Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by a fabulous chef named Nicky. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with a direct and side views of the reservoir. We made reservations in the Brasserie and had one of our best meals while on vacation. The staff and chefs were lovely; attentive, personable, and kind. After chatting with our server, we discovered it was her very first night with the hotel; you would have never known. Hearing I had a food allergy, Nicky even came out to discuss what was in my meal. The hotel is steeped in history that is beautifully represented throughout and the landscape is stunning and peaceful. It felt like we had stepped back in time.
We have no complaints.

Absolutely stunning location. Chef Chris went over and above with his professionalism and hosting making us an excellent dinner as we had arrived 10 minutes after the kitchen closed. A great finish to the evening as we had driven all day from Scottish Highlands!
We were not expected when we arrived as my late booking and message had not been received by the reception staff!Redeemed by asking for a view and got a beautiful lake and garden view room upgrade!

I’ve been travelling to the Lake District for years, and this is by the far the nicest hotel, best location, best service and comfiest rooms I have ever experienced. If you are at all undecided about where to stay on your next Lake District, and the Hawswater Hotel is available, book it!!

Can honestly say the most incredible trip away we've ever had! Without a doubt everything exceeded our expectations. Staff were very warm and welcoming, very friendly, the food was out of this world and the whole experience as a whole was truly unforgettable ❤️ would million percent recommend to everyone and we are already planning our next trip here and we only got home today. The room was perfect size, very clean and warm. The bed was so comfortable and everything was immaculate. Do not have a single bad word or criticism, everything was perfect! Would not have changed a single thing. The breakfast was so yummy could eat it every day! We spent valentines day here and our meal that night was amazing, definitely compliments to the chef. Absolutely adore the fact the staff took their time and actually cared and appreciated us and made us feel so so welcome. Can honestly say the customer service was incredible! And that's a massive thing for me and my husband. We had arrived at night and didn't see the view until the morning, it was the most breathtaking, amazing view we have ever seen in our lives. Hand on my heart I cried My eyes out with happiness when I came downstairs and saw that view its literally right next to the lake oppisite the mountains. Thank you so so much to the staff for making the whole experience as a whole truly amazing.
Can honestly say there was not a single thing we didn't like!

From the moment my wife and I arrived we loved the hotel which welcomed us with its art deco character and warm staff, from Charlie on reception, to Fiona making sure our room was comfy to Pip in the bar and restaurant all three are a credit to the hotel. We stayed in the Lakeland suite which had a Japanese plunge bath a separate lounge and bedroom and the star attraction was the balcony which provided the most breathtaking view of the lake and peaks. The hikes were amazing and the hotel is in a prime location for access to the fells and peaks, we will be back with our daughters and dogs to share this wonderful gem in a tranquil and beautiful setting in the lakes.

Really liked the way the hotel retained a 1930s look and feel to it. Staff were great - and therefore thanks to Ed, Shane, Stephanie, Charlie and the rest of the team for making our stay so enjoyable! The mountain views when waking up in the morning were idyllic.
The main gripe is that the comms is a real problem! Sporadic / poor internet connections at best and an old dated TV with very little that can be tuned in. A couple of times when we really needed to contact home, we couldn't.... and that was a problem! We had better "comms" when on the middle of Ullswater lake. If the hotel could find a solution to the comms problem, would definitely stay again. Without a solution, then unlikely!

The food at Haweswater Hotel was amazing, they have a very talented Chef. I cannot recommend the food highly enough, we had the best meal we have had for years. What a treat. If you are staying here for the scenery and walks, book a meal, you will be delighted. The staff were all so professional and helpful at all times. It was supposed to be a one night stay and as we were travelling back from Wales to Scotland after a family funeral we did not expect to have such a pleasant and enjoyable night. We will go back and have the 8 course tasting menu and stay longer, what a treat and after a very tiring journey we expected to have a "Faulty Towers Experience " how wrong were we!

Fantastic location! We received a really warm and friendly welcome on arrival. The service throughout, from both the bar and restaurant staff was excellent. Every team member went out of their way to make us feel at home. The care and attention they showed truly made the experience special. The food was outstanding, top quality and absolutely delicious. This was one of those rare meals where you genuinely don’t want it to end. It’s also worth noting that breakfast is included in the cost. It was perfect: fresh, tasty, and of excellent quality. Any comments you may read about the price of meals should be taken in context. This isn’t basic microwaved pub grub, this is high-end, carefully prepared food that reflects real skill and attention to detail. Highly recommended!

Firstly the location is simply stunning whatever the weather. We've visited twice in summer and in autumn. The property is very much in the 1930s style. If you're used to super modern city hotels this may come as a shock! The general ambience is cosy, the staff are all friendly and the feeling is one of more relaxed easy-going times. They've tried hard to stay firmly in the 1930s and I like it very much. Oh, and the food is top tier. Absolutely lovely.
The incredibly squeaky bed frame in the adjacent room that woke us up every time they moved. The wonky toilet seat and the poor water pressure. Some things are to be expected in such an old property.
