Quite a nice and cosy and comfy room.

That you can not leave your room after breakfast. You have to do that before. Otherwise, you only had half an hour for your breakfast . We were only 1 night, and Sunday was only 1 hour to have breakfast, and we were there from the start, but later, it became quite busy. Not that it was a big problem, but maybe they have a good reason for it. Usually, in hotels, you have your breakfast and then get your things and leave. Parking and cafe were close by. I just wondered what the reason was.

The decor & furnishings of the room & the house itself were very pleasing. The location was excellent with everything on your doorstep. The Tithe Tap in the cellar of the hotel with its young friendly staff was an added bonus.

Room 7 had a large bathroom but no bath. A lovely roll top bath to relax in at the end of the day would have been wonderful. Plus the addition of a mini fridge to store breakfast items & fresh milk since the hotel doesn't provide this would have been really useful especially in the recent hot weather. We've been in other hotels where a large communal fridge in a cleaning cupboard for the use of hotel guests was provided. This facility would have made Tithe Barn first class.

We had a great approach to the property from the start. From the free parking. Ease of access. To the lovely crisp and bright appearance of the room. It's a warm room and that's in March! Even though it was bright and spring like outside, there was still a chill out. The shower room was super big to. Heaps of room for 2 people to move around in. The bed was super king and amazingly comfy. Downing pillows and duvet added to a great night's sleep. We were on the ground floor, so noise from above can vary dependent on who's above. I'm sure there's signs up there that say things like you have neighbour downstairs, so please be respectful. However, on our 3rd night Dumbo arrived and clearly had no grasp of shutting doors quietly at night. We had no issues whatsoever. But the only gripes are from people who have stayed previously. On the ground floor the sash windows understandably have restriction bolts to stop them being lifted anymore than 6 inches. Probably for safety and security. It appears someone or others have attempted to push higher, thus damaging these bolts. The entrance i to the property is better than the pictures. And the ease of getting in using keypad access takes away the worry of having to carry and keep room keys safe all day. As mentioned, free parking is provided, but that is at your own risk. The carpark is not protected. We had no problems however and it's an expensive car. So brilliant addition to the property facilities. Once out and about in town, there's plenty to do. Of an evening the pubs are busy and there's places to eat. Great to find pub culture is alive and well with all ages. Loved our stay. One of the best properties I've been to where the pictures are exactly what you get. Thank you for a great place to rise and sleep in fantastic comfort <3

Extremely spacious room and ensuite. Very nicely and tastefully decorated. This is my go to place to stay when in the north of the lake district. Some great places to eat within walking distance. The host provides brilliant instructions for parking, however you do have to walk along the road which can be a challenge if you have a few bags! If you have a passenger, do a bag drop before parking :-)

The room was a great size, nicely decorated, with a really nice spacious bathroom. We were on the ground floor and the proximity to the road was a concern, but there was no noise at all during our stay. (Thursday to Sunday). Would happily recommend the Tithe Barn, and will be staying again should we find ourselves in the area. Other local recommendations go to The Cumbrian Baker and The Spice Club, both delicious! Communication from the owners was also very good, with quick responses to any questions I had.

This is a really special little hotel….extremely well run and Beautifully kept. There was no scuffed paintwork or tired looking bedroom. The room was spacious, immaculately clean and inviting. The bed linen was crisp and white ..as were the bath towels which were massive and fluffy. the bathroom was large and the shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast next door was delicious ( I had eggs with avocado on toast and my husband full English) Both a plateful and served hot with a smile. Would I stay again. Absolutely no question about it. Massive yes.

Nothing. From the instructions received a few days before explaining how to access the building/ bedroom ( hotel has no reception so keypad entry system) it all runs like clockwork. The lack of reception staff doesn’t mean queries not resolved however. We had one re the heating…within seconds of contacting we had a call back and physical visit about 20 minutes later. Absolutely brilliant service.

A very well done renovation. Rooms were great. We had a nice seating area too. Location and parking absolutely fine. Breakfasts are not on site but at various cafes.

Some noise coming through the ceiling when other guests were noisy. The thermostat had to be set very low otherwise the room was too hot. Once we understood this, temperatures were fine. Breakfasts arrangements changed, but these were circumstances beyond Tithe Barn's control.

Stayed in room 6, it was very clean, nicely decorated and spacious with a large bathroom. Great communication with clear instructions for check in. After booking, we immediately received a message to inform us that the hotel is above a bar; we were booked in a ground floor room initially and asked if we could be moved to an upper floor, this request was accommodated and responded to very quickly. Great location - parking, supermarket and places to eat all within a 2 minute walk. We enjoyed a drink at the gin & cocktail bar below the hotel and dinner at Shill's. Buttermere was less than 30 minutes drive away. Breakfast at Veeva cafe was delicious, we enjoyed the very generous portion of cooked breakfast to fuel us up for a long day of hiking!

The hotel is situated in an excellent location in Cockermouth. We could walk everywhere. The hotel is beautiful. Beautifully renovated as I believe it was an old pub. The room was huge with a lovely big bathroom. Tea and coffee available in the room. Wonderful stay.

It’s not a complaint but a suggestion. For such a big room it would have been nice to have had a small wardrobe to hang your clothes. I know that coat hangers are provided in the little entrance way but the room being so large could take a wardrobe.
