Beautiful old building slap bang in the middle of the city yet quiet. Felt safe. Excellent value, most staff very friendly and helpful, smallish but nice, clean pool open decent hours. Had the pool to myself in the morning. Good night’s sleep. Secure free parking if you’re lucky enough to get a spot.

Room a bit dark but comfortable enough. People need to be aware there is very limited parking for the number of guests (I was there on a Sat night) so need to be lucky to get a space. Very good if you do though.

Perfect location, beautiful building and easy to find from the station. The staff were so friendly and helpful too! I’ve never known staff to make breakfast fun before!!

The walls of the bedrooms were a little thin - I could hear my neighbour having a 2 hour long conversation while I was trying to sleep!

The poor selection of beer in the bar. There are no cask ales, or draught ales of quality.

Excellent service, quality food, friendly staff, the bed was firm but comfortable, the room was nice and clean. The bathroom with the shower apart from the toilet does a good job as well. I absolutely admire the look of the building and decorative details inside when you come in through the entrance.

There were no plug sockets or USB ports by the bed, no refrigerator and no air con but the room was at reasonable temperature so I won't complain too much about it. Also the WiFi was a bit weak and the toilet doesn’t flush properly, I had to flush it like 2 times, but nothing really major.

The property is beautiful. My son recommended it to us as he has stayed a few times. We went together on this occasion for a family get together, but I was so disappointed when I was told that my room was across the car park. I booked out over night stay well in advance to be near my son.

I didn’t like being put in the building in the car park. The room was clean, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The wash basin was in the bedroom, so when using the loo, I couldn’t wash my hands unless I used the bath taps. Just not practical. The room was very small. I wouldn’t want to stay in there again.

Nice spacious hotel, liked the nice central location. Our room had a smart TV and a heated towel rail. My husband loved the smart TV as he was able to keep up with the tennis results in the evening. We had a family room and the kids room was in a room off ours which was also fantastic. We enjoyed using the pool and spa facility also.

We arrived in Carisle soaked from our bike ride and although I was promised early entry into our room it still wasn't ready to check into at 2pm.

The staff were so helpful and friendly in spite of being really busy with UOC graduations taking place. I left some items in the room by mistake and they have promised to send them on. Breakfast was excellent. The beds were very comfortable and I really appreciated the bath mat to prevent slipping in the shower.

I had a disturbed night due to the noise of metal cages being pushed up and down the lane below our window between the hotel and a Tesco Express. This went on from 3am till about 5. Thankfully this didn't happen on the second night.

The hotel location in the centre of Carlisle and near the main church is perfect for exploring the city. We were glad to be visiting over a weekend when the construction works to renew to paving in the city marketplace were quiet though. Rooms were a good size, with good ensuite bathrooms. Staff were lovely and helpful, and we appreciated the hotel's private car parking (not huge, and parking is on a first-come basis).

Some aspects of the hotel are a little tired (paintwork, carpets in some areas) but these are just cosmetic issues.

Breakfast was lovely, my wife is lactose and nut intolerant and this was not a problem, compared with some hotels we have stayed in, staff provided all dietary requirements and nothing was a problem. Room was small but adequate, a noise issue, see below, but facilities were good. Bathroom door scrapes over the floor and if not rectified will soon ruin the tiles. I meant to mention it in the hotel but forgot. Location spot on for looking round the city, didn’t realise it was that central so was a big plus factor.

The noise from the lane outside the rear of the hotel, room 103, from approx 0630 until around 0730 was annoying. Appreciate it is out of the hotels remit but it certainly ensured a very early, but unwanted, start to the day.

The breakfasts were nice , full English , poached eggs made fresh on request. Beds extremely comfy. Great location for sightseeing

Upgraded room , it was large enough but overlooked old roofs , lots pigeons and needed all lights on during day which was disappointing.
