Fabulous location super clean lovely hosts who were very knowledgeable about the area. We were made very welcome from the minute we arrived. Breakfast was great too with quality products and great presentation. I would definitely stay there again however in a different room.

We felt that although the room was spotless and the beds were super comfortable the room and bathroom were a little small. As I was with my sister it didn't spoil our stay at all but wouldn't stay in that room again - it was a twin and the only twin they have so we didn't have any choice but to stay in this room.

Lovely house with real attention to detail, scrupulously clean and comfortable and excellent breakfasts. But what makes this a stand-out place to stay are the Hosts, Liz & Chris. Most places are pleasant but you sort of know you are no more than a means to a living - Liz & Chris treat you like a real person. Their judgement is excellent on all those moment by moment responses - like where to be drawn in to a conversational opening and where to pull back to give privacy. They name each guest from the beginning and their care and interest is genuine. They unfussily go the extra mile. I will certainly be back when I need accommodation in Keswick.

Scratched around for something to say here in case anyone thinks I’m a blind groupy (I could become an unblind one given time) and all I could come up was …. it would be useful to have a box of tissues in the rooms.

First experience of staying at a guest house together, couldn't have found a better place to stay The room was lovely, modern ensuite, great breakfast every morning and we felt we were looked after as if we were at home There's no need for us to look for another place when we come back, we'll just book here again, easy decision! The location was perfect, not even a 5 minute walk to Derwentwater, the centre of town was a few mins away, mountain views from all sides, just wonderful 😀 We even got a bonus view of the town from the top of Latrigg one of the days

The rooms were immaculate. I've never had cleaner and more pristine decor in a bedroom and bathroom probably anywhere I've stayed. Very comfy bed with a cosy duvet. I didn't hear a sound all night (real ales probably assisted though!). Breakfasts were superb too - I recommend the avocado with chilli! Chris and Liz are lovely people who were very attentive and welcoming. The complimentary piece of cake to go with a coffee after a day out on the lake was a very welcome and nice touch. The location is great too - only a short walk into the heart of the town. I will definitely stay there again.

Liz and Chris are wonderful hosts and made me feel welcome from the minute I arrived. The B&B is clean and welcoming and my room was very comfortable. I was in room 1 - an ensuite single and while compact it has everything you need. Great Shower and a full range of amenities. Breakfast was excellent and Liz was kind enough to make sure there was early breakfast available for me on check out when I had to travel early. They have an excellent knowledge of the local area and were lovely to chat to. There is a drying room for any wet things when you come in from a walk and it is a quick stroll into town or down to the Lake.

Breakfast was your choice and booked the evening before which was brilliant. All cooked fresh and had home made biscuits in the room. I came on a solo trip to meet a friend and the single room was perfect for one and was nice and warm and bed very comfortable. The owners were really nice and welcoming and will book again and it so central and easy. I am looking forward to planning my next stay already

There was nothing I didn't like.

I stayed for the long weekend in a single room with Mountain View. The room was small but as expected. The facilities were kept spotless clean. The location is perfect, 5 minutes to the Lake, 10 minutes into the town centre, 3 minutes to the bus stops. As someone who relies on public transport, it could hardly have been more convenient. Liz and Chris looked after the guests really well. We were treated to home cooked breakfasts with a variety of options, vegetarian and vegan options available. I had vegetarian full English and scrambled eggs and salmon with soughdour bread. Chris also very graciously let me checked in earlier as I managed to confuse the time! Thank you again my lovely hosts.

The house location is perfect, close to the main street and bus stops, on a very calm street. The breakfasts made by Liz and Chris are really good, with lots of options. The house itself is very nice and the room amazing, with a great ensuite and everything you'd need. Liz and Chris are amazing hosts, you can ask them about anything you'd need during your stay. For a first time staying at a guest house, this was just an amazing experience.

I ordered sourdough with avocado, poached egg and bacon for breakfast. The sourdough was homemade and could not have been fresher. Attention to detail was excellent throughout our stay and our hosts could not have been more helpful. The free cake on a Saturday was delicious and the drying room was very helpful after wet days on the fells.

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my stay at Goodwin house, from the moment I checked in until I checked out I was made to feel at home. I had a room with a Mountain View of Blencathra. The bed was comfortable and the room was a decent size. The B&B owners were so friendly and welcoming and made a wonderful breakfast each morning. They clearly enjoyed making toast as there was unlimited toast if needed.
