Meals were excellent, Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. I had requested a room that could be accessed easily for my elderly father and his room was perfect

We went to the restaurant at 7pm on 22 May and were told that although there were a lot of empty tables, we could not be accommodated until 8.15 and therefore had to drive to another restaurant. As residents I was surprised to be turned away and if a booking was required, why were we not asked to make a booking? We had eaten in the restaurant the night before without a booking. This spoilt our evening and didn't feel consistent with the price point of the hotel

We choose this hotel for its location, as its near to where our son now lives and works and we were so impressed. Its location is amazing right on the river, the rooms are beautifully decorated and such a good size. The staff were great, from the fab night porter, who greeted us with a jolly smile when we arrived late on Friday evening, to the lovely lady who served us breakfast and the brilliant team who looked after us for our evening meal on Saturday. It was not the cheapest around, but you really do get what you pay for. We the certainly be back.

Room was very quiet, breakfast was good, breakfast staff Sue and Allison were excellent and a real plus to your hotel as was Dixon who is part of your dinner staff. The room cleaning staff were also excellent and had a great service attitude.

The front desk staff seem disengaged and did not come across as warm, welcoming and happy to be dong their job. We were surprised at the small window size in our room but otherwise the room was exactly what we were looking for.

We had such a great Thursday-Sunday stay. Staff are lovely. Bed is comfortable and rooms are clean.

Only one minor thing to highlight.. over a bank holiday weekend when the hotel is at full capacity, breakfast times should be stretched a little longer to prevent staff rushing about, food running out and to allow a smoother flow.

Excellent location. Dining and service was excellent. Room was tastefully furnished and decorated. Parking good and the quality of meals good apart from one starter which my wife did not enjoy and when she was asked by the waiter if everything was alright she told him that the starter was not enjoyable then the waiter immediately took it off the bill.

The hotel was very busy (it was a bank holiday weekend) and all tables in the bar and restaurant were used for food and we like to have a quiet drink in the bar before our dinner but had to sit in the bar with the adjoining table eating food (mussels).

Basic double room pictured as having a coffee table with the tub chair. no table was in our room and we requested one from staff as we required it as both room occupants work whilst in the room. we were told by reception that they are busy so there will be a wait, but no table arrived at all during our 3 night stay.

Great and unlimited breakfast options. Right in the main street within easy walk to restaurant and pub

The hotel has 2 EV charging poles from MER. One was out of service, the other one took quite some steps before we were able to charge as non-UK resident. Tip: you will not be able to download the app, instead you need to make an account on the website of MER and activate from there. Location of the charging poles is in a separate parking. Information available at the reception on charging the car was not up to date.

Everything to be honest. The room was very nice and quite spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. The location -backing onto the river and in central Cockermouth - was excellent. Free parking was a bonus as well. The hotel itself was nicely decorated and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice.

The cost of drinks in the bar was expensive and although we didn't have dinner in the hotel we checked the prices and that looked a little expensive as well.

very friendly and professional staff throughout the hotel, restaurant and breakfast excellent quality service and food, lovely gardens with seating available and an area to sit on the river edge and enjoy the sun, great location to explore Cockermouth and the surrounding areas. Rooms clean and comfortable with on site free car parking available.

Our ground floor bedroom window was directly looking out into a courtyard, which meant we were unable to open our blinds, this could be an issue in the main summer period if the area was busy with customers using the seated area of the courtyard.
