bar. It’s really close to Dodd wood and Mirehouse gardens which we really enjoyed and as well as Keswick!

Some more outside space would be nice, but understand the space is limited due to the location on the hill. A little bit on the expensive side for a small single room, but I did stay on a bank holiday weekend and it was a treat to myself!

Had the most amazing New Years Stay at Ravenstone Manor. The hotel is on Bassenthwaite Lake with beautiful views and direct paths up Skiddaw. Fantastic location for good access to the Northern lakes. Food in the restaurant was exceptional. Very helpful staff who were friendly and open. There was different spaces to sit - the living room had great views of the lake. And the nook had a roaring fire to have a drink by after a long days walking. The hotel was unique in that it was extremely dog friendly. I don't have a dog but love animals and loved being surrounded by animals all day with their friendly owners! Would highly recommend and would stay again! In fact, I actually extended my stay by a day!

Very little. The single room was very cosy - had to unpack my bag then put it back in the car. As others have said the parking was a little tight. .

We had such a nice stay at Ravenstone Manor - the staff were friendly from start to finish and so accommodating of/lovely to our dog who prefers quieter spots. In the room, the bed was so comfy, we slept really well, the view was stunning, and the bath was very welcome for our walk weary legs! It was spotlessly clean with a good selection of choices for a brew and biscuits. Location is great - took us 10 minutes to get into Keswick, 15 to get to Whinlatter Forest, and we did the Dodds Peak walk which was directly accessible next to the hotel. The food in the restaurant was delicious for both our evening meal and breakfast. We'd definitely stay again and have recommended to family.

The food was excellent. Great food and generous portions. Downstairs there were several different sitting areas, which were great. The location was good if you like walking. It was fairly near Dodd Wood; and a short drive into Keswick or a slightly longer one to Cockermouth. Very friendly staff. A nice informal atmosphere. Brilliant if you are a dog-owner or like dogs - the hotel makes a point of being very dog friendly. Certainly, we would stay there again.

The room we had was Ok, but not brilliant. I would have preferred a writing desk as I had to do some work on my laptop. The water pressure in the shower was Ok, but again it would have been nice to have higher pressure.

The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly situated for long or short walks. The rooms are lovely, though the room we had did feel a little small, but it was a double and the bed was AMAZING! Best nights sleep in a long time. The staff are what makes this place in my opinion. We were leaving early for a spa nearby and although breakfast didn't start til 8 the lovely girl at the desk arranged for the morning staff to start early and accommodate us for an early breakfast. The lady and gent at breakfast made us feel so comfortable even though I felt awful for starting their day early 🙈 This is not found in other places, so it was lovely for them to do that. The breakfast was beautiful and the produce was exceptional. I would definitely return and have told everyone about how fantastic the staff were. From arriving to leaving. You're doing amazing and you should all be very proud.

Room was quite small but fine for 1 night.

Clean comfortable relaxed We met the chef and just mentioned the menu had changed from the on line version and were disappointed as was looking forward to the black pudding starter. On hearing this she sourced some black pudding and created the best started I’ve ever tasted for the following evening . Outstanding service and went up and above what was expected, the whole team in the hotel were excellent

A female member of staff was a pocket rocket! She was excellent when she wasn't on reception, serving dinner/breakfast she would be sweeping outside. She was on the go all the time, a brilliant, cheerful chatty member of the team. I just wish I'd got her name. I loved my room for the views and the decor.

The downside to our room was the smell of dog. I love dogs but don't really want to sleep in a room where dogs have been. In my opinion, it would be better to have rooms allocated to specific rooms for people to bring their dogs to. The only other issue I had was my wife is coeliac and cannot eat gluten. She had to return dishes a few times although it was discussed at each meal. Breakfast however was not a problem and really delicious.

Virtually everything about this hotel impressed us. From its Arts and Crafts interior, tastefully modernised to the fabulous breakfast and friendly staff. The bedroom was small, but nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. The evening meals were excellent and the bar well stocked. The staff decorated the public rooms for Christmas during our stay and the place looked stunning , especially with the roaring fires. Our dog was made super welcome- we loved the little touches like the supply of towels by the door and special sausages provided for breakfast. The most dog- friendly hotel we’ve stayed in. The location is great for walks and for exploring the Northern Lakes.

Me and my partner stayed here to celebrate my birthday. We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff were all so friendly, the place is decorated beautifully and felt incredibly cosy, and they even have their own brand of gin so what's not to love? Our room had a fantastic view of the lake which was amazing to wake up to. My partner and I are real foodies, and were really impressed by the food! The prices felt reasonable for the portion sizes, too. The breakfast was excellent, rare to find scrambled eggs done so well! Overall we absolutely would stay here again!

Well, nothing really! As we left, we joked about trying to think up negatives we could say, and we came up with three small things that aren't really worth mentioning (pillows not being exactly to our taste etc). But there was nothing that actually made the stay less enjoyable!
