Beautiful views, great facilities and staff. Cake and coffee on arrival was a great touch!

The only negative thing was the portion size at breakfast. The food was beautiful, but as a family, we have big appetites and one sausage, one piece of bacon and half a slice of black pudding on the full English didn't touch the sides!!

Beautiful location - excellent spot to explore the Lake District. Would recommend Ghyll Scrambling and also Basenthwaite Lake was ideal for starters to wild swimming. Bassenthwaite Lake Railway was then lovely and unique for lunch (had a beautiful walk onside ideal for dog walk). Staff at hotel were brilliant and the food at the hotel was delicious. Apartment was spacious and had an outside seating area where the views could be enjoyed. My son said their jam at breakfast was the best ever - freshly made at the hotel. We ate at the hotel every night as we enjoyed the food so much - we were really impressed (and relieved!) that the kitchen and waiting staff got my youngest sons order spot on every night - he dislikes sauces and likes everything plain and they got it right every time!

There was nothing to dislike about our stay 🙂

Loved the location. Food was fabulous as was the service by staff. Pool was lovely and warm. Loved the afternoon tea supplied.

Few little things which i am mentioning as we did find the room a little stuffy as couldn't open the window. Fan supplied did help although it was a warm weekend. Stormy night meant it rained heavily and was quite loud on the roof all night. Again a 1 off. Bed was in a wooden frame and banged our legs getting in and out. Mattress not the most comfortable we've had when away. BUT it was still a lovely enjoyable weekend and did not totally detract from how much we loved our stay. We would visit again.

The staff were excellent! Nathan in particular!! The food was very good and again the staff were very attentitive but never 'intruding'. The lamb shanks dinner we had was probably the best we've ever had. The variety of breakfasts, their quality and the willingness of staff to go that 'extra mile' made it a most enjoyable experience. The pool was used by us and thoroughly enjoyed. The toiletries provided were of a high standard and very much appreciated. In fact we have since contacted the company and purchased some.

I suspect that like many such businesses there has been a considerable impact from the so-called pandemic and its many inappropriate responses which are now gradually coming to light. So, the observation that some TLC could be necessary in some areas is, for us, considerably tempered by the knowledge of the conditions imposed upon a wide range of businesses that so clearly undermined their future viability.

Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Plenty of choice. Didn't use the pool. Didn't have dinner there as took advantage of nice weather and travelled about the area on our short stay. Very dog friendly hotel. Nice touch by hosts in giving us complimentary coffee and cake on our arrival. Hotel set within lovely countryside affording great views.

The hotel, as far as I could see, only had one dog poo bin which was overflowing, but don't know if they empty it or it's a local authority task. The bedroom was small and basic. Bed was a bit uncomfortable and perhaps a new mattress needed. Bathroom tiny.

The night staff - Nathan who welcomed us in was amazing & really made our stay. He was so kind & understanding when we’d arrived late after a long drive up from London & there were hardly any nearby dining options available & he put together a lovely complimentary care package for us with some of their fresh cakes & snacks so that we didn’t have to go to bed hungry. Also the location is stunning, breathtaking views from the hotel & really lovely scenic walks in the north lakes from the hotel. Breakfast was also delicious.

It could do with a bit of updating, the spa area & pool weren’t the best but it was fine.

It was good location for us. Nice views from the terrace and conservatory. It has heated swimming pool and in the mornings we had it all to ourselves. Good price and great staff.

Not a 4 star hotel for sure. Shower head in the bathroom is the same what you get in a camp site. Food. Apart from nachos everything else was just ok at best. I wouldn’t stop for food if I would be just passing by. Car park is used by schools and gym members during day time so you could be parking at the bottom of the road. In the evening there are plenty parking spaces in hotel parking. There are no proper changing rooms with separate showers in the pool area. Most of hot tube jets are not working. If you expect 4 star hotel, you will be disappointed, however if you get it for good price and don’t have big expectations it’s great.

The location for our trip was perfect and easy to find. We had the suite at the front on the ground floor which had plenty of space with 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and large living area. Breakfast was included and really delicious. Having a pool on site was also a great extra for the kids to use at the end of the day.

There were some aspects and areas that need a tidy up and certainly a deep clean. The pool area was very dirty outside the pool and multiple mouldy areas in the changing area.

This place is a real hidden gem. Such good value for money. Our room was super spacious and everything was very clean and fresh looking. The bathroom was huge with a separate free standing bath and good size walk in shower. It was toastey warm but not too hot. The food in the restaurant was great and the spa was a little bonus with a nice sauna, heated pool and outside hot tub! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The staff were all very lovely. The pre-arrival information was very informative and they had a lot of local walks from the hotel. Great place.

I wouldn't stay here if you wanted a luxury spa - there are time slots that restrict the availability of the spa area for hotel guests and it is a bit small. This didn't bother us. We would have been very satisfied with the hotel even without the spa so it was an added bonus for us - the sauna and hot tub were lovely after a day in the rain in the mountains.

We had a small apartment with a small kitchen which gave us quite a lot of space but we still had breakfast at the hotel and could use the facilities. It was very dog friendly also with a nice lawn area. There was an excellent gym and the swimming pool was good for a morning swim before breakfast.

All was good. People should be aware though that the car park gets extremely busy at certain times of the day due to children being brought for lessons.Also guests can only use the pool at limited times due to said lessons. This didnt detract from our stay at all as I could swim at a time I would have chosen anyway and we managed to park ok
