I recently stayed at this hotel for four days and had a fantastic experience. I was informed that the hotel had just been taken over by a new company, so they warned me of expected teething issues, but everything ran smoothly. The staff were incredibly accommodating, and a special mention goes to the regional manager (female , blonde hair), who personally checked in with me every morning to ensure I had no issues and accomedated me throughout. The rooms are well-equipped with everything you need. It is comfortable, clean, and practical. The location is excellent, right opposite the train station, close to shops and restaurants, and not far from some great hiking trails. A big thank you to all the staff for making my stay so enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel, and for those driving, I suggest parking in the train station car park, which is free of charge. Would definitely stay here again!

Slightly disconcerting that the exterior of the hotel still proclaims to be the County Hotel. Only a small notice in the entrance indicates that its the Lakeland Kendal Hotel. Welcoming reception. The 'L' shaped room was well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities. The bedroom central heating radiator was controllable and effective. The bed was very comfortable. The interior hotel ambience is good and the room quiet in terms of guests movements etc. Breakfast was a lovely experience with freshly cooked fare of good quality, served by a lovely breakfast room 'steward', who was truly charming and efficient. I will return to enjoy its charms over a longer period later in the year.

The heated towel rail did not work and this left the bathroom rather chilly. The central heating boiler starts up at 6am and is quite noisy, fortunately I'm an early riser.

Room clearly updated not that long ago. Bathroom also renovated.

Although room & bathroom have been updated, clearly some attention is required re the shower screen, it is not effective in stopping the floor and foot of the door from becoming damp. As per the state of the bathroom door. Premise has recently changed hands so the following weren't available, contrary to the information in the room: Wi Fi Restaurant for evening meal No telephone in the room so couldn't Dial "0" as per the information leaflet. Not that we needed to. Hopefully these will soon be resolved, understandable in the circumstances and didn't affect our stay.

I was stuck unexpectedly and perhaps normally would not have chosen this hotel. I went along with some trepidation and found exceptionally kind staff, a large comfortable clean bedroom with settee and new looking en-suite. Older style with not every modern facility but it was a great place to stay all the same. I would happily return.

For the cost I could not expect anything better and therefore nothing to dislike, it exceeded all expectations It would though be helpful to get the new name ‘The County’ on Booking.com and elsewhere

There was no toilet roll in the bathroom, we left the notice on the door all day while we were out for the room to be refreshed however it wasn't. Also you advertised parking but there was no car park it was access to the local cricket clubs car park which charged daily was full on the Saturday night when we returned from activity's and was a good distance walk from the hotel when carrying baggage. WiFi didn't work could connect even when give the password by reception staff

The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of Kendal town centre. The room was clean and the bathroom looked very modern. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Due to the building being old it could be quite noisy- when people were running taps and using the toilet it could be heard during the night. Didn’t disturb us too much and we soon settled again though. Quite difficult to find without a sat nav map as the name on the outside on the hotel is different to the booking name.

Friendly, helpful, lovely staff without exception. Clean sheets. Tasty breakfast with a couple of niggles as listed below. Fabulous staying in a hotel where you get a hug from the amazing area manager when you leave!

Not very pleasant smell (of damp, possibly) in both our bathroom and our friends’ bathroom. Expelair not working in our room. Breakfast coffee very weak and almost tasteless. Poached eggs for our friends were ordered runny but arrived solid. Overall very minor and fixable problems.

The location is great and near the train station. The rooms are clean and of reasonable size. The bathroom was clean. The breakfast is pretty good. English breakfast and it was freshly cooked and served.

The parking is limited. The rooms are bit noisy as I can hear noises from the adjacent room. Noice of passing by cars as the window was opening on the road side. Better to have more variety in the breakfast.

Perfect location and excellent value for money being so close to the Lake District .our 2nd time here and won't be the last. Staff are very welcoming. Beds clean and comfortable. Large clean ensuite / shower. Had a bedroom on front this time couldn't hear traffic .

Difficult to find car parking if you arrive late. Best to park up early then go out in the evening as Kendal is in walking distance.

Hotel was great location and very comfortable....staff were absolutely brilliant and very helpful and attentive to our needs. The Manager Amal was such a lovely, kind Man and helpful in every way.... thanks for your kindness Amal.

Breakfast wasn't brilliant could do with upgrading to more quality food products possiblity a menu?....the waiting staff were absolutely lovely and great at there job thanks
