The view and location were exceptional. The staff were very attentive and friendly.

The food, we had purchased half board and the dinner was not up to our standards. Breakfast was okay.

The location is simply magnificent. The castle itself is set in beautiful grounds with breathtaking views of the estuary. A highlight was the charming coastal path that leads you to the village in just 15 minutes. We stayed in a standard double room in the Rock House, which was a wonderfully quiet and comfortable haven. Great breakfast buffet.

A helpful tip for future guests: we hadn't realized when booking that our room was in a cottage on the grounds, not in the main castle. We didn't look closely enough at all the photos. Our room was lovely and very comfortable, but if you're dreaming of a room inside the castle itself, make sure to double-check the accommodation details before you book. While our dinner in the restaurant was enjoyable, it didn't feel as special as the rest of our stay. We felt it was good, but not a "must-do." If we were to return, we'd likely explore the local restaurants for our evening meal.

Netherwood is a very grand and attractive building set in its own grounds off the main coastal road. It is a 5 minute stroll from the railway station, from where you can also access the promenade. The town centre is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. Parking was plentiful and check in was welcoming and friendly. The interior of the hotel is just as grand and attractive as the exterior would suggest, with beautiful public rooms and lounges, and there is ample terrace seating with views across the lawn to the sea. Our Superior double also had the benefits of sea views and is large, very nicely decorated and very comfortable. WiFi in the room was often rather slow and some boosters might be useful. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room with large windows overlooking the lawn and gardens. Although I am not a fan of buffet breakfasts, the one here was very good and there was a very good selection of hot and cold food; and as far as the cooked components are concerned, they were of good quality and tasted freshly cooked. We tend to avoid hotel bars, simply because we prefer proper pubs, and whereas the bar in the Netherwood is certainly not pub-like, it is a pleasant place to enjoy a drink, and I must say that the gentleman who served (didn’t get his name) is a fabulous bloke who is very much on top of his game. So much so, that I had a couple of extra nightcaps. Throughout our stay every member of staff was very friendly, which helps to give this excellent hotel an efficient but not stuffy ambience. We travel widely and have stayed in a huge range of hotels. This was our first visit to Netherwood and it really is a class act. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are sure to return.

This is a beautiful hotel overlooking the sea, very close to train station and lovely seaside promenade and short walk to town. The building is historic with original features. It is very dog friendly which may be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences (eg dogs at mealtimes etc). The spa is wonderful, I had a massage and used the spa facilities “thermal journey” which were both excellent. They were accommodating of allergies at breakfast and dinner and had gluten free options including cereal, bread, beer. We stayed in one of the “chalets” which was like having our own little holiday home and was very convenient as it had a small kitchen, nice sitting room/dining room and even a courtyard with a private hot tub!

Roo in mainn building had everything from bottled water both sparkling and still, tea/coffe milk in small bottle,,biscuits plenty of hanging space, drawer space, on each landing thre were trays of extra milk, tea coffee, biscuits. Lovely freshly cooked btreakfast that was regularly tpped up, excellent choice of fruits, continental breakfast, cereal. Dinner menu was excellent, happy to adapt each course if required, down side stayed 2 nights and menu didn't change but plenty to choose from and on second night specials menu, able to eat in resturant or bar area

I loved the location it felt luxury, I loved the hedges and the outside seating area I really enjoyed the space and size of the room and I loved loved the decor throughout was absolutely beautiful and felt like you was in an episode of Bridgerton, the breakfast was lovely and staff was always attentive tiny things I would change but didn't make my stay any less good though I loved it and can't wait to be back!

No fridge in room for drinks as it was very hot when we stayed, expected a swimming pool in the spa and not so many steam rooms, more choice on the al carte menu, the price charge added on for every transaction.

The hotel and grands are very well looked after. The main building is absolutely stunning. Staff was very friendly and professional at the same time. Food was of good quality and breakfast had more than enough options to choose from. Room had all the essentials that we needed and beautiful view looking over grands and sea in distance. We actually liked this hotel so much that we decided to extend our stay by another 2 nights and will definitely stay again in the future.

Right from arrival it was fabulous. The young lady on reception on the 7th and 8th May was extremely friendly, professional, chatty and knowledgeable. The room was good. Personally I would like a larger bed but we slept well which is all that matters. It was clean and had everything you needed. We looked at the evening menu and decided it wasn't for us. But then we saw the bar menu and there were some interesting choices. The food I ordered was extremely tasty and I am.a very fussy chef in our own guest house. I was impressed. The only thing I did not like was the 10% automatic service charge. I never like them. Is it for carrying a plate from the kitchen to the dining room? I would have given a larger tip than 10% were it not for this. Anyway, lots of parking, lovely hotel, excellent staff, decent enough breakfast. I would definitely go back.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left every member of staff we engaged with was exceptionally pleasant, polite and professional. It was an absolute joy to stay at the hotel and we added an additional night to our stay because of this. The breakfast and evening meal were very, very good and very reasonably priced. The room in which we stayed was faultless and the view of Morecambe bay were incredible both from the dining areas and the outside terraces. My wife and I are now in our sixties and our stay was some of the best money we have ever spent.

Only thing we thought was that a bottle of wine was a bit pricey. Having said that I'm now an old man and only get to my local club for a snooker Sunday afternoon so am probably way out of touch with current prices.

The location is stunning, the building is beautiful. The meals were excellent.

The shower in our room was very poor and leaked over the side of the bath. The loo kept blocking. The spa changing room is too small to host all users when changing. The bar, reception and library areas were chilly at times and not comfortable to sit in. We had booked a package that included 2 days with breakfast and dinner, but we didn’t dine in the restaurant the second evening owing to confusion over our booking and staff advising we had a 10% discount on the meal (thus implying dinner was NOT) included. So we missed out dining on the second evening of our stay.
