The room was not luxurious, but it was clean and tidy. Excellent swimming pool sauna steam room and hot tub in the sports club. The restaurant service was good and all the staff were very friendly. There was no noise even though there was a wedding on Saturday night. Location near the station was really good for us using the train to Carlisle on Saturday. We took up the hotels offer to not have the room serviced during our day in exchange for drinks tokens in the bar / resteraunt . Carlisle was undergoing extensive street renovations and consequently would recommend you check how they have progressed, especially if you have any mobility problems.
Old building and creaky floorboards and rattly window panes were minor inconveniences. What was wrong though was a lack of water pressure in the hot water supply which could not be rectified during our stay. It was not possible to have a proper shower as the water just trickled out of the shower head. There was obviously something wrong with the plumbing, as on the last day the toilet system filled up with hot water!!! When we originally made the comment, we were offered an alternative room so can't complain. The swimming pool sauna hot tub et cetera were fantastic and we were not terribly inconvenienced by the dodgy shower. We were given a room discount on check out, Sunday roasts in the bar were free and told that the room will be out of commission until fixed.

Spa facilities were an added bonus, Food was an extremely high standard , we had a 3 course meal in the restaurant as well as the breakfast included...there was plenty of options, all delicious...so nice to have a later check out of 11am which meant we could fit in a morning swim before breakfast, the room we stayed in was very spacious, well equipped and very comfortable, the curtains were pretty much black out too ...beautiful location, peaceful, tucked away...and finally what really puts this up with my top stays was how friendly and attentive the staff were from the team in the fitness suite/spa to the restaurant evening and morning staff and the lovely lady on the front desk...they were very obviously busy but still managed to make you feel like you were special guests ...a shout out to Demi, Simina and Markus and the rest of the crown staff for helping to make our stay so enjoyable.
I honestly can't think of anything that was missing just wished we could have stayed longer

Parking onsite is helpful but is shared with the leisure club. Check in easy and the staff were excellent throughout. Food in the bar was nice and breakfast was plentiful choice of buffet or table order. (Table order better as some of the buffet offerings were a bit cold ) Room was nice, bathroom clean with powerful shower. Local village is close by and has a couple of pubs. About 15 mins from the racecourse so a good choice if that’s what you are looking at.( backroad route avoids Carlisle) we’d probably stay again.
Just a couple of minor points. Sausage at breakfast was a bit cheap. Get some proper Cumberland bangers. (Buffet on the mornings we were there, not sure if this is a frequent thing but better 1/2 not really impressed with the buffet quality scrambled eggs only and by the time the poached option arrived meal was almost eaten)Toilet paper was the cheapest we have encountered not reflective of a 4 star hotel.

Good and convenient location, very comfortable, tastefully furnished and well equipped room. The staff were really helpful. I enjoyed a delicious evening meal, which I found to be very generous portions and good value (I had two starters - portion size larger than I anticipated - and Sticky Toffee Pudding and liqueur coffee. Perfect. I made good use of some of the leisure facilities - pool, sauna and jacuzzi - on both the day I arrived and the next day before I left.
Nothing. I was missing some milk pots in my room for the complementary tea/coffee and the reception staff were quick to give me a supply when I let them know. I couldn’t lower the water temperature from very hot on the shower in my room (I only noticed it on the morning I was leaving, as the first day I showered at the fitness centre). I let housekeeping know and they said they would report it, so hopefully it can be checked before the next guest.

Huge thank you to the receptionist who checked us in and helped with EV charger. Also the leisure complex team, who were super friendly and welcoming. Having only one coffee machine at breakfast made for social interaction with other guests, after all we are on holiday and time runs at a more relaxed rate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and it gave us exactly what we needed. A break in our journey and the start to our holiday in your fabulous pool. Thank you!

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Bedroom exceeded expectations, was larger in size than most hotels, very clean and all facilities worked well. Use of spa including swimmming pool and sauna was fantastic with few people in pool making for easy end to end swimming, plus with friendly and helpful spa staff on hand. Restaurant was excellent with good evening meal food, real ale (local Corby brew) and great service from friendly staff.
The buffet breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent, however there was no buffet breakfast on the Monday morning of our stay and after ordering was slow to arrive and the cooked breakfast had dried up overcrisp bacon and dried up baked beans which was a bit disapointing.

The room was really lovely, bright and airy. It felt like a nice escape in the countryside. The bathroom, however, could do with some remodelling, as it was a little worn, and so didn’t feel very luxurious. There was no lift, so you have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Reception staff were helpful and kind. Room service was quick and the food was of good quality. The spa facilities were below what I expected, the changing rooms were a little grotty and although you get a towel and locker key, there is only shower gel and no other toiletries. The steam room felt dirty, I didn’t want to stay in there more than a minute. A few metres down the road is a cute little cafe where you can get breakfast, panini’s and cakes.

This is our third time here either as an overnight stop travelling from Scotland to England, or as a halfway to meet relatives for a stay. Reception staff are all polite and helpful cheerful etc. We had a superior double room which is a good size and comfortable room overlooking the garden. Room is clean and nicely presented. Bathroom area looked a little tired around the floor and grouting but was clean and functional. The shower has good pressure and the towels are large and soft. The room was warm and cosy. We used the bar for our evening meal which I reviewed separately, in short was okay but too many dogs for us, with some sitting on the chairs. Bar and waitress Staff were good. Breakfast was great as ever, much prefer a plated hot breakfast than a buffet. The continental/ cereal selection was just right; the toaster worked well. Husband had full Cumbrian and I had Eggs Benedict both were lovely and set us up for our journey home. We left early morning, but the checkout time of 11am is a bonus should you want a lie in and means no rush for breakfast. Overall we had a lovely stay and will probably be back.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and have recently been redecorated with a modern but relaxing feel. The staff were very helpful, they serve and excellent breakfast and it was nice to stretch-out tired muscles and limbs after a long days driving in the health suite.
The EV charging points in the car park are (a) very hard to use, (b) unreliable and (c) very expensive. Despite the eye watering 65p/kWh (almost twice what a TESLA supercharger costs) we decided to recharge because it was convenient to get an overnight charge. The App insisted on reserve £60 on my credit card and then the charger failed to start [saying it was connected and delivering 0 kW). After asking for help from the hotel staff and trying again another £60 was reserved and the charger still didn't work. I was told they are run by a private company and the hotel get no benefit from them. My advice to EV drivers is stay at this wonderful hotel but don't expect to charge your car!

Check in was quick and easy with the young lady at reception being professional, friendly and welcoming, The room was clean, warm and comfortable with a great bed and a clean, spacious ensuite. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of cereals, toast, fruit, fruit juice, tea and coffee and cooked breakfast. All breakfast staff were also excellent. We didn't use the restaurant but had meals in the Walton's bar. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly, there was a good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Staff in the bar were again excellent. Prices were very reasonable and service was absolutely exceptional. There is also a good leisure facility including gym, sauna, swimming pool etc..
There was nothing that really could have been improved on. All staff, our room, evening meals and facilities were all top notch. If I was to be really picky, I'd say the car park is slightly small, that said, we did get parked easily enough.
