The staff were excellent as was the food, sizes of portions and quality of food absolutely amazing, we didn't particularly like the location off our room on arrival and asked if it would be possible to change or upgrade our room, this was dealt with in such a positive way, we were shown another room that day and asked if we were happy with different room, which we were and got moved to this room the next morning ,staff moved our suitcases, everything we had with us, just nothing a problem for this amazing team of staff who never stop, just so willing to please everyone and resolve any issues they are presented with, would definitely have no issues with staying here again, price of stay definitely value for money.

Although the rooms were clean and comfortable, feel a refurbishment is needed, staircase to rooms very narrow and steep, not having a lift possibly a problem if you have an issue regarding this.

The hotel looks a little tired in places. But not expecting luxurious decor for price. Beds were clean and comfortable.. The food there is home cooked great value. The staff will bend over backwards for you. I left my phone on bus. I managed to get it back with their help. Printed train tickets off for me. Let use phone to cancel cards. The location is central for whole of West Cumbria. The bus station is around the corner. Stagecoach buses to; Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Keswick, Penrith, Maryport. The train is also only station is only 5 minutes away.

The TV was on dressing table in front mirror. It left no room to put toliteries on there. It would be better on wall above mirror.

Well, what a hidden gem. We travelled over two hours to stay here due to having a leisurely weekend. Booked without looking or caring much about the accommodation itself, but we left with nothing but great things to say. We arrived with an issue if where to park so I went inside to ask for advice. I was swiftly welcomed and given a 'blue badge' for free parking right outside the front. Straight onto tea inside their pub and the menu shocked me as there was plenty to choose from and all kind of cuisine. We even asked if the curry was a microwave meal (we would've had it anyway), but no, everything was made fresh. The food was great, we had a few games of 50p pool (inflation wasn't to be found here) and headed up to our room in which we found a bright room with a TV mounted, free coffee and clean sheets. I've saved the best until last..... The staff. The staff have been trained to such a high level. It has a family vibe because everyone is just down to earth, and you can see that they genuinely care for each and every guest. We couldn't have been made to feel more comfortable and welcome. We would definitely stay again if we fund ourselves over this way, and I hope my recommendation/review gets read by the staff. Thank you.

loved the breakfast and the friendly staff that run the restaurant, the room we stayed in was a little outdated but the beds were really comfy and we had a good nights sleep to say we were not in our own bed

there were lots of creaky floorboards and random noises coming from the bathroom, given this is an old building its understandable, but for me as a light sleeper when my husband got up to use the bathroom during the night and early in the morning it did disturb me

On Arrival I was greeted with a friendly smile. A bonus for me was that due to the length of my stay they offered me an upgrade from a single to a double room. The room offered on-suite toilet and shower. All very clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent. Buffet style which suites me fine with cereal plus a choice of hot foods. The hotel also had a bar where you could buy alcoholic drinks and a very good food menu. Very close to the train station and shops which I used every day.

There was nothing at the Waverley hotel that I did not like.

The family room was light airy and spacious with connecting rooms, there was a tv in each room, a king sized bed in one a 2 singles in the other. The comfiest beds ever and very fresh linen. Staff were welcoming and friendly, bar area was nice and breakfast was plentiful and tasty

All the stairs as no lift, but not a problem if you can manage them

Location ideal, near both bus and train station and close to town centre . Staff all friendly and helpful. Highlight was the excellent breakfast. Self service but English breakfast items were freshly cooked. Also included choice of cereals, yogurt, toast, orange or apple juice, tea or coffee. Great start to the day

Room was a bit dated and although non smoking throughout I did smell cigarettes. I originally thought the shower was poor but it just took longer than normal to heat up to temperature. I found the stairs steep and felt I had to take extra care carrying my suitcases up and down.

We travelled up from Liverpool for a new year break away, from the minute we walked in to when we left the team at the hotel went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The room was spotless and very comfortable, located on the top floor and a skylight that gave good view. We had breakfast both mornings, the full English was especially appreciated after new year night out haha ! But also coffee and cereals available. The bar offered food at selected times given the time of the year, we had a couple of meals that were very nice. The bar was open to the public but never overcrowded and did provide a later service for staying guests. The owner/manager also allowed us to eat takeaway to watch the football in the bar which was very much appreciated and meant we could stay comfortable at the hotel. New Year’s Eve we went into the town which is a nice small area with everything easy to get to , roughly a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. We would definitely return here and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet night or two away, great value for money.

Very friendly and welcoming staff ,good food at reasonable prices, close to the local theatre (our reason for visit) and free parking nearby , a parking token is given to enable unloading and checking in and out, very comfortable bed

No lift so stairs to bedrooms but in a hotel of this age and design pretty difficult to remedy, a bit of updating required in places, but a large property so not easy to manage except in an area at a time

This hotel is in an old building with loads of character (be prepared to carry your luggage up lots of stairs!) The staff were super and definitely went the extra mile. There is a cosy pub that offers evening meals and we had a full English breakfast in the morning. Tea and coffee and a kettle were provided in the room; the private bathroom had a shower with shampoo and shower gel. The location is quite convenient and the stay was very good value for money.

The only problem we had was that we couldn't open the roof window at all, so there was no ventilation and the room got quite stuffy and hot overnight (even though the weather was not hot). An electric table fan was provided but I don't like to sleep with a fan going.
