My husband and I came to Holly Lodge for a break away before our family grows. We came for a relaxing break away in nature and it did not disappoint. Before we even arrived we had loads of helpful information about our stay. We were able to come and go as we pleased with staff on site if anything was needed. The room was clean and styled nicely. We had everything we needed including a small fridge which was stored away for optional use. There was a small section with hot drinks and some biscuits which were great for the evening downtime. Breakfast was served between 08:30 - 09:30 where we were greeted with smiles and great service with a pre-ordered breakfast. The location was perfect, we were on the doorstep of some boutiques and some cafes. Only a short 20-minute walk away was the nearby village called Bowness on Windermere, which had more options for restaurants, shops, and a nearby pier to get a boat taxi throughout the lake. Top notch 2 days stay and we were well looked after. Would recommend.

There was nothing that we didn't like which was in the control of the team. On our first nights stay an alarm went off in the middle of the night. By the time we got up it had stopped and that was surely entirely out of their control.

The property is in a fantastic location, shops, bars & restaurants on the door step & 20 minute walk to Bowness where there is plenty more. The staff are really friendly, beds are really comfy, breakfast was really lovely aswell! I’d of been happy to pay for the food and service we had received in the morning. Self check in is pretty straight forward. Can’t really complain at all. Lovely place to stay, would come back!

If I had to be picky, parking isn’t the best, although there was parking available it’s either try reverse down a narrow part of the building or do a 30 point turn at the back of the property if your not lucky enough to get a spot on the road, also if your on the top floor it can get very hot at night, was really hot whilst trying to get to sleep, but again if I had to be picky. The highs definitely outweigh the lows.

The breakfast was lovely and our room 6 was large enough for us with 3 single beds , the guest house itself was really clean and free parking was a bonus . Our room had a lovely view from the side window . There was a Sainsburys across the road aswell which was handy if you d forgot something , there was a few nice pubs and cafes around the corner aswell . Stagecoach prices were brilliant the stop was just at the end of the road we got a red route for £33 for upto a group of 5 which you can use all day so you can visit Keswick , Grassmere, and other places unfortunately the weather was against us that day but well worth the money and a bonus if the weathers good

The only thing I thought could be an improvement was more choice at breakfast as in yogurts and fruit .

Key safe to enter property for different rooms, great idea makes it easier in my eyes. Lovely place. Very cozy. In distance to everything. Nice walk down to lake and shops. Many restaurants near by. Went to spa and pool this was lovely aswell easy to get to. All relaxing. I found everything great. Shower was good pressure and heat. Only saw host in morning for breakfast she was nice, saw to us straight away when we went down for breakfast. Breakfast was good, help yourself to cereal and toast. Different spreads available. Could have had abit more like extra sausages and bacon but 10/10. Very clean and tidy. Loved all my experience.

Boyfriend said bed was too hard for his likings. Said he struggled to get to sleep. I didn’t mind it had a good night sleep. Each to their own though. We all have our preferences.

The room was a good size and the beds were low but comfortable. The shower was hot and powerful. The property was a good location and near to local shops and restaurants. Communication was good prior and during our two night stay. The breakfast was great and there was a lots of choices. Lovely stay, thank you.

Sadly the Spa off site was not available during our stay which was beyond their control. Disappointed that a packed breakfast was not available for an early morning departure on our first morning when we were entering the Great North Swim but at least we knew this before so could get our own lunch

I stayed at Holly Lodge because of the great location, close to lots of lovely places to go for scenic walks and hikes. The guest house was really comfortable and welcoming, and it was pretty quiet too which I appreciated. It’s right in the heart of Windermere and just a short walk to Bowness, which was super convenient. Everything was very clean, the breakfast was great, and the staff were so kind and personable which made me feel welcome. You can tell the family really care about the place. I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it.

Staff very friendly and welcoming, breakfast was fantastic, room gorgeous, close to shops pubs and restaurants as about a minute walk and about 15-20 walk to lake Windmere or can get bus down but was a lovely walk down, we did get a taxi back as stayed in Windmere all day and explored pubs all day. Taxi was a fiver to get back.

Location, couldn’t afford to stay in lake Windmere however the location of this hotel was perfect and pubs and shops about a min away and then close walk to lake Windmere. Would stay again if price stays around same price as we stayed beginning of March so for 2 nights price was £208 including breakfast. We wouldn’t be able to afford any higher so I will keep checking price and when it’s around this price I will keep booking this hotel.

Location, comfort, breakfast, cosy and style. Lovely place to stay. Would recommend for lots of reasons!! Great breakfast (you have to preorder the night before)! Lovely girl served us breakfast. Room was nice and cosy and clean. Good shower and bathroom. Thick towels. Really comfy bed with quality bedding. Location was fab in the heart of Windermere. Just a few minutes walk from the main streets. Parking (it’s tight so you do have to be considerate of each other). Would definitely stay again.

Not really something to dislike but it’s a shame we didn’t see any member of staff at all on check in day and encountered our first and only member of staff at breakfast the next morning. Of whom I should add was very friendly. So it all seemed a little impersonal. On the morning of checkout there were workmen in from early just outside our room. On trying to get ready the electrics went off for a short time which then made us a little unsure as to wether it was going to keep happening (I was drying my hair at the time).

My wife and I were so happy with our room, we had a terrible journey and were able to get our key very quickly. The property is really nicely decorated and our room was amazing. We had kindly been upgraded and had what I assume is a family room so had loads of space. The room was beautifully warm and inviting. The bed was amazing and I’m a fussy sleeper. The quality of bed linen and towels was first glass and personally these are the touches that make for a great stay. The room was really quiet, we were at the back of the property however the road at the front was very quiet. We were 2 minutes from the town and 30 seconds from a Sainsbury’s. You preorder breakfast which is great as we like to get up and go asap. The quality of breakfast was great - we stayed for 3 nights and had 3 great breakfasts. The whole family pitch in which is great and they were all polite and helpful.

What didn’t we like ? That’s easy ! Having to come home …..

We absolutely loved our stay. From before we arrived the team were providing updates and information about our stay, recommendations and helpful information. Arrival and check in is super easy as is ordering breakfast. The room was perfect and as we had a birthday Bonnie and the team had provided some decorations and birthday touches which made it so so special. The breakfast was lovely and staff super friendly. We have been coming to the lakes for a few years and it was one of the best and most smooth stays we’ve had. Also amazing for everything you need in Windermere! Extremely central and easy to walk to anything
