Armathwaite Hall has the wow factor. Beautiful grounds. A big characterful hotel with a modern spa. We had a large modern room with a glass balcony overlooking the grounds and lake next to the spa , it was beautifully appointed, big soft towels and pillows , a lovely touch of a congratulations card for our anniversary. Afternoon tea was delicious . The Grill room for our evening meal was also delicious, entertaining staff. All of the staff where welcoming and really friendly. The spa was fantastic very relaxing with an outdoor pool and. Would highly recommend Armathwaite Hall and would love to return.

It looked like Hogwarts inside. Was really cool to walk around the building a grounds. Spa facilities included and fun to use. Steak restaurant was tasty. Short walk to the lakes distillery for some lunch with whisky/gin flights. Great view from the main rooms and grounds over the lake
The person leading front of house at the steak restaurant was in casual jeans and dirty shoes while all the guests had got dressed up to go to the nice restaurant which felt a bit weird. Would have preferred if he was dressed appropriately to the venue. Made the meal feel a bit less romantic

Setting lovely, majority of staff really nice. Beautifully decorated. Spa facilities great. Food good. Dog friendly had fantastic rooms. Very comfortable my son loved the cat.
Was told off as my kids used the hot tub and was under 16, they showed me the sign. I am short sighted and could not read the sign without my glasses. The kids could only use the pool from 8.30-9.30. Also another visitor ticked us off because our dog was not on a lead outside stating it is in the rules on the website. They have 400acres and our dog is well behaved.

Within walking distance of Lake Bassenthwaite, the hotel is very scenic. The pool and sauna facilities are great, and the food is delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful. We traveled with family over Easter and the kids were given Easter treats and had fun participating in the Easter egg hunt. The garden rooms overlooking lake are super comfortable.
That kids were only allowed in the pool between 8.30-9.30am. And the bathroom had a smell - despite being cleaned.

Stunningly set accommodation, beautiful gardens and surroundings which adds so much charm- especially with all the bunnies and wildlife around. The hotel itself had a lot of character, the room had plenty space, a bath and a roof terrace. There wasn’t one member of staff that wasn’t warm and friendly with us which again, really helps to feel at home. The spa being included was really the cherry on top. Indoor and outdoor pool as well as sauna, jacuzzi and steam. It was hard to pack up and leave the next day!
I’d say my only comment would be the casual restaurant was a bit over priced for what you got. We ordered bruschetta which was priced at £8 and it was one small slice of bread with a small amount of tomato. That felt similar to the other dishes we ordered. Quite pricey for what you get. But that’s all I would say as a slight negative.

We were upgraded to a garden suite which was beautiful with a lovely outlook. The cost we paid was acceptable in this accommodation but it would have been expensive for the original club room in the house. The food in The Grill was very enjoyable and all the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. We did not use the spa as we were happy to use our patio garden to soak up the wonderful views & the sunshine
The electrics in the room were complicated.

We stayed at one of the state suites and it was great to have that additional space. Nicely decorated and clean. Loved the spa. With many different pools and and options to relax indoors and outdoors. Try the salt steam room. It’s great! Staff was very helpful and the food at The Grill restaurant was amazing. Great breakfast as well.
No air conditioning in the room. Only a fan, which in reality hot days might be an issue.

The grounds and views are amazing at Armathwaite Hall, the Spa is nice and have access to it all day is a nice touch. We upgraded the room to a feature double room which was lovely. Food was very nice and well presented.
Unfortunately we found the room very old & stuffy. Furniture was very dated & dusty. We upgraded our room to a feature double room which was much better

Armathwaite Hall is a lovely hotel that manages to maintain its history and grandeur while having every modern comfort. The staff are so friendly and helpful, dogs are made very welcome and the setting is just gorgeous. The spa is great. We were a family of a granny, two couples, one single, a toddler and a dog and we all had a great time and were helped at every turn by the staff. It's not cheap but it's lovely. Our second trip, can't wait to go back.
I wish the more informal Courtyard Brasserie had been open from 4.30 or 5 in the evening cos it would have been the perfect place for young families to have their evening meal.

The spa facilities were really good and all the staff were friendly. The rooms were comfortable and spacious as well as clean. The food in the restaurant and Brasserie were very good with plenty of choice.
Unfortunately due to what appeared to be staffing shortages in the restaurants there were delays and mistakes made, however all staff remained friendly and helpful as well as apologetic for the time we waited to be served our meals.
