Absolutely lovely staff and a real treat to see a blend of ages within them. Great breakfast, lovely afternoon teas and excellent dinner's. Accommodation lovely, spacious bedrooms with really strong hot showers, clean and tidy and a joy to have the family of highland cows to the front, We will definitely come again.
My only request would be to have a sofa &/or comfy armchairs in the bar/conservatory area, as we would have asked family to join us for a coffee/drinks in a more relaxed environment rather than sitting at the bar tables

We really appreciated the characterful elegance of this hotel, with attractive period-style decor and furnishings throughout. The bedrooms were well-equipped and spacious, yet felt cosy. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinner were very good. Charming views of a tranquil field of cows from our bedroom window, including Highland Cows) Many thanks for everything!
Minor things - more hooks in the bathroom and somewhere to hang up towels would have been good, but over all, a lovely place to stay!

The staff are welcoming, helpful and kind. I was able to check in early at 1pm and when I overslept and missed breakfast by almost an hour the next morning, they still made me coffee and toast, which I really appreciated. My room was clean and comfortable and also warm, which isn’t always the case in big old buildings. There was free bottled water and a lovely view over the fields at the back. My room was carpeted, which I preferred, whereas some in our party had bare floorboards.
The bathroom was very dated (think 1970s/1980s) and the shower cubicle was very small, though clean. Compared to the public facilities on the ground floor (much more modern), some investment is needed in updating the room facilities, which would considerably enhance the guest experience.

The breakfast was very good. The evening meal was exceptional. The staff were very friendly. The cost wasn’t too high Bed was comfy although quite small for two. Good that we could take our dog with us - that was important. We would stay again.
We weren’t allowed to eat in the dining room with the dog, but that was ok. The room was comfy but the lighting wasn’t great. Bedside light very dull. The shower room was a tad cold and the windows rattled in the wind. Would have been nice to have a guests sitting room if we were staying longer.

We had a great stay. We booked here as a stop off point between travelling from Cornwall up to Aberdeen. The hotel was very nice and the staff members were all very welcoming. Everyone spoke and were friendly. We had a great night's sleep and the food was excellent. There is a large grassy area outside with seating. I can see why people would stay here to explore the local area.
There was a strange smell in the room when we first arrived. I did notice at the time the window wasn't open. It may have just been the 'character' of the building/room and it did not affect our stay and once you were in the room it was no longer noticeable.

Good size rooms, good parking, excellent breakfast. Breakfast staff especially good.
Room no 11. noisy refrigeration machines outside, evening an 6.50 am start. Kitchen below noisy in the evening also. Shower door incorrectly fitted meaning it was awkward when climbing in and out. Very hot water in the shower could possibly scald someone unused to different shower controls. Lastly, the hovering of the bar area and hallway wasn't pleasant whilst we were enjoying such a good breakfast.

This was our third stay at Greenhill to see our family. A wonderful 'traditional hotel' with large grounds in a country setting on the edge of Wigton. Friendly staff and service. Superb choice of local fare options for breakfast, all served at table for a relaxed experience. Lovely dining room, our bedroom had a great view over the Solway. We look forward to our next stay. Lots of car parking.
Nothign really, except our room was rather warm at night - but we opened a window.

Lovely quiet location and only 25 to 30 mins to various places, i.e., Keswick. It's kept its original features as an older build beautiful. View of the farm animals from our room. Food delightful reasonably priced evening meal. Dogs welcome their own cats pop in time to time. Very clean, comfy beds and tea coffee water in the room. Staff are welcoming.
For mobility issues- Unfortunately, I requested a walk-in shower it was a cubical intially thinking I could manage. I couldn't .So anyone with a mobility issue the cubical isn't great, too high of a step, no grab rail .We were only there one night. i thought it was their idea of a walk-in showe. It turns out they do have an actual walk-in shower. The building has no lift, so you have to be able to navigate a big flight of stairs . The stair case, however, is low height step with good width on them .I managed. I am reliant on stick . All said and done, I'd still go back and stay again.

Parking on site Easy check in Good food choice in restaurant for dinner and breakfast
We were in bedroom 3, bed creaked every time we moved and was very uncomfortable. We had to plug the kettle on the floor as the lead would not reach the plug socket. I’m sure an extension lead could be provided. A towel rail or hooks should be provided in the bathroom. No where to hang damp towels.

Great location, plenty of parking. Very relaxed and friendly staff. Lovely evening meal & breakfast and reasonably priced. Dogs welcome in the room and the lounge but not in the main restaurant. Good sized clean room with everything you want, including shampoo, conditioner & shower gel. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk & biscuits.
The intricate detail. The windows were so dirty that you struggled to see out of them, and the curtains could do with a good hovering, especially the fancy draped ones in the main rooms. The hotel is good for now but is in need of some good TLC & some forward thinking if they want it to take it into the future. It's a great place, and it's lovely to see all the old features. It's just lacking the odd attention to detail, which most people may not see. Beds were a little uncomfortable for me as you could feel the springs.
