The Lismore is a lovely building, decorated beautifully and clean and fresh. I had a great night’s sleep with the blackout blinds. Super sea views from my room and at breakfast. The staff were friendly and I received a warm welcome. I’d happily recommend the Lismore to anyone looking to stay a night or few. Good for cyclists, too!! Secure and dry storage!

I had a wonderful stay at this guest house – perfect for a solo traveller. The room was spotless and even had a Tassimo coffee machine, which was a lovely touch. It was cleaned daily and located just a five-minute walk from the train station, making it really convenient. Brian and Claire were excellent hosts – attentive but gave you your space, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was a highlight: the breakfast room had a stunning sea view, and the food was exceptional, especially the cooked breakfast and the fresh fruit selection. Great value for money – I’ll definitely stay again!

The location is 15 min away from the Cumbria Karting track (Rawrah) and is at the walking distance of the Whitehaven port, which is very scenic and has many places to eat and drink. Very polite and friendly hosts. Very clean space and comfortable beds. Warm room (it is extremely important for my family). Photos - the dining room with its gorgeous view and the view of the house outside (brown with blue woodwork).

No designated parking, but street parking is available, just not always close to the property. The room's lower part of the windows could be opaque (the same as in the bathroom) to allow more privacy (our room #5 had a city/street/park/football field view). No kettle, only Tassimo machine - needed a few minutes to figure out how to get clear hot water out of it. Bedside wireless chargers didn't work for our A'series Samsungs, but we didn't expect it - brought our own.

The room was very comfortable and pleasant, the shower was good and there was everything we needed, including secure bike storage. The host was very friendly and welcoming, meeting us and providing help before we'd even asked. Breakfast was delicious, with loads of choice and a beautifully presented vegan cooked breakfast for me (and non-vegan choices for my colleague). The view from the breakfast room over the sea was amazing and a great start to our day. It is also just round the corner from the train station and harbour and a 2min walk from a really good Indian restaurant, the Akash.

The coffee machine was a little tricky but the host came and explained what to do. Nice coffee!

We booked two rooms for sole occupancy/single for just one night. Lismore House really is exceptional. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our rooms - one of us was upgraded to a beautiful ground floor room with a double bed and a view of the sea and harbour. The other was a single room, but with all that one could need for an extremely comfortable night. The beds were comfortable, bottles of water were provided, as well as a coffee machine with biscuits. Everywhere was spotless and warm. Breakfast was outstanding - and the food served was hot - beating many hotels where food is often lukewarm. Highly recommended.

It would be good to have some dedicated parking space but I understand that the guest house's location makes this impossible. We managed to find a space on the street, 100/150 metres from Lismore House.

Having read the reviews before arriving, everything I read was confirmed. This guest house is superb. Met by the owner who was really friendly, showed me to my room and spent ten minutes talking about walking and the area in general. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, great shower, coffee machine, TV, Phone charging station, everything you could need. The breakfast was superb, a lovely breakfast room overlooking the harbour, the ingredients were top quality, lots of choice of cereal, fruit pots, pastries and a gorgeous full English. As other guests have stated, highly recommended with lovely hosts. Will certainly return if back in the area

This place really is a hidden gem. We were an hour late checking in due to a very hard day on Scafell, but they waited up for us which we were extremely grateful for and the staff were so lovely about it and explained how the key worked so we could nip out and get some food and get back in. It was clean and comfortable and the sea view from the room is amazing. The full English breakfast is excellent value for money and so tasty and served in a conservatory where you can look out over the bay and harbour whilst you eat.

I wish we could have parked closer as after a hard day we were tired and rushing to get there, but there are good car parks for a charge not too far away. The water in the shower was a bit temperamental in terms of temperature, but nothing too hard to work around.

Our room had a lovely sea view and was spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were delicious with a good selection of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit along with beautifully prepared and presented cooked breakfasts. We had a warm welcome and the staff were approachable and helpful.

We had issues with the coffee maker overflowing the mugs provided on 5 of the 6 occasions that we used it, and that was the only means of boiling water for hot drinks. We also found that the hot water to the shower and basin was erratic with sometimes not coming hot at all or running cold during showering.

We loved the king-sized room with the view of the sea. Decorated lovely, with TV, WiFi,coffee machine, fridge with bottled water, and a private bathroom. Lovely daughter and father team. The breakfast was delicious and very well presented fresh fruit pots, yoghurts, and a cooked breakfast done in a way that only a chef would know how. 5 min walk to the centre. Parking at front if available on street.

Would possibly cause a problem for people with mobility issues as on a steep road, but it's only a short walk.

Everything. First greeted by a gentleman (Brian?) at the front of house and was extremely accommodating and friendly and absolutely accepting that I made a slight mistake in my booking. Breakfast was amazing. So much option, and had a delicious vegan cooked breakfast and loads of great continental options. Fuelled us great for the day. The dining room in the conservatory is very beautiful and bright. The location is beautiful overlooking the sea. The room is so clean and tidy. Beautiful bay window. Gorgeous colour scheme with nice, big, comfortable bed. Quaint bathroom with nice sized shower. Was superb and pristine. Will definitely stay again if up in the area and recommend to anyone looking! Kind enough also to give a parking permit.

Nothing at all.
