Overall, excellent, and will definitely be back, we both found our accommodations to be warm, comfortable, and clean, proving that the owners and staff have exacting standards... Great gate-way location for exploration of Cumbria and the Lake District... The food in the bar is excellent, with plenty to choose from, with daily specials on, a good wine list and desert specials... It's also obvious that the providence of the produce is both local and of a very high standard, and was much enjoyed...

Very little, I would be nit-picking, and the items that come to mind will possibly be rectified by the next visitors' stay... One of the door knobs was looseon the bedroom door. The pillows a little too dense for us both (but that's subjective) and as our stay was 4 nights, a few more options for breakfast would be good - (though we stayed off season, this may well be different 'in-season') ...

Absolutely perfect for a weekend in the south of the Lakes. The quality of the breakfast was possibly the best we've had in any hotel. Lovely ingredients and beautifully cooked. Piping hot which is so unusual and lots of choice. The coffee is really good too. Our room was delightful, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, with quality complimentary toiletries. The staff are super friendly, the wine & beers inn the pub are great. We ate in the restaurant one evening which was also lovely quality - our whole stay was faultless and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hare & Hounds. We will definitely return. Thank you!

Excellent stay at the fabulous Hare and Hounds Levens. We stayed in the 'Barn Annexe' a self contained apartment, and doggy could stay too ! The Annexe is very comfortable and cosy, extremely well decorated and furnished and well equipped kitchen. Breakfast was in the Pub both mornings we were there, loads of choice of cereals, yogurts and fruit as well as a cooked menu to choose from. We also ate in the Pub one of the evenings, again an excellent menu. All in all it was Perfect. Location, accommodation and the Staff are so helpful and friendly.

Our double room was the perfect size for our 2 nights stay. It had a fridge, tea and coffee facilities (including fresh milk), a comfortable good sized bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a nice powerful shower in a decent sized bathroom. There was also extra storage on the wide window cill and bedside tables. Food downstairs was amazing, and reasonably priced, so would definitely recommend trying that out for your evening meal if you are staying - just be sure to pre-book.

Staff welcoming! I had the Bennett room, it was lovely, the bath was huge, so I enjoyed a very relaxing bubble bath, room was immaculate and had loads of little cute extras, very quaint but modern and well thought out, its in a little village with walks if that's what your looking for, we were there just as a stop over and relax. We had evening meal and breakfast, was top quality food and service, relaxed but classy.

Liked everything, bit more expensive than I would usually pay but worth it!

Very friendly staff and very clean spacious room The Bennet both a large bath and shower. The breakfast was excellent though cut down on the order on day two due to quantity. We also had two evening meals there and were not disappointed. One suggestion maybe offer the evening meal with a small discount otherwise very good all round thanks for both of us.

I was in Cumbria for a wedding party and chose the Hare and Hounds as a convenient place to stay as I came by train. It is an absolute gem. Lovely room, big bathroom with a bath and separate shower very nicely appointed. Fantastic food both at breakfast and dinner. The staff were absolutely lovely which you need when travelling alone. I stayed an extra night. Even without a car there are sights to see in easy walking distance: Sizergh (NT), Levens Hall.

Friendly staff and great location not too far from M6. Stopped off en route north from south. Food at the inn was fresh and delicious. Breakfast was huge - selection of cereals, fresh yogurt and nicely prepared fruit compote and fruit salad - would highly recommend the gluten free granola! It was the little attention to details that makes this place special….as well as tasteful decor and amazing bath 😊

The Barn Annexe suite was lovely - spacious, light and clean. The staff were friendly and very professional; service was excellent. Our evening meal and breakfast were both first class.

A couple of small things - one of the handles on the bedroom window needed fixing and it would have been nice if the large window in the living room opened (I don't think it did) - otherwise all was great!

We spend 4 nights here and the breakfast included is really good. Room was very clean and comfortable. Nice little touches and like homemade brownies and jars of milk instead of plastic packaging. The inn is in an nice village with superb village shop close to RSPB Leighton Moss and Foulshaw Moss. We ended up eating there every night as food was really nice and quite different from an usual pub grub and staff were brilliant. Would come back in future
