Sonia was very thorough with all the information we'd need for entry to the hotel, amenities, and where our room was. The bedroom itself was very spacious, comfortable and clean, with plenty of supplies for teas and coffees on the dresser. The hotel itself is in a great area with plenty of food choices nearby and about a 5 minute walk to the lake itself for some lovely views.

The bathroom is very, VERY small. Obviously this will be due to needing to outfit an old building with modern amenities but I would advise being careful when going to the bathroom after someone has had a shower or your socks will get wet haha! It was not a problem for us but in our particular room the bathroom is also up a single but steep step which could be a problem for anyone with assisted mobility needs. In general Bowness on Windermere is somewhat inaccessible in terms of slopes and stairs everywhere you go so I'm sure anyone looking to stay here would be aware of this regardless.

A Truly Warm and Memorable Stay Stayed from 17–20 May and had a lovely time. The self check-in process was smooth, and the kitchen access made the stay feel relaxed and flexible. The location is perfect—just a two-minute walk to Windermere Lake, with everything else within easy reach, yet still calm and quiet at night. Huge thanks to Sonia Hutchison for the clear and caring communication—it made the whole stay seamless. And to Evelina, the kind and thoughtful caretaker—she said I might forget our little chat, but I didn’t… especially not the bit about the strawberries at Borough Market. Berry thankful for such a heartfelt and welcoming experience. Would return without hesitation.

Checkout. That I had to leave. Honestly, can we make check-out emotionally optional?

Excellent location, clean and had facilities to cook in separate area such as microwave fridge cooker, dishwasher etc, plenty of tea and coffee , we managed to get a car park space straight out of property which was a bonus, nice view from room , quiet at night. Bathroom was clean and water was nice and hot Owner was in touch with us through the stay making sure everything was okay and instructions on how to get keys etc so felt looked after

Bed was very firm but we expected as we had read previous reviews but did not expect it to be as hard as it was but some people like a firm mattress which is a shame as this is only thing that we did not like about the stay , everything else was perfect for us

Our stay was absolutely amazing! From the lovely view from the balcony to the room itself, it was clean, comfy, home from home! the lock system sounded a little complicated but once there it’s pretty straight forward! pub just across the road and a little take away and the lake just a 5 minute walk from your stay. We were situated opposite the pub so was sceptical about noise but by 10pm it was a ghost town. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back. Thankyou so much x

If there’s not any parking you’re a little screwed as nothings in “close distance” but if you’re in luck.. it’s perfect

Bowness is wildly overpriced now but this place manages to make staying there at least affordable. The rooms (room 3)are small but some and ours included have great views over the lake. The beds were great the bathroom was a pod but was great and had loads of hot water and loads of power, lots of extras in room like a fan a clothes steamer and hairdryer. Wardrobe and drawers. Its not a luxury stay - mainly due to space and bathroom - but its very nice for the price and is probably now the only place I would stay going forward. If you live in the room this may not be for you but if its a nice place to refresh and sleep then you will not be disappointed. 100% Recommended

I liked everything for the price we paid it was perfect! If I was really picky I would say the rear steps are very steep for kids or elderly but then just use the front door.

The room is great value for money... there were plenty of tea bags, coffee, milk, and sugar. And options for more if needed. There was a fan which was great because the room was very hot. It was great 5 min walk down to the lake and lots of bars very close by. There are also brilliant kitchen and fridge facilties if you bring your own items.

I was given a room which was on the main road.. it is a very small main road but cars were extremely noisy so was difficult to keep the window open and not hear the noise when sleeping, I would personally ask for a lake view room next time just to avoid traffic which is no fault of the hotels.

Great location, less than 5 minutes walk to lake windamere and places to eat and shop even closer. Accessible kitchen if you don’t want to eat out. Also nice to have a sofa in our room. Although contactless accommodation, great communication with the host, including parking and access information via email and little notices in the room.

The beds could have been comfier and the shower had very low water pressure, so turning the shower head upside down to rinse your bits was useless! Chipped mug in the room but we were able to swap it in the kitchen.

The location is perfect, in the centre of Bowness close to the lake, bars and restaurants. There is limited free parking and we managed to get a place, which was very convenient. Our room was clean and comfortable, with an ensuite which was small but worked well. Plenty of tea & coffee. Although the hotel is billed as staff-free, Sonia and her husband were about doing maintenance and were very pleasant and helpful. Excellent communal areas for having snacks and meeting up. Good value, especially given the central location.

Our room had a very low bed which, being mature types, took a little getting up from. The ensuite has a fair step, and in our room there was only a small gap between the bathroom door and the bed, making it awkward to step down.

The location was perfect, shops and restaurants on the doorstep and the pier is only a couple minutes walk away. The room was nice and clean, had all the amenities you could possibly need and the view from the room was lovely. Sonia was very kind and attentive before and during my stay and made the check in process very easy. Really enjoyed my stay here, would definitely visit again.

The TV in my room had no signal during my stay which i imagine was because of the weather, but that was really the only issue.
