The location of the hotel with the sweeping grounds to the lake make it the best located hotel in Windermere. The room location overlooking the garden and lake was excellent. The indoor and outdoor areas for relaxation were excellent especially the lawn and main lounge.

We felt the car parking charge of £25 per day was excessive perhaps £15 would have been more reasonable for guests who were staying with a higher charge for day visitors. The range on the breakfast buffet was limited especially fruit and pastries. Depending on which staff were on duty the wait time for food from the menu was variable.

The location is great! It's near the Bowness pier. I also love the amenities - pool, spa, and gym. The hotel staffs are also very nice, the people at the spa, the receptionist during check-in and the other one during check-out are very accommodating and friendly. I will definitely go back when I visit Windermere again.

Need to improve the customer service for those serving during breakfast to be more polite. They seem to be too busy and doesn't smile especially it is morning. I also think the price that I paid for is too expensive for a room that doesn't have windows and doesn't even have a lake view.

Macdonald old england farm was a really nice hotel me and my girlfriend came for a night away for her birthday and we enjoyed every bit of it. The hotel itself was in a great location close to the lake and docks and the town had plenty to do all very close by. We where greated warmly at reception and shown where the parking was and our bags where taken and stored until the room was ready as we turned up early to spend a day on the lake. The room and hotel where really clean and tidy and staff where all polite and welcoming. The nights sleep was really comfortable and the room had everything you could need like a safe, hair dryer, TV, wardrobe and a nice bathroom with shower. Breakfast in the morning was nice buffet style breakfast with a really good selection of cereals fruits toasts and spreads and full English breakfast meats. We went swimming in the morning when the pool opened which was nice but got busy quickly. Swimming area also had a sauna and ice room. All in all we really enjoyed our stay thank you

Only thing I didn't really agree with was paying an extra 25 pound for parking as the hotel was already pretty expensive per night this could have been put in with the price.

The location is ideal, right in the heart of everything. The rooms are spotless, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was our first time staying here with young children, and the family rooms were spacious and well suited to our needs. We truly felt welcomed as a family, which made the experience even more comforting. The nearby car park is easily accessible, a big plus for such a central location

This was our second stay at the hotel, and once again, everything was perfect there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t like. We’ll definitely be returning in the future.

The view from the room was wonderful, balcony main viewing point over towards Bowness Pier Head, then 2 windows at the side with views over Windermere towards Ambleside. Location brilliant short level walk to Bowness Pier Head from there a choice of lake cruises or the 599 bus to Ambleside and Grasmere (£3 per journey!) Short uphill walk to shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Good choice of top quality produce for breakfast, restaurants over looks the garden and lake, not only a view of the lake but of the resident bunny and Canadian Geese enjoying their breakfast as well.

Our room was fantastic but imagine some of the rooms may not have such wonderful views - but then again not everyone wants a room with a view.

My wife and I went for out 45th wedding anniversary.we couldn’t have asked for more,as the weather was perfect. The only thing I have against the hotel is that it’s not very good for disabilities. When I booked I mentioned that I have a blue badge because my legs are very weak. When we got to the hotel, there wasn’t a lift that went straight up to my floor. We had to go up stairs and back down stairs just to get to our room. Also we was on the 3rd floor, so it was very difficult for myself to go up and down. Apart from that it was a wonderful stay.

The hotel staff made us feel like royalty. From the second we arrived it was red carpet treatment. There was a mishap with the toilet in our room, but Dave (who I assume was the manager) came personally to sort it out...and then gave us another room without any request to solve our issue. Simply exceptional service. The kitchen staff went out of their way for us with helping our daughter celebrate her birthday, and then again at breakfast they were so good I actually felt like I was aristocracy. Never been called "sir" so many times in my life! I do not know why anyone would want to stay anywhere else. Ten out of ten from me!

My only issue is the allocated times for the kids in the swimming pool. Made it impossible for the little one to enjoy the swimming she had looked forward to. But, this is hardly something that requires me leaving a negative comment, It's merely a suggestion that the hours are adjusted to accomodate children enjoying the pool as well.

There is a good selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, cheese and ham, cooked breakfast is served to you and is wonderful very fresh and hot. Staff are very friendly, the location is outstanding the views are breathtaking. The location for shops, bars and restaurants is perfect and on you door step. Rooms very comfortable.

Small print which I didn’t see was car parking is £25 I didn’t realise on booking and may be wouldn’t have stayed if I’d have realised parking wasn’t included. Also for the cost of the hotel I would expect better coffee in the rooms Nescafé sachets I would expect in. Travel lodge not a Macdonald hotel :(

The upgraded accommodation to super deluxe (lakeside) was amazing. Wonderful to wake to the lapping of the water and birdsong. A great night's sleep in peace. The spa facilities were very pleasant indeed. The food and drink in the restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast were delicious. I especially enjoyed the stone bass on the dinner menu and the black pudding at breakfast. Also, the shortbread that accompanied my afternoon cup of tea , in the bar area, was a real treat.

The amount of parking was lamentable. As a less able bodied person travelling alone I would have found it impossible to transfer my luggage to the hotel from the hotel carpark. Had it not been for the kindness of the staff who permitted me to access the disabled slot, I would have been stuck.
