Very good . The people running the pub had only taken over 2 days before so unfortunately there was no food available other than breakfast. This was not made clear on booking.

Good location friendly host s

Rooms were comfortable, spacious and well-stocked with tea/coffee, towels, shampoo etc. The Lobby also has a nice bar. The husband-wife team in attendance were very friendly and helpful with tips for places to visit and directions. The parking was close by with plenty of space.

Hotel staff don't have a direct phone line. We tried calling to say we would be arriving late around 9pm. However, the number is routed to a corporate call center who were not helpful with contacting the hotel. Also, no tea/coffee or food is available in the hotel unless you inform them at least a day in advance. We had to drive into Windermere for all our meals, where we found a variety of high-quality options.

Good location for a night stop before returning home to London . Room was clean and comfortable with the bonus of being dog friendly . Dinner menu is ok not to much choice but the food we had was well cooked and enjoyable but last orders is 8pm. Breakfast was nicely cooked but I am fussy so would prefer to choose options rather than a plate full of things I am not keen on so as not to waste .

Nothing really the road can be noisy but this isn’t the hotels fault . we did have someone attempting to sing until gone midnight from the bar we think but our room was just at the top of the stairs , so this maybe OK if further down or your not a light sleeper like me

The tea making facilities exceeded expectation because there was for once plenty of milk sachets and a broader selection of beverages that normally found. The shower was powerful, I am not sure that is a good or bad thing. Something which I would welcome more at the end of a long hike.

Sadly, passing trade at this location is not what it used to be so did not have the opportunity in tasting their breakfasts. The step just inside the shower room was jarring at times.

Great location. Buses stop regularly a few steps away and short ride to train station and various lakes. Haven't paid more than £2 but stayed around Windermere. Everything very clean, comfy and fresh. Lovely owners who haven't been there long. Family run and couldn't do enough for all of us and our dogs. Hidden gem at an excellent price. We're already talking about coming back.

Could've done with a breakfast but that's no big deal as plenty of places on our way.

Hotel was lovely we have stayed before many years ago definitely had an upgrade since so we were last there so pleasantly surprised . Staff was excellent great location for what we needed for the night we stayed . Lovely breakfast !!

There were dogs in room 12 which barked constantly not sure if they were left alone and unfortunately every time someone went into there room they barked but could not hear anyone telling them to stop fell asleep eventual around 1.30 in the morning. they barked when we went for breakfast and still barked when we left the hotel

Just had a lovely night stay for our daughters 11th birthday, The hosts were lovely, our son made a new friend with their son also. On a separate note we call up to see if the hotel could put a ballon into one of the rooms for our daughter although this couldn't be done Sarah was able to decorate one of the rooms leaving party hats and lots of props for us to take photos to make the night more memorable. Lovely stay.

Breakfast was good, had vegan sausages. Could pick from a list for cooked stuff, then help yourself to juice, cereal and toast. Room was good, nice powerfull shower. Location between Ambleside and Windemere and about a mile or so walk to each. Big free carpark right next door for hotel/pub guests and visitors only

we arrived at 1.30 and were informed didnt open till 2 and to come back, so couldnt leave bags or nip to the loo. We went to Ambleside for the afternoon. When we did check in around 5ish we were told last orders for food were 6 and bar shut at 9, a little early for us, but I think a lot of places in the lakes seem to be like this at the moment
