Friendly staff, location is not too far from the M6. We required an overnighter on our way from Inverness to London and this fit the bill perfectly. Whilst outside the Lake District, it could arguably be used as a base to visit it although it would entail some to and fro. Has dedicated parking which is adequate. Nice reasonably priced pub within the hotel. The building itself has a long history and a nice feel about it. There is a large SPAR and Booths within walking distance and a gas station right next door. Breakfast was good. Overall, good value and a nice stay. Would recommend.

All rooms are on the 2nd floor without an elevator and this could potentially deter older citizens or those with large bags or mobility issues. We had outsized bags and the staff were sweet and allowed us to keep them in the Breakfast room on the first floor and even helped us take them up. Could not ask for more.

The property is on the A6 up to the Lakes. It is an old property, with history. It's not modern but has everything we needed. There is no lift so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues, on saying that we are in our 70s and we managed. The Staff in the Hotel.are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is cooked fresh and is one of the best we have had on our travels. We stayed for two nights and had dinner both nights, the food was so very good.. On leaving, my husband said "we'll come back" and we will. Great value for the price.

No complaints.

Ideal for family Memorial Service in local village close by. Good meals suited all 4 of us in pub - shared with friends who live 14 miles away. Lovely staff very helpful kind and cheerful and very efficient. Comfy bed.

1 radiator in room not working but we were not cold. Waste of the sink had slow drainage. Notified staff. Rooms Up 2 flights of steep stairs which could have been difficult but Courtney carried a suitcase for me - thank you!! Phew. Did not like the bright bulbs in the touch bedside lights (great idea) they dont suit me causes flash when shut eyes. Breakfast sausage and black pudding wasnt great quality.

We were attending a family funeral, so the location was excellent for this. Room was clean and bed was comfortable with extra pillows available. There was also an extra radiator in the room for cold evenings. Bottle of water in the room along with tea, coffee etc. We had an evening meal downstairs, with other members of the family, which was excellent, tasty and plenty of food on the plates. The open fire was a bonus too!

We were unable to get WiFi in the room, only on lower floors, and the TV picture kept breaking up, but it didn't cause too much of an issue. Parking is nearby, and were told there were 6 spaces reserved for pub, but we could only see 3, which were already taken, so had to park a short walk away.

I cannot praise the owner and staff enough for a wonderful weekend, we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived, and throughout our stay, making sure we were comfortable, reserving a table next to the roaring fire each night, informing us of local walks and places of interest. The food was plentiful and excellent value and quality, the local ales also a treat. Sally the owner was very friendly and caring, and Shane behind the bar even lent us his darts ! The rooms were very comfortable, and the building itself so full of character. The breakfast room was bright and you can have any combination of breakfast food you required, even pancakes, all very well presented and made freshly to order. The lounge and bar area were very warm and inviting , exactly as a village pub should be, two roaring fires, good ales, and comfortable seating. As you can imagine, we will certainly return to this hidden gem only 4 miles off the M6, yet with good links to Lancaster on the south , and the lakes to the north, if we can drag ourselves away from the fire!

Nice room and bar and evening meals were great. Shane was really nice, great asset to the Bulls Head with his personality. The ladies were all nice and friendly too. The lady cook at breakfast was so accommodating and our cooked breakfast was superb. Thank you. We will be back.

Room was at corner of busy road near traffic lights so heard traffic from 5am onwards (windows open as it was hot)

Enjoyed a lovely stay at The Bulls Head Inn after a lot of travelling by car. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff on a very stormy night (Storm Ashley). The staff very kindly put my table for supper by the roaring log fire. The food certainly exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed everything. My room was small, cosy, clean and just what I needed for one night on my travels. A very hearty breakfast in the morning set me up for the day very nicely indeed. Thank you.

Rooms are well provisioned and of good quality fittings/set up eg complimentary toiletries, water etc. Owner really chatty and did all she could to make sure breakfast was good (it was - really good cooked breakfast). Bar downstairs was very busy and locals very welcoming.

No lift for someone with mobility issues and two flights of steep stairs to bedrooms. Rooms were far too hot to point of being uncomfortable even with window open.
