Great location and fantastic views - we stayed there only to break our journey to Scotland but we enjoyed it so much that we almost wanted to stay there for the rest of the holiday. We have been to the lakes many times and always enjoyed our times there, but this time was exceptional. You can book a private boat trip from the hotel so you don’t really need to leave the hotel to enjoy the entire Windermere experience.
All excellent - the views, ground, rooms, fine/causal dining. Look forward to visiting it again when the front façade is restored.

The hotel is located on the lakefront… an absolutely stunning and breathtaking place
I didn’t like that the family rooms have no air conditioning, and the window opens only about 10 cm. There was a bad smell coming from the carpet upholstery. The reception staff were not very friendly. There is no elevator, and I had to carry the luggage up to the second floor myself. Although I paid extra to upgrade to a lake-view room, I was given a corner room with only a limited partial view.

The beautiful building and property; the views of the lake; quiet part of the lake; helpful staff; great cocktails; the room was bigger than I expected (which isn't a fair assessment since my husband booked it). The local town of Bowness boasts good local shopping, food, and hikes. The staff really looks out for you and your comfort.
The room fan wasn't big enough. There was a minor miscommunication about laundry with a newer reception employee, but the next shift's reception employee straightened it out (because she asked for an update, thankfully!).

From the very start the staff were attentive, smiling and obviously a happy team. The room we had was beautiful, really comfortable beds and an absolutely superb bathroom TV over the bath, twin sinks and a wonderful large walk in shower. The breakfast was delicious, we ate in the bistro one night and my husband had the liver which he said was perfect, Im a veggi and the risotto was light and tasty. The restaurant has lovely views of the lake and the food is delicious There is a lovely walk around the grounds and the location is perfect for Bowness and Windermere
We loved it all, if I was really pushed I would say an extra choice for the Veggie on the bistro menu, but that’s only a suggestion not a complaint after all the quorn sausage and black pudding at breakfast was real treat ☺️

I attended an afternoon tea birthday party and from the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional, friendly, down to earth and that was every single staff member. The grounds are beautiful and well worth exploring. I decided to stay the night rather than a long drive home in the evening and again, the room was perfectly presented with everything that I needed plus more. Cleanliness was superb and the view from the room was wonderful. Excellent shower.

A place you can relax and escape the outside world. Very relaxing lounge with lake view, very well equipped and spacious room, the service was exceptional. Staff members were very helpful and always with a smile. We travelled with a toddler and thought it might not be the right place but it was the absolute opposite. We are going to be visiting again.
We had one off the back rooms, that had noise early in the morning from the bins, but it was only for the first night. This doesn’t stop us to revisit.

Excellent Room with luxurious bathroom and very comfy bed. Food was excellent as per usual.
I just think the bar prices are a little over priced £13.95 for a glass of wine and soda is above city prices and I was charged £8 for a shot of chambord in my glaaa of proscecco!

Very friendly staff. Location at the lake is beautiful, just unfortunate it was a little too cold to enjoy the lakeside terrace.
All was fine. Decoration (paintings, furniture, etc) is a little too much for our style, but probably fitting with the type of hotel; a slight modernization with the help of an interior designer may uplift the experience, but don’t let that discourage you, it’s a nice hotel, wonderful location and very friendly staff.

We had been told that our room (the lodges) were out of order as there was a water leak. We were told this 30 mins before our arrival however was offered one of the rooms inside the hotel. The wonderful staff let us choose one of three rooms at a discounted rate and also gave us a bottle of champagne on arrival! We really enjoyed our stay! Beautiful locations and great customer service. The night porter was so lovely and at hand if we needed anything at all.

The location of this hotel is second to none. Away from the bustle of the popular towns on Windermere but close enough to ferry and cruise boat terminals at Bowness for sightseeing trips. There are extensive views over the lake which can be enjoyed from gravel paths around the mini peninsular on which the hotel stands. The hotel upholds traditional values of service with style. The hotel is well staffed, all the staff were very friendly, obviously well trained and clearly enjoy their jobs all of which which makes for a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms were impeccably clean and well appointed. Beds comfortable and a well stocked tea tray in the room. Robes, iron and ironing board all available in the wardrobe. (We were in a superior double).
We considered the drinks and wine were very expensive.
