Our 4 night stay last week was fantastic!! The room was wonderful with the comfy king size bed and new decor -the owners are doing a fabulous job renovating the hotel . The food was out of this world my partner doesn’t eat curry he hasn’t made himself and yet had the curry here twice during our stay and steak night on Friday was outstanding. The service was impeccable the staff very friendly and the owners were lovely people very attentive and cheerful. This was our second stay at the Wheyrigg and we will definitely be doing more. Kind regards Rach & Will (room 15) 23-28 may 2025)

The hosts, Tracey and Stuart, were exceptional. New to the business but not new to business they were attentive and engaging. Recently re-opened the property is under going a major refurbishment. Slightly dishevelled but no real issues unless you were part of a “4 in a bed” episode cast! Beer was good breakfast was exceptional and I fully recommend the vegetable soup As a starter with the Steak pie as a main! No room for pud…! I’ll be back next year. Oh and great try with the coffee machine!!
Nothing worth mentioning and nothing that won’t be sorted in the refurb.

We liked absolutely everything. We were made to feel so welcome right from the start. Even a group of locals engaged in conversation with us. The food was absolutely outstanding and we couldn't recommend this highly enough. Stuart & Tracey were fabulous hosts and definitely offer value for money. We felt right at home and wanted to re-book within the first couple of hours after arriving. We'll definitely be going back, and feel sure anyone wishing to book won't be disappointed.

This is such a friendly family and welcoming hotel. We have stayed here a couple of times now on our journey from Scotland south. The room is always very comfortable and the restaurant serves delicious dinner and breakfast. We will definitely stay again. Thanks so much for your warm welcome, your lovely hotel is such a warm and inviting place to stay..a breath of fresh air from all the modern chain hotels. Thanks so much. ☺️
Just that it’s a little out of our way, but well worth it!

The venue is undergoing refurbishment by the new owners. The rooms that are already completed are superb. Downstairs is in need of refurb but they have plans to do this. They have only recently taken over the venue and given their intentions am sure they will turn this into a first class venue. The welcome that we received was excellent and the hosts were very accommodating.

Great location. Lovely staff. Fantastic old building. Family room was really big… had plenty of space for 4 of us. Kids loved the old building. We choose this as a stop on our travel rather than a roadside travel lodge or premier inn.
Room was a little too hot for us. Had to turn the radiator off and open the window to cool down. This most likely wouldn’t be an issue for other families. Pillows were also uncomfortable, but again not unusual for a hotel.

The staff carried out their duties professionally and expertly. they went about their routines with smiles on their faces and were exceptionally friendly. our towels were changed daily and tea, coffee, milk biscuits refilled everyday. cleanliness was outstanding and room was extremely comfortable. our room actually had a heated, reclining massage chair which added a touch of luxury to the room. The food was delicious and substantial. Lots of menu choice at every meal. something for everyone.
The only thing I could recommend would be a more comprehensive inventory because we have found out about more amenities available since we have left.

We enjoyed a great stay at Wheyrigg Hall. The hotel is in a great location for touring Cumbria and the Lakes. It is in a nice rural area and being set back from the road we did not get disturbed at night by traffic noise. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's rest. Dinner was excellent as was the breakfast. Very friendly, helpful staff too.

The location is a bit off the beaten track but not far from the M6 in one direction or the coast in the other. Quite isolated so quiet. Lots of parking. Room was fine as was the bar, which was cheaper than average. The vegetarian breakfast was as good as I've had. Staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend.
No crisps at the bar.
