We had a lovely stay at Barton Hall. The owner was just lovely and very welcoming. She had some staff to help with breakfast and room servicing and every one of them was well-mannered, polite, efficient and very friendly. Our room was beautiful with high quality furnishings, bedding and towels. Breakfast was excellent each day, and again, it was all high quality; cutlery, food, conserves etc. There is also a beautiful residents lounge and a fully kitted out kitchen. The house is set in its own grounds with a well kept garden and surrounded by fields. It was a short walk into Pooley Bridge from the house, ensuring we didn't need to worry about parking!

A home from home. The hidden gem that Barton Hall is, certainly exceeded alll our expectations. From the moment we arrived, Elsa and her team made us feel like family rather than guests.. The house and grounds are truly beautiful. Our room was wonderful and allowed us such a peaceful night's rest. The breakfast is fantastic, setting you up for a full day out in the Lakes. The atmosphere in the house promoted chat between all the guests staying there, these were from overseas and it was lovely to spend time amongst such charming people. I think we were all sad to say goodbye to each other but I'm certain I will return to Barton Hall whenever possible.

Elsa was the most wonderful host and her team were incredible, attentive and made our stay perfect. Elsa's personal touch, showing us to our room and spending a few moments to introduce us to her amazing home really ensured we could maximise our time there. The guests kitchen downstairs was a wiondeful addition and allowed us to make food for our hikes, store fresh food in the fridge and make a brew on our return after a hard day in the hills. We had the most incredible room with a 4-poster bed, a roll top bath and sumptuous decorations and furnishings. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the service from her team was perfect.

Nothing, we had a wonderful break in the Lakes. Barton House is a beautiful venue.

Beautiful old house,as mentioned in other reviews. Everyone very friendly and helpful and really made me feel welcome. Grounds are lovely as are the views from the dining room and lounge. Very peaceful in the evening. My room was spacious and spotless, comfy bed, table with tea making facilities by the window.

No complaints, but just a word of advice if you aren't driving. Not too long a walk from the village, but the road to and from it is always busy and there's very little in the way of even a grass verge to get out of the way on those occasions when traffic is approaching you from both directions. There's a local taxi firm, which I didn't use, but the Penrith bound bus actually dropped me off at the property's driveway last night ( last bus from the village, Saturday night, 21.15). So take a torch or high vis jacket if you go for the walking option at night. .My room had a business card for the taxi driver, next time that's what I'll be doing.

The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The location was idyllic as the gardens had outstanding views of the landscape. The gardens were naturally beautiful, the staff were kind and friendly and efficient and the owner was most cordial and welcoming. Barton Hall is a charming country House. The beds were very comfortable. We did not want for anything during our stay and would certainly recommend to all as a tranquil haven away from the more touristy areas of the lakes. It was just a 2.4km walk from Pooley Bridge where we found nice restaurants and a convenience store and easy access to the lake where we launched our small boat. The owner of the property allowed us to keep our boat on her drive for the duration which we considered most kind as we could not find a location on the lake who would allow this and as a consequence we were able to achieve exactly what we wanted from our short holiday.

The staff and owner were super friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome from the start and breakfast was fantastic. The hotel was extremely clean and the sitting room area was very cosy and friendly. We had a shared bathroom which were not looking forward to but it was totally fine and I would recommend to anybody. We will certainly return in the future.

It would have been nice if the bathroom wasn't shared but this is to be expected with the age of the building. I stayed for three nights and by the last breakfast I couldn't have another full English breakfast.

This is a wonderful and quirky B&B. It is a beautiful Manor House and the decor is fantastic. It is a short walk in to Pooley Bridge. The facilities are fantastic with a kitchen and outside seating area residents can use. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

My only issue was that due to the listed nature of the building not all the rooms had showers. There was a shared shower room that was always free when we needed it.

Lovely country house, stunning interior, comfortable beds, relaxing bath, tasty breakfast and lovely welcoming hosts. A stone's throw from Ullswater and the village of Pooley Bridge with nice pubs for food & drink and lovely walks around. On a rainy day visited the Rheged discovery centre where my little girl enjoyed time in the soft play. Visited Aira Force waterfalls (National Trust) - definitely worth going early as there is limited parking. Would highly recommend this place, we had a lovely stay.

* A beautiful country house. * Staff hospitality was outstanding - so friendly and welcoming. We felt at home right away! The owner Elsa was lovely and so interesting to talk to. Jacqui (the lady in charge) was great. What a fabulous team with the other ladies at Barton Hall. * Our room was wonderful -the roll top bath was plush! The beds were so comfortable and were dressed with high quality linen. * Delicious home cooked breakfast each morning. * The use of the family room with coal fire was warm and inviting. * The shared kitchen was well equipped and the use of fridge was great for storing food for your trip. We made sandwiches for our outings each day and had umpteen cups of tea with fresh milk. * Excellent location- The grounds were laden with snowdrops. Just a short drive from centre of Pooley Bridge and 25 mins from Keswick. 10 minutes from Penrith which has loads of supermarkets.
