Our first stay here and pleasantly impressed by the modem interiors finished to a high standard in the rooms and bar area. We like quaint features and the bar was a very nice place to relax and drink in. The rooms were clean and fresh looking, modern shower and bath facilities. Beds were comfortable. The staff were very welcoming at breakfast and we enjoyed a full English that was most certainly adequate for the day ahead. Located to within a mile or two of the town where you can dine of an evening this is a great place to stay and enjoy. We would love to stay again and have every confidence in recommending.

Lovely room, very spacious, had the Superior king room, bed comfy and clean. Very friendly staff, they were lovely and very accommodating, went above and beyond, made us feel very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. The food is tasty; bistro pub grub and there was plenty of it. Would definitely stay again if in the area, £99 B&B incl breakfast, absolutely value for money.
Needs a chair or two in the room, no where to sit, plenty of space for them. Nespresso machine part missing, couldnt use it, had instant, but only decaf coffee available.

Room 2 is a lovely big room with great potential but appeared to be midway through an upgrade. We'd willingly return - even pay slightly more - to find a mirror and chair in the bedroom and some pictures on the walls. The lovely modern bathroom just needs and an extractor fan and a hygeine bin. The Tavern is right on the A6 so a lot of traffic noise but we slept well in big comfy bed. We were greeted warmly by a member of staff in the bar, who also served us in the restaurant where the food was AMAZING!
Trafic noise!

The Tavern is a beautiful old inn, full of rustic charm, but with a modern edge. The room was lovely, very comfortable bed, large shower and stunning stand alone bath. The only downside was the noise of the traffic on the A6 outside the window, but a pair of earplugs helped. We would book the Tavern again. The food was delicious, with lots of local foods on offer. The dinner portions are very good!
The noise from the A6 road. The TV didn't work, couldn't get any of the streaming services at all.

The aesthetics of the room were lovely. A very homely vibe and very comfortable. We were running abit late for the 9 o’clock check in and the woman who dealt with us was great and stayed until we got there to show us to our room. So a very big thank you to her 10/10 service!
All in all I wouldn’t say there is anything we didn’t like. The place is perfectly described and is exactly what it says it is, the price is perfect and I wouldn’t ask for anything different from it. If there was something bad we wouldn’t stay there, simple.

We were delighted by the interaction with Sam and the locals, the football was on and we chatted to everyone and were treated as part of the gang, they also gave us tips on where to go. Great location for our stop over on the way to Scotland, but perfectly placed for a trip further into The Lakes. The room was wonderful, couldn't have asked for more, I was concerned on arrival that it was next to the road, but the walls are so thick we didn't hear it at all. We ate here too and the food was incredibly tasty.
One thought, room 4, our room there was no mirror next to the plug sockets which made sorting my hair a bit of a problem, but easily resolved.

Wonderful hosts made us feel very welcome. Food was excellent as too the service, beds comfortable and everything clean. We would definitely return.
Room was very compact, not much could be done about that . No fridge and only one small serving of milk supplied.Coffee machine doesn’t seem to function correctly. Positioned on a noisy road but that’s obvious when you book. Door bangs if window is open.

The staff were really helpful and polite. The room was very clean and had all the expected amenities. The menu is limited but the food is of really good quality and well presented. Beware though, the portions are huge! There is a good wine list too. The whole place is nicely decorated and has a lovely atmosphere.
It would have been nice to have a chair in the bedroom but it didn’t stop us enjoying our stopover.

Wonderful host and staff, as a solo traveler I felt very welcome. Lovely, comfortable room with nice decor and great choice of drinks in the bar - didn’t eat but the food smelt wonderful. Location of the property was good in relation to nearby Morecambe Bay and Kendal.
Loved the bathroom design but the shower area could do with a deep clean as tiling quite stained in places. Bedroom could also do with paint touching up as there were some big scuffs on the walls which slightly detracted from the lovely decor.

It’s a lovely building, the room was clean and really homely. It was fully stocked with everything you’d need for your stay. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food in the pub was delicious, 10/10 would recommend :)
My only complain would be that the body wash for when you were in the shower was in the other side of the shower door so water got everywhere when you needed to use it but it’s not a massive deal that :)
