Very convenient location for travelling around the lakes, and a big Tesco was only a 5 minute drive away in Workington. There was plenty of parking, the room and bathroom were clean, modern and comfortable, TV worked perfectly (a previous review I read stated the TV signal wasn't great: we didn't experience this at all). The staff were all welcoming, friendly and polite and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was great (we had breakfast both mornings and dinner one evening - very tasty!). Lovely seating area outside with a mountainous view. Will be recommending to friends and family!

The only very minor thing was that I asked for a smaller portion for the Sunday dinner but received a normal sized portion when it was brought to me - this wasn't a problem though and my partner managed to eat what I couldn't!

The location is amazing. Within easy reach of the Lakes and many places of interest including National Trust properties. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had and served by a delightful lady who could not do enough for us. Our room was beautifully decorated with everything we needed. We will certainly be back again.

Our eveining dinner was somewhat disappointing. My wife had the fish and chips with mushy peas and she said it was not very good. I had the cod which was very nicely cooked but there were too many potatoes and not enough asparagus. Some improvements to the dinner fare would be well worthwhile.

I stayed at the Melbreak Hotel for a weekend break as a solo traveller and had an absolutely lovely experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, both at reception and in the restaurant. The food was great, fresh and tasty. The service was warm and attentive. The entire hotel had a relaxed and inviting feel, making it a perfect spot to unwind. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend the Melbreak Hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, friendly place to recharge. Thank you to the wonderful team for such a great stay :)!

We've made this little gem of a hotel our go-to when we want, comfort, cleanliness, great food, welcoming and friendly staff, and brilliant access to all of the Lakes. The last time we stayed, one of the staff disappeared when she overheard my grandaughter singing happy birthday to my husband. She came back a couple of minutes later with a big slice of chocolate cake with a birthday candle in it and wished him a happy birthday too! We love our trips to the Melbreak!

Our room was perfect in size, cleanliness, comfort. It was great to go back to the hotel after an active day to enjoy the comfort and quietness of the hotel. The restaurant was great too! I am coeliac and the restaurant could cater for me with plenty of options gluten free (not only the usual salad). The garden and bar with lounge were a nice plus. Location is strategic - could travel to the most iconic Lakes locations in less than 1h time, with the closest lake being only 15 mins away. Lovely stay.

Room was spacious, bed big, full bath, large well placed television. Black out curtains. Staff jolly & very accommodating. No complaints at all & would stay again. Bonus of fantastic bar & restaurant, providing mouth watering menu. We had snacks & Sunday lunch both lovely. We had our 8 week old grandson 1 night in our room and request was granted without issue - thank you.

Personally I’d have liked air conditioning however there was a fan in the room, plus we always travel with our own.

Very clean. Impressed that the housekeeping staff were in to tidy the room everyday. Staff were lovely. Food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. My only gripe is the way guests inconsiderately parked at the side of the accommodation, as several parked over their lines into the other spaces making it impossible to fit my car in. The reason I liked parking at the side is the easy access for my mum who has issues walking. However, there is plenty parking at the back (it's just not convenient for anyone with a disability).

The location was ideal for our trip and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, particularly Demi who I had contact prior to our arrival and had responded very quickly and then on arrival was polite, friendly and even came out in the nasty weather to show us our room. Everywhere smells clean and well looked after.

There were a few cobwebs in our room but nothing that would cause me too much of an issue, I know this is a rural location and the time of year does mean there are a lot about.

I booked the Melbreak at the last minute after our anniversary trip to Venice fell through, and Lake District was our alternative. I'm delighted to say that our stay at Melbreak took all our blues away. The warmth and level of customer service of the staff were wonderful. Our room was spacious, quiet, spotless, and well equipped with stunning countryside views. We loved the Pure Lake branded products in the room. Dinner in the Conservatory Restaurant was fantastic! We also enjoyed a good breakfast. We will definitely be returning.

This an excellent hotel. We booked a twin bed room, on arrival we were given the keys,went in the room to find we had a double bed! I came with my brother and the thought of sharing a bed with him was petrifying!😂. So back to reception and that’s when Super Receptionist Linzi sprung into action. 😀. Within 20 minutes we had a twin room 😀. Now the hotel is spotless, our room has been refurbished to a high standard as is the whole hotel. Comfortable beds large tv, plenty of electric sockets with usb ports. Excellent powerful shower you wouldn’t want to get out of! Every day our room was stocked up with coffee biscuits etc,oh and an heated towel rail was a nice touch. Breakfast was lovely. Excellent choice, you can have full english,porridge,omelette,cereal,toast,fruit salad, croissants and more in a beautiful conservatory. Evening meals were excellent too. All the staff were lovely and friendly. If you are looking for a hotel in the Lake District that’s great value put this on your short list, I don’t think you will be disappointed. For reference the hotel is around 20 minutes away by car from Keswick. Oh and if you are worried about parking, there’s plenty of on site parking.
