My stay was fantastic. Beautiful area. Easy to find, large car park. Fantastic friendly staff - easy to communicate with both in person and via email. Nothing too much trouble. My room exceeded my expectations, it was gorgeous - fireplace, stone wall gorgeous beams, full of character. Lovely tea and coffee set up with yummy biscuits! Bathroom was good too. Yummy& plentiful brekkie. Would recommend highly
My only thing was that the room was slightly warm overnight. I opened the window a jar to let some air in but no way to turn heating down so to speak / but think this is more just personal preference as I like to be cooln!

We arrived here fairly late after a very long stage on the C2C walk. We were received with such smiles and kindness. The staff made sure we were OK, that we had food ordered and even offered to bring it to the rooms if we were too tired to come back down. At the meal they chatted with us, included us in the conversation with the others in the bar. We didn't think we were getting breakfast, so it was a nice surprise when we found out it was included, and they gave us the left over pastries to take away with us for our day ahead.
We didn't realise how far out of Shap the accommodation was, it's right on the edge, and after 17 miles of walking in very hot sun, walking that extra mile to the far end of Shap felt like it took forever

one of the best overnight stops we had, nice pub with log fire excellent friendly staff and one of the funniest gents loos. good size room, great coffee bags and biscuits, large bed. Vegetarian food was excellent. great view from room.
only minor points, so being picky, the ensuite could have been a little bigger to fit the good size shower as access toilet was a very tight. food was great but not the cheapest. the pub is a bit too far at the south end of the village with busy road at the front and Trainline at the back.

The location was great with access to the Cumbrian fells quite literally out the back. Our room was a very good size with a huge double bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom had both a bath and seperate shower with good water pressure. A good choice of breakfasts and the evening meals were all reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Ideal location for the Coast to Coast walk too.
Our room was above the cooling units for the cellar and these were cutting in and out all night so a little noisy when the windows were open.

Lovely location, quiet and relaxing, an excellent start to our holiday. The lady behind the bar in the evening (I think she's from Wales) was so friendly and inclusive of us 'tourists'. It was a great atmosphere and a fab evening. Food was good and not too expensive. The room was big and very comfortable, plenty of drinks and the jug of water was appreciated. Very good value, will definitely stay again.
Staff in the morning were really pleasant but not very attentive, they were chatting amongst themselves and some guests were waiting too long for service.

Our room was upgraded. It looked like a converted barn. The bed was big and comfortable. Beautiful electric fire in the room and a big arm chair next to it. The food in the restaurant was very good. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast was good.
I was cold in the hotel. I was glad I brought my own blanket. I used it in the bar and in my room. There was no hot water in the tap. I couldn’t use the bath or wash my face in the morning. At 11.00 at check out time the hot water came in?

Great facilities and acommodating staff. Excellent breakfast and very close to the highway. Good size free private parking lot. We rent the family room, but they were renovating the bathroom. They offer to give us two rooms right next to each other for no extra charge. They definitely value their customers. We also had dinner at the restaurant and the sunday roast was very good and the prices were reasonable.

The Hotel was very smart and nicely fitted out with quality fixtures and fittings. The parking was easy. The room was large, and warm, and the shower was very good. I liked the special touches such as a glass carafe for water and glass storage jars for tea/coffee etc. There was a little road noise from our room, but it died away during the evening. Breakfast was generous, with good choice for vegetarians. The Staff were friendly and helpful.
The downstairs eating areas were very cold, and although the Staff Member kindly moved us to a slightly warmer area, it was still a bit chilly - I am not sure if the heating was on. Breakfast was also in the bar area, which was a bit of a cold corridor.

Lovely comfortable bed ,room nice and warm , good quality bedding ,staff very welcoming and helpful. Lovely well stocked tea tray in room. We would stay again .
The shower surrounds a little grubby, as were the tiles .otherwise, I couldn't fault the room or the staff . We chose to have an evening meal ,service which was a little slow from ordering to receiving our meal was an hour and one table waited two.hours. Would we stay again? Yes, the evening meal could have been a hiccup we only saw two staff members, and they were pretty stretched ,so maybe a staffing issue wouldn't put us off stopping again.

It’s a great place to stay. It’s a fab base if you are doing running events. Packed breakfast good accommodated very early start. Staff friendly and welcoming restaurant excellent
Room was a bit too hot Packed breakfast this time was porridge. Couldn’t take it with us like we did last time as no hot water facilities. Croissants would have been a better choice
